Why is Red Ball closed? We have been by several times and called a couple of times.
Amazing people. Amazing food!
This place is awesome! Staff is super nice and food is amazing. We had a group of 20 with hungry kids at the zoo and didn't want to eat zoo food. Quick look on urban spoon and picked this place. We were in Santa Fe for 8 days and this was by far the best food we had. Cheapest too! History of the building is very interesting. I had the double open face chili cheese burger with fries extra hot and loved it! My wife had a tamale plate and it was fantastic too. If we had been staying in abq we would have eaten here every day. Every one in our group was very impressed.
A favorite.. My boyfriend and I eat here almost every Saturday for brunch. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, even when the place is really crowded. The food always tastes freshly prepared, with high-quality ingredients.
Try anything with the red chili sauce--it's a little different than the sauce you find elsewhere; it's thinner and more orange than red, and a little more garlicky than normal, but oh my gosh, it's fantastic. Highly recommended, especially for diners on a budget--large serving sizes for pretty cheap prices.
Great food and service. I go at least once a week for lunch, it has great charm and everyone is nice not to mention great on your pocketbook. This is my little secret in the Barelas neighborhood.
1922 also saw the launch of the Red Ball Cafe in the historic Barelas neighborhood. It was primarily a neighborhood cafe back then, but four years later in 1926 the original Route 66 passed by its windows, increasing the number of guests crossing its doors. The original Route 66 essentially followed El Camino Real, the original “Royal Road” between Mexico and New Mexico, traversing south from Santa Fe through Albuquerque and the Barelas Neighborhood to Isleta Boulevard then onto Los Lunas where the legendary Mother Road took a westerly turn.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm glad I finally did. Casually comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were friendly and welcoming with a real homey vibe. I'll never forget my first bite of the classic Wimpy Burger. The flavor combination of the red chili sauce, lettuce, cheese and burger have me hooked. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu items.
Delicious! The owner and staff are very welcoming, they make you feel like family. The food is delicious and comes out pretty quickly. The outdoor seating area is cozy and covered. Definitely gonna make ourselves regulars now that it's open again.
Red chili burgers are delicious and cute. I recommend getting extra burgers. Great service when you dine in as well! The business had a nice aura.
Delicious red chile! Super friendly staff! And very reasonably priced! The wimpy burger is a must try.
Glad these guys are open again for business. Go see them, support local.
Great local spot with great food and great service. 100% recommend. I tried the taco burger with green chile.
Delicious food and best Taco Burgers in New Mexico.
Fantastic food, great service, beautiful location, and super affordable. Order a double wimpy with cheese, or the green chile double cheese burger combo that comes with fries, and ask for a side of wimpy sauce with it. We needed a good burger place in the neighborhood, it was long overdue.
This place just started doing breakfast. The burritos are incredible! Red Ball Cafe is one of the historic business on Route 66. I split a burrito with a friend and was stuffed! They have authentic red and green chilie. I’ll be back soon! They also have a variety of coffees to choose from. Give them a try. You’ll be back. I’m sure of it!
