This burger was amazing! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fries were perfect and the cost was very affordable. Will be back. I love the tacos too but didn't have any this time.
I was told by a friend that Dia De Los Takos has the best burger in Albuquerque. Ended up not getting a burger, but had some phenomenal ‘takos’ and garlic parmesan truffle fries instead. Neither of these decisions were something I ended up regretting. I went with the fish taco, al pastor, and carnitas. The fish was perfectly fried and the sauce added a really nice tang to the taco. The al pastor had great flavor, but I would have loved a bit more presence from the pineapple. The carnitas was perfect. It was tender and juicy, but also had some really flavorful crispy bits.
Not only was everything delicious, but it was also very reasonably priced. Ended up paying $8 for three tacos and a soda. They do have some local beer offerings and while I didn’t opt for beer this time around it looked they they had some really food options.
Went this afternoon around what I expected to be a peak time, but walked in to find no line and was able to order as soon as I was ready. I have attempted to eat here on a Friday afternoon and there was a line of 20 people, so it seems if you’re going on a weekday you may need to budget the time.
All around, this was a great experience. I’ll be back to try their burgers and possibly some loaded fries.
The tacos here are amazing! I highly suggest it. Don't sleep on this place
Easily the best tacos in the city. Unique and based in New Mexico tradition with a new twist on classic combinations. The burgers are crispy and covered in warm melted cheese that will make others pale in comparison. Couple this with a friendly atmosphere and easy going staff and you've got one of the best hole-in-the-wall food stops in Albuquerque bar none.
The tacos are pretty good and the fries were absolutely delicious. My only complaint about this place is the employee's lack of Health codes. The girl behind the counter removed her hat, undid her bun then proceeded to shake her long hair and comb it with her fingers and then redo the bun and put the hat back on. She did this while standing less than a foot from where the grills are. Sorry but I found this pretty disgusting and felt bad for the customers whose tacos were being cooked at that time. Not to mention she only wore one glove while chopping an onion, but she held the knife in the hand with the glove and the onion in her bare hand.
Good food & friendly folks. Call in your order ahead during the lunch rush, word is getting around about these amazing tacos! My personal favorite: the Saigon Scooter, just the right balance of sweet/spicy and super crispy chicken. Love it!
Neat laid back location. The owner takes pride in his offerings. He should, the food is fresh and the recipes are original, telling his story. It’s obvious his employees like their job too. They are friendly and know the menu. If you like local beers they have several good ones on tap. If you want to drive the indoor karts that’s right there for you. This place won’t be a secret for long!
Their Route 66 burger with carne adovada is one of the best burgers you’ll ever have. If you’re on a quest for finding the best green chili cheeseburger you have to check them out. They have an excellent selection of tacos. My favorite is the beer battered fish tacos. They have everything from brisket to vegetarian to specials such as Vietnamese. Give this place a try, you won’t regret it!
Wow, I was not a Tako or taco lover to be honest. I was very surprised by this little eatery hiding in indoor karting. I was taken there by my beautiful partner in life for a spur of the moment place to eat. I was greeted by a very nice man who was making the food. Then a young lady came and took our order. I ordered the Takoma (2) and the Monte Carlo (1) for my first time. There are multiple options for how many you want to eat. I also ordered a burger for later. The takos were AWESOME! I can not believe how great they tasted. The best part for me was they were soft and not flower tortilla. Having a taco or tako with guacomole brisket salsa cotija cheese blew my taste buds away. The service was better than most places, that is great, the people were friendly, personable and not affraid to give suggestions. You definitely get quality food for your money. I don't think your taste buds will be sorry you stopped in. The burger I wish I didn't save for later. It tasted really good, but reheated food later is never better than when you get it fresh, or rarely is at the least. I was full from 2 of the three Takos, then ate the 3rd. I try not to eat myself into a tummy ache these days. If I had I would not have complained about the food, just that it was too good to stop. I don't regret the spontaneous stop. It was worth every penny spent. It was not over the budget at all either.
The best tacos in Albuquerque. No way around it. You'd have to go to the right place in Mexico City to find something that might compete with them. What's even more remarkable, they have amazing hamburgers and fries, too. Sort of astonishing.
