We have dined here several times and always have a fantastic experience. The last time we went was for my husband's birthday and the staff made it a wonderful experience. We had Karissa as our server and she made sure that his birthday was memorable. They decorated the table with rose petals which made the night that much more special. We always have great service from both servers and kitchen staff. They always make sure we have enough dippers, and are fantastic about making modifications if needed. They are also great about getting the food out in a great timely manner, making sure we never wait too long between courses, but also never rushing us. The food- whether we go for just cheese and chocolate or all 4 courses- is always delicious. We love dining at the Melting Pot and highly recommend!

Thursday Date Night was much needed and Caitlyn did a fantastic job! She was attentive, personable, and always made sure we had what we needed. She also offered more dippers if we needed them which we didn't know we could do! Perfect service! :)

Tawfiq M was our server for the first time, trying Melting Pot with my friend. We loved our server. He went above and beyond. He made our experience unforgettable. I will come back. I hope we can get him as a server next time as well. Super sweet and helpful.

Celebrated our 7 year anniversary today. Melting pot was the cherry on top. Everything was perfect! The food was seasoned perfect! The service was awesome. The employees really made us feel welcomed and pampered. I really appreciated everyone that helped us. We will be back! Forget what the haters are saying, I can tell you it was worth the money and the experience. We chose the tempura cooking style, which really enhanced the flavor. I would recommend the tempura style over the traditional broth style.

A lot of fun cooking food and super service. The food was scrumptious, and our server was a great addition to our night out

We had the best waiter his name wasTawfiq. Tawfiq explained all the entrees very well. Tawfiq was very tentative and super sweet. We will coming back and asking for him. Great service by Tawfiq!

It's a beautiful place and the food is very good. This is our 5th time coming here and it never ceases to please us. The cheese and chocolate are my favorite but the meat is good too. One of the only problems is they are very stingy with their dippers.
I would highly recommend this place for a date night. You can take your kids but the food isn't something a kid would necessarily like. Expect to pay a pretty penny here! Also, parking is sometimes hard to find since they share with the Uptown Plaza.

Wonderful date night experience-our waiter was wonderful and it’s all about the experience. We did the big night out for 2 and both my husband and I are still stuffed! It is fondue and 4 course so plan for 2 hours. Andre the manager checked in on us which is always nice too!

this was an excellent experience. We had Caitlynn as our server and she was so nice and made our time awesome. She was always ready to explain anything we needed and gave great recommendations! me and my mom went there for a girls day and had an amazing time.

Wonderful experience last week. The restaurant was under construction while we were there, but it did not detract too much from where we were. Alessia was the best server ever, we've had her multiple times, and will definitely request her again.

It was our first experience here! We had our anniversary and Patrick made it such a great experience! He blew us away with his service and how he cared about our time and helping us out with the courses and any questions we had! Truly made this a memorable experience and definitely will have us coming back!!

Caitlyn was our server this evening; we usually come once a year for my birthday so we are familiar with everything. She explained the dishes, options, and cook time for our meal very well. Smiled, was constantly checking on us, and the serving assistants on duty this evening were awesome. My drink was never empty and I never had to wait for something I needed because it was always brought to me prior to needing it.

We enjoyed our family dinner at The Melting Pot! The food was great and our server Tawfiq was phenomenal! He took great care of us and gave us the recommendation to try the hot skillet. We will definitely be doing that from now on. Thanks for the great evening!

They are currently under construction, which is why we didn't give them 5 stars. Understand that the contractor is at fault. But the staff is working great around everything and the food is still great quality.

Perfect server Jackie! Very knowledgeable in describing the menu offering suggestions and options. We did it all salads 2 fondue pots cheese with veggies/ breads, surf n turf in a great french wine broth and a dessert chocolate pot. Two bottles of Chloe Prosecco amazing! Best celebration dinner in a long time. Thank you Jackie

Great place top take a date. We prefer the artichoke cheese and turtle chocolate. The meat course is good but not great. The cheese and chocolate is amazing though. Pretty pricey but with it for special occasions.

Tawfiq M. was a splendid server. Made us laugh and gave good service. Served food in a timely manner and always made sure we had everything we needed. Made the night more enjoyable, and made us feel welcome and well served. 10/10!

Sorry we went -- hope to save you the trouble. NOT worth it!. We were all for a new experience, and I guess the actual experience part was okay (which is to say we don't have anything against fondue, or even against cooking our own food in a restaurant) but paying ~$50 per person for sub-par food and small portions wasn't an experience we ever hope to repeat. Several of the sauces tasted canned (or maybe out of a Wendy's sauce container), as did the chocolate for dessert. I expected a high-quality melted chocolate for $9 per person, but it tasted like Smuckers. Just awful. The desserts for dipping tasted store-bought, too -- not even worth eating, in our opinions. And we love our desserts!

The portions were small, especially for the price -- the entree was $25 for 12 bites of meat, which ended up tasting as bland as the sauces.

The service was tolerable, but not great, and we sat next to a window with a filthy windowsill (it looked like food had repeatedly splashed onto it and it had never been cleaned up).

I can't imagine why anyone who likes good food would recommend this place.

Worst customer service!!! telling me im preg when im not. Worst customer service . Paid 104.00 for two . Just wanting to enjoy my lunch. And waiter assumed I was pregnant. Even wrote on my check good luck with the baby. I weigh114 lbs I was so insulted it made me not want to eat but I didn't want to ruin it for my friend. I will never be back unless I get an apology. What a waste of money that was not the experience I wanted . And will worn my clients now that vday is coming up they may insult there date when their there.

Sauce for entrée. I feel gouged as if your prices aren't enough you slip in a charge more per person for the sauce to cook the entrée . When i ask if we didn't order the sauce i was told we could have the entree. Took away the joy of the occasion. Oh i don't know something about being cheated leaves one feeling lacking. That is what this is lacking.

The melting pot is like visiting the third circle of hell. We sat at our steaming hot, crowded, loud table for a half an hour before our order was taken. There was barely enough space on the table to juggle our plates of raw meat (pretty gross after a while) without knocking multiple utensils on the floor and getting covered with grease and cheese. We hardly saw our server, and eventually had to beg someone to find him so we could get the check and drag our bloated, filthy, over-heated selves into some fresh air. Paying over $100 (without dessert) to be essentially tortured with bad food, crappy chain-style atmosphere, and terrible service is not a trial I will likely submit myself to again. Save yourself a hundred bucks and pour cheese all over yourself in a sauna - it's basically the same brutal experience as dining at the melting pot, without being robbed.

Never Again. I have gone here several times and each time I come I have been more disappointed. Went here for a "Annual Club Fondue Holiday Lunch", I had to ask for the special menu the waiter seemed clueless. Charged my child as an adult without asking left the oil on too high "waiter said he had not worked with the oil before" and it burnt our food. Did come and check on us as the pots were smoking had to finally flag someone down. For four people without drinks it was $150 for lunch. Not worth it what so ever! I don't mind spending money for good food, don't waste your time or money here.

Our waiter was Armando. We made reservations a requested the love lane table are. When making my reservation I let them know it was our anniversary. They made it extra nice we had a card waiting at our table. The private booths were nice and comfy. Our waiter also knew it was our anniversary and was extremely knowledgeable. it was our first time and I was skeptical because of all the negative reviews on here. But our experience was amazing. And Armando made it an amazing night for us. Its a must try at least once.

This is my third visit to the melting pot.. as most would say "the third time is the charm" oh so very true! My third visit has sucked! So bad that I am at the table right now writing this review waiting for my server... are you kidding me?! For $50 a person I would expect a little better service then this! This is also my first time at the uptown location, thus far.. there's a bad taste in my mouth.
Sym
I was skeptical after reading all the previous reviews. However, my experience was wonderful. Our server Amanda Lee was attentive a was the the other servers that were helping. Out drinks never went dry. The food was delicious and the instruction were spot on, being that it was my first time.

NO LONGER IN OLDE TOWN. Has moved to the shopping plaza known as ABQ Uptown... http://tinyurl.com/89c2qg7
I always thought MP was a tad over-priced for what you end up getting size (not quality) wise per fondue, but a fun venture every couple of years for a 'group' outing.
~ I think having fondue (Geez, they have electric pots now since the 'fad' time of the '70s) at home (especially if Y'all can have a few great dipping sauces) is a great way to subtley have "family time" with kids. Fondueing provides great time waiting for the meat etc. to cook, but also offer great dynamics when someone forgets to take the food out, loses food off the fork, takes someone else fork etc...LOL

Revolting. I must have been temporarily insane when I asked to come here for my birthday,. This is the place to go if you like anything fried in oil, anything dipped in cheese, or anything dipped in chocolate. The quality of what you dip is not important as it's going to be greasy, cheesy or waxy within a few minutes.
For some reason, this overpriced shame of a chain has a back room where they stick the families with kids. It's also where they stuck us ( 4 adults ) and when we asked to move away from the noisy room, they copped attitude that followed us through the rest of our tortuous time here.
This place is great for gluttons and those whose idea of fine dining means paying a lot to consume as many calories as is possible in the time allotted to you by your indifferent waitperson.
I am sure that there's no difference in the Melting Pot in Albuquerque as the one in Omaha as the one in anyplace else.
There's no good reason to eat here.
Hercoldhands
Awesome. I was lucky enough to be taken here for my birthday. Tell the restaurant that you're gluten free or vegetarian ahead of time and they'll be sure to accommodate you. I got extra vegetables for the cheese dip, extra vegetables for the middle course and extra strawberries and marshmallows for the chocolate course. I ate so much I didn't want to move. You have to eat here at least once.

Went there once 2 years ago. Overpriced do it yourself cooking. I am a woman and a gourmet cook and this place for a meal is awful. The potatoes were raw and didn't get any better after dunking them in a pot of warm liquid for 1/2 hour the only thing good about the meal was the dessert but I'd rather roast marshmallows over an open camp fire for a lot less $$$. If I want to cook my own meal I'd rather stay home

Very disappointed in the management!. We absolutely LOVE The Melting Pot. With that said, let me say that we got hooked on going to The Melting Pot for special occasions at the Houston location. At the Houston location we always had amazing service, the hostess remembered us (even though we only came in a few times a year), the management was great and the food was always wonderful (you would get as many dippers as you liked, except the meat of course.)!

We were so excited to be moving back home and being close to a Melting Pot and not have to drive 3.5 hours to get to one. We decided to take our first trip to the ABQ Melting Pot for New Year's. They had a special that required a $20 deposit at the time of reservation for the movie tickets. We get to the restaurant, were greeted politely, had our picture taken and were taken right to our seat. Our server was wonderful and fun. The food was just as lovely as the Melting Pot we had fallen in love with. Unfortunately...that is where the "great" and similarities end. This ABQ melting pot will only let you have so many dippers. Come on folks...really...are we not paying enough to be able to get our fill of the dippers?!? Then...we get our check...we look over it and had to ask them to fix it. When we receive our monthly statement, they had charged us $20 more than they were supposed to... I have tried and tried to get ahold of the management to no avail. Not only have I not gotten my money back, I can't even get someone to contact me about it.
Unfortunately, the disappointment does not stop there...when we went to use our "FREE" movie tickets, we had to pay more money out of our pockets because those tickets that we had to pay a $20 deposit for only covered $14.50 worht of tickets. SO, we paid $26.50 for a $14.50 movie...What a Bargain!!!

With so many complaints on here about this location, maybe we should start writing the corporate office to tell them they have a location giving THEIR franchise a VERY bad name.

GET NEW MANAGEMENT ABQ MELTING POT!!!!

I like fondu, but they need to change management. The service here is terrible.

Do not dine @ the melting pot. Hostess who claims to be a mgr is so rude. It is obvious she hates her job (I'm pretty sure her life) she comes off so smug & if she allows to make a reservation u wait about 45mins after ur scheduled time the you get some poorly trained server whos just as unsure as you are. You.cook your own food. For.$100 I expect high quality food & overall dining experience but this restaurant is nothing above mediocrity ! The restroom are Disgusting ! Chocolate is the only half way decent part of this joke of a restaurant. The owner should be ashamed to charge people such a high price for a terrible excuse of a restaurant!
Victor Jury
Awful service. Excruciatingly SLOOOOOW. Poorly trained servers, disorganized processes. Great way to blow through a lot of time and money and regret it afterward. They must survive serving a continuous stream of new customers, because there is no way their lousy service will create loyal repeat customers.
Dave H
Food- eh... ok. Our server was pretty bad and WATCH OUT for the back hallway... HOT AND STUFFY!

Not much for Chains. We have avoided this place. Heard it was expensive and we just like supporting the local business owners. That said, it was recommended by a couple of people and a close friend of ours just loved it. That was good enough for us so here we go.

First off, it is fondue and you are going to cook your food. If you don't get this little point you need to stick to fast food. The waiter was super friendly, informative and patient with all of our silly questions. The table across from us was a bit confused by the whole process and had I been their waiter, I would have escorted them out the door but not this amazing guy. He walked them through the meal one step at at time and they were clearly pleased by the end.

He walked us through a few steps as well and we were on our way to a multi-course meal that we thoroughly enjoyed.

I highly recommend this to any one who wants a fun dinner with someone they love. A bottle of wine, 4 course meal and a great night for 150 bucks. A bit pricey but we were not unhappy with our choice.

Tan

A Complete Experience. I went here with my girlfriend and this place was so good that I had it on my mind for like two weeks. People complain about the price, but you're paying for excellent service and an overall experience with the food. To be honest it wasn't as expensive as I was expecting and the quality of the food was great.

Our first course was the classic swiss and gruyere cheese fondue, and our waiter was very friendly and kindly explained all of the ingredients as he made the fondue infront of us. This was perfect and with all of the dippers I think this was the highlight of the dinner.

Next came the salad with a delicious ginger vinaigrette.

Next was the main entree. Neither of us eat meat so we for the vegetable broth, with the vegetarian entree. I enjoyed cooking our own food because it allowed us to sit and talk and appreciate each others' company instead of just devouring whatever was put in front of us. The artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms, asparagus were fresh and very tasty, but my favorites were the two types of ravioli, and the marinated tofu. My least favorite was the edamame.

We were then given champagne with a delicious chocolate fondue with cheese cake, marshmallows, rice crispy treats, strawberries and more for dipping, absolutely delicious and a nice close to the night.

My only real complaint was that the price of the wine was nearly $40 for bottle of wine that is $12 at the store. Quite a markup, but it wouldn't feel complete without some wine so I gave in.

I will definitely be back.

Not For Everyone. Let's face it, going out to a restaurant and having to cook your own food just isn't for everyone. But this chain has made a success out of resurrecting the 60's American fad of "Fondue Parties"! The food is good and it is a unique experience, if a little bit expensive.
I do have a couple of negatives about this place. First, the quality of the shrimp was extremely poor. I recommend that their purchaser take a seriously look at the purveyor. The shrimp, even after cooked, had a profound translucence. This is a sign of use of the chemical STP (sodium tripolyphosphate). This chemical is used illegally to add weight to the product. In other words, the restaurant and the purveyor are most likely being ripped off by the supplier! Unfortunately, this chemical also affects the quality of the cooked product.
My second issue really comes down to style. The manager at Melting Pot was a little bit too attentive! Yes, I expect a manager to make his presence known, but at a certain point, their presence can also become invasive. Such was the case at my last visit to this restaurant.
Aside from those two negatives, however, the Melting Pot is a very enjoyable restaurant designed for conversation with your dinner companions and succeeds on most levels.

Excellent and well worth it!. We've dined there on a few occasions and will definitely be back. The fondue is to die for, service prompt and friendly, wine selection good. You may drop some change but it will be well worth it. You have to try it to get in on the secret. Nothing like it in ABQ

I second Mark's review.
Mark
There's Just Something About It. So, when I tell my friends and family that I've dined numerous times at The Melting Pot they always ask "Why would you pay so much for fondue?". I think the best way to answer that is not to say that it's outright delicious (which it is), but to say that there's something about service and atmosphere that adds to the experience.

Every time my wife and I have gone, the servers go above and beyond what I've ever seen at any restaurant. They are extremely friendly, very helpful, and very informed about everything on the menu including wine parings and such. And when they are preparing your fondues they will basically try to get to know you and tell you a bit about themselves making it more personable.

The atmosphere is something that you can tell the franchise has perfected. It's quite, relaxing, and just makes the experience that much more. There is even an area called "lovers lane" which is specifically for couples to dine in private. Even though there are multiple tables down this "lane" there are walls surrounding 3 sides of your table blocking the other tables and another just a couple of arms lengths away to block the rest of the restaurant so you feel like you're the only ones there.

As for the food, it's always top notch. I've tried the majority of the different items offered (cheese fondues, salads, main course fondues, desserts) and it's always been great.

With that said, while the price seems high for someone who hasn't been, once you've gone you'll know and you'll want to go back time and time again.
