I was having my car serviced in the area and walked to Kap's restaurant for breakfast. First thing I noticed was how clean and busy it was - a very good start. I was quickly greeted by the lovely hostess/owner. I ordered the breakfast special of two enchiladas with green chili, two eggs, and hash-browns. All were perfect, the enchiladas reminded me of my mother's home style cooking, nothing fancy but good.
I always prefer family owned restaurants and recommend Kap's. It was clean, friendly, good, and reasonably priced.

This is a pretty good little diner in an old 50's type modern style building. It's a classic New Mexico type diner and has been featured in a movie my wife and I saw on Netflix one night and I think there was a scene from Bresking Bad done here. The owners and staff are quite friendly and the cook is consistent and good. The green chile has some heat and the red is a good New Mexico red chile sauce. Classic little diners like this are disappearing in our city so if you've got a craving for a hearty breakfast from a classic greasy spoon type of place then eat at Kap's.
Super friendly service, great food. Our new favorite place for breakfast. The chicken fried steak with red chili was fantastic. Can also order with traditional white gravy. Red chili pork breakfast burrito was also super tasty.
Closed -- Temporarily?. A couple of weeks ago we got the news that Kaps was up on the auction block. The owner has apparently bought Mikonos and is remodeling it. We asked, and the staff at Kaps had no news whether they would be retained once the sale went through.
Yesterday a SUV ran through the front wall of the restaurant. The owner says it will take more than $50,000 to repair it, and he doesn't know when it will reopen. I wonder if it ever will.
Update 6/3/14: We drove by expecting to see the front all boarded up, and were pleasantly amazed to see no evidence of damage and the restaurant open and crowded! Go in and enjoy some of the best red chile in Albuquerque!
Really good green chili on the huevos rancheros and the service was friendly and attentive. I'll be back soon!
So NEAT. So neat to be able to eat at this historic place..... used to be a Denny's back in the day. Need more retro places like this on Central. The BEST FRENCH TOAST in Albuquerque!!!
At the corner of Central and Alvarado. New Mexican standards and miscellaneous sandwiches. Decent but not amazing. Coffee has cinnamon added, which makes mediocre brew taste pretty good. That and some huevos y carne asada, makes a decent breakfast.
Would have given 5 stars but my over easy eggs were over hard. I like the atmosphere even though it is in a rough part of town they manage too keep going and the food is good like an old time diner.

I truly enjoyed the breakfast here, and something amazed me.... it was like really clean !! Take a look at the ceiling, the vents, everywhere just clean, no dust! This is not normal for a restaurant, very happy, makes me think in their kitchen. As for the food, 5 stars, I will be back no doubt
This coffee shop is a great place to grab a quick and quiet bite to eat. It has this cinnamon flavored coffee that I really enjoy every time I go there. The prices are very good considering the current Bidenomic crisis we are all experiencing today. The staff is very friendly. I would definitely recommend visiting Kap's coffee shop if you're ever in the area.
Kap’s is a nice mom and pop shop here Albuquerque. I came here with my buddy for our tradition breakfast meet up. We both ordered the “2 eggs any style” with bacon, wheat toast and their famous cinnamon coffee. This is my go to every time come here. The server was very attentive and made sure our dinks never went empty. We may make this our new breakfast spot.

This is my favorite breakfast place. I've been going for many yrs. I've taken my family there one by one, so they can enjoy the business more.
It may be placed in a non conventional side of town, but it's one of those places you have to try.
Absolutely loved this place. The food was the best ever. Its like a family environment there. The customer service was excellent and very helpful. Its easy to find with lots of parking. I would definitely reccomend going here. I loved their cinnamon coffee. I will definitely be going back. A big thank you to all of kaps workers for a excellent experience.
Very inviting environment! Great food and great service. The only unfortunate thing is the homeless hang around there and they tend to harass you for change and what not but they recently put a fence around the whole property so it's not as bad as it was.
