Recently ate a fabulous plate of shrimp and grits....I begged for a sampler platter...they offered 2 side orders some okra and mac and cheese ...hum they were off the chain...oh and don t forget the lemonade and corn bread..and. Oh did i forget to mention my daughters plates. Cat fish. Collars ...candied yams..red beans and rice...and yummy sweet potatoe pie....Good lord the Hughleys brought Southern cooking to Hawaii
Enjoyed everything about this place. The food was great and a very nice portion for the price. I would recommend to any of my friends that's coming to Hawaii. Thanks Ken for taking the time to talk to me and my wife. God Bless you brother.
Outstanding soul food eatery in Aiea! Best shrimp and grits I've ever had and my wife absolutely loved the fried pork chop, peach dumplings and cornbread! A+ highly recommend you give them a try!
We were just in the area looking for food and was happy to come across Hughley’s. Really good southern food. My pork chop was tender and my boyfriend’s Po boy had good flavor. Some meals come with a drink.
Let me start by saying there’s NO soul food place that I’ve ever ate at that’s even touching Hughley’s! This place is hands down the BEST soul food that I’ve had in ALL of Hawaii and probably the best from any food establishment. My son told me “Mom, respectfully, you might have competition!” and that’s saying A LOT because I throw down when it comes to soul food! I’m so happy to finally find a real soul food place here in Hawaii. We’re from the east coast (south). Everything was delicious (I had the fried pork chop, Mac and cheese, yams, greens and corn bread with an Arnold Palmer -sweet tea with lemonade). Just go, you won’t be disappointed… and it takes a lot to impress me and they’ve done just that. I and my family will be loyal customers!…. By the way, please excuse the photos, I started eating before taking pictures lol… oh and the staff were all lovely, sweet and kind. Our server was a young lady named Nia(I hope it’s spelled correctly). Excellent service all around!
Hughleys has some tasty fried chicken, just the right amount of spice. The meat is nice and juicy when you tear it apart as well, always a plus 😁 their corn bread is moist with just right amount of sweetness. Now the bad part, the Mac and cheese was a let down, the taste was good but it wasn't hot so the cheese was clumpy unsatisfying. The mash potatoes were less than stellar, not sure if it's because I didn't want gravy and just some butter or what but they just didn't seem on point. Overall we still love the food and recommend you stop in
Food, service, and atmosphere is the epitome of Southern hospitality. Felt like home away from home.
The best po boy I've ever had in my life. Sweet tea tasted like the kind my mamaw made in east TN. The potato salad and fried okra was top tier. The best southern food on the island, hands down, not even close.

This is a great place to eat. I just moved here from Washingtin, DC and this is the only place on the island that sells soul food. Yes. You read that correct. They serve the food of my culture and it taste good. If you are visiting this is the place to check out. It's not far from the swap meet either. Look that up too...you can get your souvenirs here and not pay all that money in Waikki or other places.
Hughley's is the best southern food I've had on the island. The fried catfish po boy was phenomenal. The catfish was fried perfectly, not too battered that it lost its flavor, and the remoulade on top gave it a really great tangy finish. The mashed potatoes and gravy were seasoned really well, as were the wavy French fries. The sandwich also came with a drink(a pleasant surprise), and you know it had to be sweet tea. Just like I remember from growing up in Tennessee. I'll definitely be back to try the chicken and waffles.
We were looking for some southern comfort food and we definitely found it .. this place even had SEC football playing on the TV's in July... We got fried chicken red beans and rice and corn on the cob... The corn bread was actually a jiffy corn muffin base and bot traditional craklin or corn bread.
Excellent and quality service and food. Nice to have this as an option to hit up here in Hawaii when you are so far away from the East Coast.
