my granddaughter came to visit, and we did lunch here,it was a dining experience! from our greeting by the nicest hostess ,server, to our seating at this very attractive restaurant was perfection!! Then she explained the menu and we were off................the drinks were so good, the mussels divine and the entrees outstanding,I have heard of balancing flavors, and I found out what it meant, the bitter greens, the sweet caramelized onions and the robust flavor of the steak, so tender, the mashed truffle potatoes, I would have licked my plate but knew better, and there was a puff pastry with it,no words except heavenly,my granddaughter had already finished her duck pasta dish, she was very pleased, so we went on and ordered dessert! SO much goodness there but we chose to share three small fried doughnuts with three dips , perfection, we had left York and we now in paradise!! It was such an enjoyable day, made more so by the most pleasant server, she added so much to our day, thank you, when my granddaughter got home, she told her family about the lunch but also about the server who was so nice. good luck to you in your new venture and thank you for the kindness you all extended

Fabulous food, service, bar and overall wonderful ambience. Menu is a modern take on traditional Italian fare. Moderately priced considering food quality and overall experience. Half portion options on some items allowed us to enjoy a few courses without being over stuffed. Owner/manager came over to patron's table several times. Wait staff and bartenders were welcoming as well. Family and I have had several meals here and all exceeded expectations. DIshes sampled by family thus far: Loster Stew, Chicken dish, Gnochi, Arancini, Cheese plate, Pizza(two types).

I cannot rave about this place enough! True Italian food with a great wine list to excentuate the authenticity! The owners are so nice and personable as well as the Executive Chef Rob who delivers consistently good food all day everyday!! A must try in York and highly recommend the arancini balls!

We really went all out last night at 1652. Everything we tasted sent us to the moon and back... charcuterie, polenta with tempura veggies (best fried kale I've ever tasted), arancinis that melt in your mouth, lamb shank and duck confit--both on the most delicious pasta, and a chestnut blondie. You basically had to roll me out of there. Chef Robert Martin is an extremely talented man, service was top notch, and Huw and Sea the management have been generous beyond belief to the community and are making this a place that locals should support frequently before the tourists take over. Thanks again for a wonderful date night!

Our favorite new York, Maine restaurant. Always tasty food and friendly service. The menu changes but we are happy to have the variety of tastes - and the brunch makes my mouth water! Will go back again and again.

Everything I have received from there has assaulted my taste buds and been far above my expectations. The burgers are ridiculous. That being said I just now finished or (tried to anyway) an amazing meatball pizza! That was by far the best pizza I’ve had in a very very long time in a world of a of parity by all these different pie makers 1652 stands Head and shoulders above the rest! I can’t wait to try some of their dinner entrées.I am usually in the area only for lunch! BTW the help is pretty awesome too…

Wonderful ambiance, very friendly owner, terrific food, reasonable prices. Treated like gold. Homemade Italian pasta in York. Yay! We love that they serve until 10 pm. We needed another restaurant in the area like this! Thank you! We will definitely be back.

Went to check it out with some girlfriends. Do yourself a favor, go hungry and order ALL the apps and share. They are delicious! Whipped Gorgonzola is out of this world, the tempura veggies were light and crispy and the arancini were delicious and paired perfectly with the Gavi. Save room for the chocolate creama, it's what tiramisu wishes it could be. Our server was personable and knowledgeable even though they had just opened-really added to an already great experience. Can't wait to go back and try the mussels and more of the entrees and pizzas!

Our first time here. There were 9 of us on a Sunday night so not an easy table to serve. They put did them selves and the food was top notch a very nice quantity and the price was right. I know this place is very new and they have had a great start. We will be back often. I do hope they will be open through the winter. Thanks for a great night!

I don't know what to say, this place is absolutely fantastic. We started with a beautifully crafted bourbon and mint cocktail with the mozzarella garlic bread (so good we ordered a 2nd togo). For entrees we had the Gnocchi and asked them to add some protein to it, they did not disappoint. The dish came out with sausage and prosciutto, mouth watering good. Also order the sausage and broccoli, when it came out we realized that there was no sausage in the dish. The chef took care of that right away, rather than just bringing a plate with sausage he remade the whole dish and offer us to take it to-go. The waitresses were all amazing, regularly checking on us and making sure all out needs were met. If you're looking for an alternative to seafood this is the spot. I cannot wait to go back.

Very compact with nice views! Kind of loud. Friendly service and Wifi available. I had steak with vegetables, ricotta toast as an appetizer and chocolate cake with raspberry gelato for dessert. Delicious. If you don't mind noise, I recommend this restaurant. Go early. It gets busy!

Spontaneous stop in York Beach on our way up to Portland. We didn't have a reservation and they were booked for the rest of the day/night but they fit us in and managed to maintain social distancing protocol. We ordered appetizers to share, and absolutely loved every bite! The menu is Italian, which I didn't think I was hungry for but the bruschetta and spinach "meatballs" were excellent!! (We devoured everything before I got a chance to take pics, haha!) Service was wonderful and all covid safety precautions were being followed. Also noticed they were doing a steady take-out business too, so if you can't get a table, consider ordering to-go. Definitely recommend!

Oct 2018 High quality food. Small intimate space. Great service. Price affordable. June 2019 New chef. Unfortunately, the menu is now totally uninteresting. They used to serve a fantastic pork dish, like a schnitzel, now they serve very basic dishes like spaghetti and meatballs. I tried the chicken parmesan, and I was very disappointed; it tasted prepackaged, no flavor and very mushy. They still have a great location, but they'll have to make significant changes to get back their reputation. June 2021 New menu, not as innovative as in 2018 but excellent quality again. The half hour wait was worth it, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly and timely. My only regret is that they closed for the summer by the third week in August. I hope they come back strong next year.

Food was fantastic. Very fresh ingredients. Came out pretty quick. The service wasn’t great. Long periods of time went by before our server would check on us. We got there right when they opened so they were not busy at all. Hopefully the front of house can get it together because the kitchen does a fantastic job.

We were staying in the area and decided to pop in for dinner on a hot Thursday night. The AC was welcome and the food was delicious. We ordered the ricotta honey crostini, bolognese and tried the Cello Collins for a drink. Everything came out hot and was a great portion size to share between two of us. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area.

1652 is a beautiful restaurant with absolutely delicious and authentic Italian cuisine. Guests can dine on the front deck, inside, and at the bar. It was open air the night I dined and it was pleasant to feel the slight breeze coming into the restaurant. The pizzas are cooked in a pizza oven and are fantastic! The oil, garlic and chili pasta is also worth getting (it leaves diners wondering what is that delicious garlic smell). There's only four beer taps and a fairly small liquor selection, but what's there is top notch.

We have been to your restaurant many times and love the new menu! Food is always fantastic and the waitstaff and bartenders are terrific. I am only going to offer you this advice because I want to see you succeed! Last night when we arrived at 8pm with a party of 6 adults I knew we may have to wait but when we approached the hostess and I told her we were a party of 6 she rolled her eyes at me and initially didn’t even respond. She then told me it would be a 45 min wait. I looked around and noticed many tables finishing their meals so I asked her if there were a lot of people waiting ahead of us and I was told no it is just us. I have worked many years in the restaurant business so I knew it wouldn’t be a 45 min wait and we opted to put our names in. She appeared very annoyed never smiling or offering thanks she just walked away to get a piece of paper to write my name down. 10 min later a table opened and we were sat within 15-20 min of arrival. While we waited at the door a party of 4 arrived and your hostess never greeted them and after about 10 min they left. We stayed and enjoyed our meal and our waitress was lovely but had we been swayed by the negative attitude we encountered on arrival you would have lost our business along with the other 4 ppl who left. Maybe some training with your hostess should happen as she is the first impression people get.

The nice staff and cannoli bumped thrm up to a 4 for me from a 3. I really like the ricotta and honey appetizer and the chicken piccata and potatoes were good. Others in my parts had the steak, which was not a great cut of meat, and the spaghetti and meatballs which needed significantly more seasoning. That cannoli, though, was maybe the best we've ever had.

Food was excellent, fresh bread and pasta was homemade. I had the chicken broccoli alfredo the sauce was very good as well. Definitely a regular stop when we visit in York, highly recommended!

The menu is delightful, varied, and it changes seasonally which I really appreciate. Always several interesting specials as well. Pleasant service, great cocktails, delicious pizzas if you’re in the mood for more casual food. Highly recommend!

Must try ricotta toast 😋, sauces are delicious and fresh pasta. Orecchettie with sausage and broccoli was voted on best meal at our table of 7! A bit pricey with drinks but well worth the visit!

York Harbor is a cold, windy ghost town in winter. But amidst all the closed-for-the-season signs is one brightly lit star. I am amazed that this restaurant with its high end cuisine can survive in a summer beach town, known more for boiled lobsters and hot dogs. If you're into the consistency and sameness of a fast food restaurant, move on to the chain restaurants on Route 1. If, however, you are looking for a restaurant that takes some chances and is always good but often insanely great, then I recommend the 1652.

Quite simply this place has amazing food and excellent wait staff, we tried a number of their small dishes and only the wild caught muscles weren't quite to our taste. This beautiful location near short sands offers excellent ambiance for outdoor dinning within view of the beach.
