Made our first of what will likely be many visits on Saturday evening. We were dining a bit later than usual. We were greeted by a cheerful hostess and chips and salsa arrived shortly after we were seated - watch out for the unexpected spicy kick from the green sauce. We ordered a couple of margaritas and enjoyed them while looking over the menu. The waiter was very friendly and did a great job of telling us about the menu selections after we informed him that this was our first visit.
My wife had the tostadas and I had the flautas. The flautas were large, stuffed with flavorful chicken and fried to the right level of crispness. They were served with lettuce, tomato, avocado, queso fresco and crema. I opted for the beans and rice side items. My wife raved about her chalupas.
We really didn’t have room for dessert but after a busy and hot day, sopapillas and ice cream were impossible to pass up. We split what turned out to be a sizable bowl of mini sopapillas (sopapillitos?) surrounding a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. Outstanding!
If you’re looking for a Mexican food restaurant like every other Mexican food restaurant, drive to Plano or Frisco. If you want something a little different than usual, then leave the beaten path and head over to Jhonny’s.
From service to presentation, drinks to flavor, it’s easy to see why this place has a loyal following. See you next time!
Wow. This place is amazing. Love the food and service. Don't let the hole in the wall atmosphere scare you off. This place is the real deal.
The Cajun Taco plate was incredible!! Great portion, price and terrific service! Good frozen margarita too!!! Wish I lived closer.

Great guacamole hot sauce, food was excellent. Almost an hour drive but worth it, and we live in PG where there's a Mexican restaurant on every corner.
So I came to Jhonney’s and I rather we keep this hidden gem from everyone else(Im sure the owners wouldn’t want that). Soon we will have to wait for a seat. Great friendly staff and bartender. Continue the great customer service!!!

We had them cater our 30th Class Reunion! Everyone LOVED the food it was delicious. We all would recommend them. If you love great food go try them out. They are very nice and very helpful.

This restaurant serves food that is among the best Mexican food I have ever had!
First visit. Food was very good. I had the brisket enchiladas with mole sauce. My hubby had the Alma Special - brisket taco, enchilada and tostada. Nice warm chips and good salsa, red and green. House margaritas were OK and they do have other versions and flavors. The only issue was the somewhat lengthy wait for our food to arrive. I ate way too many chips while we waited. Still, it was good and we will go back.
The food was soooo delicious! Everything was great from start to finish. The margaritas, salsa and brisket queso were delish and so were all our entrees. I got Alma's special, ground beef tostada, brisket taco and sour cream enchilada, with rice and beans, it was so incredible. I am new to the area and have decided this is our new spot.
Came here for lunch and was more than satisfied. The staff was so kind and friendly and our baby loved it there too. The burrito looked like a magazine and tasted perfect and the fajitas were grilled to perfection. Loved it, definitely worth trying out a new place.
Fantastic! Absolutely worth going here! It's going to be a regular spot for us I think. I'm so glad we live just down the street. The food was flavorful and well made. We had the nachos, fajita, and fish tacos and they were all amazing. Definitely come here if you are in the area.
Update: Still a super awesome place. Seriously.... get the nachos. Bussin bussin!
Fair prices and large portions. The salsas are great, especially the green. Not sure why there's a table knife by the men's room sink, though.
Absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. Even the veggies were delicious. The green sauce is out of this world! And you have to get the churros too OMG!
The food was very good.. Big portions and the service was great. But they have the hottest salsa I have ever tasted. Even my lips were burning and that was just one dip.
