Review Gregorio's Italian Restaurant - Wyandotte

Jonas Sostakas
What a nice restaurant, a perfect place for a date night dinner! Gregorio’s is located across the street from the Wyandotte Henry Ford Hospital in what seems to have been a two-story residential building. You enter the restaurant from the front door which is along Biddle street. There is a breezeway double-door setup that you have to walk through to enter, and then there is a small bar with a couple of stools. After a brief wait, the hostess escorted us to our seats. We were fortunate to get a table in the front window of the dining room, so we had a pleasant view of Biddle and the entire restaurant. The tables are covered in dark burgundy table cloths under a glass covering. Interestingly the menu is under glass, one facing each seat around the table. We started with a glass of House Chianti for me and a Lemoncello Martini for my wife, both were excellent! Because we were ordering entrees, they brought out a bread basket and herbed oil for dipping. The bread was a delicious Italian loaf, hand-cut and warm, and the oil was fresh and tasty. Sometimes you get an older EVOO that tastes “old” from being oxidized. We couldn’t decide on appetizers. We both thought the fried Ravioli and Fried Broccoli sounded good, so we ordered one of each! The ravioli were filled with cheese, seemed to be ricotta, and came with a dish of warm marinara for dipping. They were “OK” but seemed like they were missing some flavor. With the sauce, it reminded me of having a bite of lasagne with lots of ricotta cheese. The Broccoli were the most disappointing dish. They are pre-formed breaded broccoli “McNugget” florette shapes filled with a chopped broccoli and cheese sauce. They came with a dish of a “zip sauce.” The sauce didn’t seem to go with it. Our entrees were excellent! I had the Chicken Marsala, which is the dish that I use to measure Italian restaurants. If they can’t get this simple dish right, I have little hope that any of the other meals will be worth sampling. The chicken was cooked perfectly, meaning it was pounded thin, lightly floured, and fried in butter with a slight crust. I asked for extra Marsala “sauce” to ensure there was enough to dip every bite. It came with steamed and seasoned veggies; cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli. I also got a small side of pasta in a marinara sauce, which was delicious. I especially liked the sauce! My wife had the Butternut Squash Ravioli, and let me tell you if you are ever in the area you have to stop in and get an order for yourself. Even if you are a couple of hours away, you are close enough to make it worthwhile. It is that good. Seriously, no exaggeration! Overall, I will come back again. The service was excellent, as were the entrees. Oh, and the wine and cocktails!

Delicious, authentic Italian in the perfect atmosphere! We came to this restaurant with low expectations- mediocre, Americanized Italian, like we've found at other local restaurants. We were so pleasantly surprised! All authentic, homemade dishes. My special of the day and my man friend's eggplant parmesan couldn't have been better. Real marinara sauce, rich cream sauce, perfectly cooked pasta, homemade house dressing, impeccable. The atmosphere and staff couldn't have been better. This small, family owned & operated restaurant is like being welcomed into the family's dining room. A train travels overhead, soft music, ambient lighting, our table by the window was quite a romantic setting with Tiffany lighting, beautiful decor, and vintage pieces everywhere. Our server was wonderful and friendly. Imagine my surprise when I found out our kind hostess and busser was the owner! She gave us history on the restaurant, the recipes, and her family. I'm a server, and this is what excellent customer service looks like. Come here for the food, enjoy the experience while you're there. We intend to return and get more dishes from the menu.

Classic Italian spot with really great service and a full bar. The food is well prepared, and tastes homemade and fresh. The menu has all the hits, without being huge and overwhelming (and consequently, maybe not as fresh) like some other spots in the area. A definite must-try if you like Italian food!! Would recommend reservations.

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. This is a really great place. I've been searching for a tomato sauce like this my entire life. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the staff is so nice–it was our first time there and they made us feel like we were old regulars. Get the house dressing with your salad, it's delicious.

Intimate Italian restaurant downriver from Detroit that entices me to return again and again because of their authentic Italian cuisine and personal service. Don't leave without sampling a shot of their house made, creamy limoncello. You'll be back. I guarantee it.

Best, most authentic Italian food I've had in ages. The atmosphere is delightful too, like stepping into an old Italian movie. Extremely friendly staff. All in all best experience I've had at a restaurant in ages. Good prices too.

Absolutely 💯 5 stars. I had the pleasure of taking my parents there for their 40th anniversary...and wow were we impressed. Great food, great wait staff. We will definitely be back when we get back in town.

This my son and I fav Italian place in the Metro D. Food is consistency great along with the service. Really enjoyable atmosphere. The electric train running around the ceiling is a great feature. Read a recent post stating the portion size, for the price, was an issue here Have not found that to be the case what so ever. In fact, if you check another local mom and pop Italian place down west jefferson, I hear you get app size dinner portions for quite a bit more.

Just out right TERRIBLE!! The last time I will ever dine at this restaurant. As a small family business owner myself I would highly respect the customers that come into my establishment, this “owner” was outright awful! Screamed throughout the entire restaurant to call 911 because we refused to pay for a side of pasta that was LEFT on our table and was not taken back with my watered down entree. For starters, our waitress took our order, brought out our appetizers and seconds later our soup. After she realized we weren’t touching the soups she asks if everything was okay, I responded with, “well I wish we could of ate our appetizers first and then our soups”. So she proceeded to take the soup back and brought them back out to us when we were done with our appetizers. She then brought our entrees which WAS WRONG not even close to what I ordered. She went back minutes later approached me with the dish Ive ALWAYS ordered & ate which was completely watered down. It tasted like wine, water, and uncooked chicken. The “owner” came over and asked what happen, was not very apologetic and agreed that the dish shouldn’t be watery. She offered a dessert. When the bill came they had charged us for the soup $3.99 that came with the entree & the side pasta $3.99 that was PLAIN not even sauce or anything on it! We called over the waitress & expressed how upset we were because of this and she NEVER ONCE APOLOGIZED!! The owner came back over and said “we ate the soup, we took the pasta we have to pay” we said we will pay for everything else we ordered but not for the soup and pasta. “NO YOU WILL PAY FOR EVERYTHING” she shouted in the entire small house of a restaurant. She then proceeded to scream “CALL 911” embarrassing us in her establishment as if we were not going to pay for our food we ate and ordered. They shouted for the cooks and the men in the back on two woman dining in at their restaurant What a disgusting establishment to attend. I will be reporting this business to in every which way I can due to their poor customer service and management.

Great Sicilian Food. We stopped by here when in Wyandotte for food and bars. I have been saying for years I wanted to try this place, and now I regret that I waited this long. The food and service was amazing.

We had some bread n oil, and muscles for appetizers. My wife had three cheese tortellini that was great. I had the broiled tilapia with veggies. The veggies were done very well and it was nice to see a chef that wasn't afraid of some seasoning. The tilapia was very nice and seasoned well. The spaghetti side with the main had a nice sweet sauce.

The wait staff was attentive, sweet, and made you feel at home.

Just ate here and was very disappointed. Overpriced for what you get. My meal was bland and slimy.

Nice Little Italian Place, Not Much Parking Though. First off they have only street parking. We waited a little bit for a table. The service was very good, very professional. The food was very good as well. Everything seemed to be fresh and of good quality. We had an overall good experience. We would recommend dining here after this experience and hope to see consistancy regarding all the above on our next visit. Would hate to do a negative update on this nice place.

Best Italian Downriver WOW it;s so Delicious. Only the best ever super superior sauce I've ever eaten on the Chicken Marsala a wine infused mushroom loaded dish cover a succulent thinly beaten chicken breast. I can truly say the sauce has everything you'd dream about on a dish. Never in my years have I tasted anything better in a Italian dish. The wife had the special steak medallions with another creamy wine sauce sprinkled with peppercorns YUM. The fresh baked hot bread wrapped in a basket next to a plate of oil and spice with keep you munching along with a crisp dark green leave salad why'll waiting for your meal. Everything is made fresh to order so be patience it's well worth the wait. The fast friendly service with a smile and a super clean exciting unique decor along with a train cruising overhead makes this a must try as the food, service and atmosphere are some of the best you'll find around the Detroit area and beyond.

Josh and I decided to stop in to Gregorio’s Italian Restaurant. Gregorio’s is located in Wyandotte on Biddle. This small, cozy restaurant has been making favorites for locals since 2003. Check out our visit. Fried Ravioli: The ravioli was lightly breaded, golden brown and tasted pretty average. For dinner, we tried one of the specials: The Bocci: Sacchetti cheese filled pasta with Alfredo sauce and chicken. We were able to customize this dish which is always a plus. It originally came with marinara, but the Alfredo sauce was the way to go. We also added the chicken. The cheese filled pasta was tender and tasted good with the Alfredo sauce. There was only a few strips of chicken which was a little dry. If you visit their website, you can sign up for the email club and view weekly promotions. I was really impressed with the website as well. It’s user friendly and has some great pics. However, the website looked better than the actual restaurant did. The decor was outdated and the place
