Loved this hidden gem, I felt I was transported to a different place and time, impeccable service and amazing food! Had the seafood Risotto - delish! Ran into the owner Louie in the front gelato section that you can see from the street, what a passion he has for his restaurant and Greek Cuisine! My husband had the homemade Gyro which was fabulous! A great place, get a reservation - they are busy!
Why go downtown to get authentic Greek food when u can have it in a beautiful setting in Winnetka with out the long drive? Their Avli (garden) outdoor covered patio is just delightful setting when our weather cooperates. Avli's wait staff & management are both knowledgeable about their daily & specials plus the preparation. Great food in a lovely setting; HIGHLY RECOMMEND !
Best Greek food around and the new grilled artichoke & Avli sausage is out of this world...oh wait and one more thing, the pork gyros at Avli Rotisserie is so tasty and make sure you ask for lemon squeezed on your gyros at Avli!

Forget Greektown! This is the best Greek restaurant in the Chicago area. The patio at sunset can really feel like you're in Greece.

We recently hosted my daughter's baptism on the patio at Avli in Winnetka. We worked with Alex- he was great! We had 32 people - four tables of eight people. We were able to pick food for the apps/first course and then we had guests pick their main course. We brought in our own dessert- which is pretty standard for Greek baptisms (family enjoys baking traditional items). I was VERY impressed with how kind the staff was when I dropped off items the day prior. They also went out of their way to set-up the patio with the decor I brought. I drew them a picture of how I wanted the space to be & it was beautiful. The food was delicious & staff was very kind. I highly recommend hosting an event at the restaurant.
This place feels like in an artistic beautiful environment. From cutlery to dining, from heating floor to mouth watering food, this restaurant would never leave me to amaze every time I visit.

The second time visiting Avli turned out much better than the first back in 2019. Sitting out in the courtyard allowed us to be more comfortable with Covid and all. The service was much improved from the prior time, as our waiter was personable and attentive but not over bearing. Even the busboys seemed to be better trained.
We started with a drink and dolmaldes while waiting for our guests. These dolmaldes were the best I’ve ever had. The plates was dressed with a slightly sweet amber sauce that contrasted the lemon tartness of the grape leaves, while the rice meat mixture was delicious. The menu has its basic Greek menu items and then the not so basic to chose from. I actually had the lamb chops with their Greek rice. The chops were ordered medium rare and very thin medium well came out. I didn’t send them back because they were well seasoned and tasty. Even the broccoli was well seasoned and grilled with just right amount for the grill browning and flavor. My wife had the skewered chicken, which she enjoyed as well. My mother-in-law is vegan, and there are plenty of items on the menu for her to order. The only desserts ordered were ice cream and the cheese cake. The cheese cake was ok but not great. I would recommend eating here to anyone and everyone.

Very good food. I like very much. Poseidon dish was delicious and very appetizing. I’ve been coming here now several times for the past few months bringing many people I know and they like it very much. Lately this place has been much more enjoyable to visit and dine in with my friends. Highly recommend it.
Went here with my family and we were first impressed by the friendly staff and a server who seemed to really be interested in us having a great experience. Even the additional staff who came to refill water or take or remove plates were much friendlier than the average waitstaff. The food was excellent. My wife had the chicken skewers and I had the Pastichio which was divine. Our children shared a few appetizers, including a lovely hummus plate because they enjoy small bites and a bit of variety. Overall it was a great experience and we're anxious to return!
The ambiance, food and service was amazing! Six months ago, everything was good, but, we went last night for Mother’s Day and was blown away with how much better they’ve gotten. The restaurant was packed in full and we still felt like we were getting VIP treatment. Highly recommend this place. Most definitely going again soon.
Had the most Lovely experience dining for my birthday with friends and family!!! Service was great and all staff was very personable. Highly recommend Juan the server!! Food was excellent ! Highly recommend the seafood medley dish!!! Management runs this establishment well and make it a worthy experience to dine in.
