This place was recommended to me by a family member. They have great food, a cozy atmosphere, and wonderful staff. We stopped in for brunch and were seated immediately. The food came fast and hot, and the portions were large. The Reuben sandwich was great, the breakfast was amazing, and my kid loved his chicken strips and fries. We will be stopping by again next time we are in town.
Had a delicious Western BBQ burger, lettuce wrapped with sweet potato fries. All the waitresses were sweet and friendly. Thank you for a great experience.

We came in around 9:30ish in the morning, other customers (and ourselves included) weāre having trouble being seated in a timely manner as it seemed the front counter was understaffed (maybe?) with both seating and ringing up the customerās bills. Iām patient person so this didnāt bother me, but this is for those who are less patient. Thatās the disclaimer. Iām willing to chalk it up that the establishment was busy, because whatever little gripes Iāve just stated was completely overlooked as my Chicken fried steak and my girlfriendās Denver omelette was presented in all mouth watering glory. We were both very pleased with our food. Mine was a great balance as a lot of places either have just good country gravy or just a good fried steak. Black Bear Diner had both this morning and instantly went into my top 5. I definitely recommend this for anyone

The good: lots of seating and the customer service was good. The bad: no heat and the food was luke warm. The parking is good except around the back of the building which is rough and no area to turn around. Had the eggs Benedict which would have been better warm but it was good. Not sure we would go back but it was good to try.
We went to the diner about 8 pm. The staff was great and friendly and gave us great service. Our son is very talkative and they interacted with him and were patient with him. It was his birthday and he enjoyed them singing to him and getting ice cream. I love the variety of food they have and various portion sizes for different appetites. Kid portions are sizeable on their own. We also love being able to order breakfast food for dinner.

The food we got was made better than we ever had, the chicken fried stake was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, I didnāt even need a knife to cut it. When Iāve gotten it at other restaurants, I could hardly cut it with a knife. The corned beef hash was actual shredded beef brisket and potatoes, I have never tried corned beef hash that good before. The biscuits and gravy were also the best Iāve had, the biscuits are large and fluffy, the gravy is super good. The coffee is really good and the service was good too. I wish it was closer to our home so we could go more often but even if we have to drive 40 minutes to get there, itās would be totally worth itšš

Cindy is a phenomenal waitress.
We ate here on the way back from Portland to Amity after surgery for a much needed dinner and she made it a fun experience on a day that was anything but fun.

Waffles and pancakes are delicious. Great place to take the kids since they offer special design with pancakes. Wait was not bad at 8:30 am on a holiday. There are many gift options at the front that can be a nice memory for the kiddos such as stuff black bears, lollipop, socks, etc. Highly recommended to stop by if you are around the area!

So breakfast was amazing ! The food came really quick. I mean it was lighting fast! This plate is big! I took a pic of the Banana cream pie and trying to leave room . But I couldn't. It's so much food. Not complaining it's really good. The bacon š„ was great! Anyhow I suggest this place especially if you are really hungry! A+ in my book!

My family and I get Black Bear regularly. Iām a DSP and I also take my client here. I have to name the server Cindy by name, as she is one of the sweetest and hardest working women I have ever met. She treats my client with respect, patience, and love. And she is always excited to see us. She too, is always a joy to see and we ask to be seated with her whenever she is there.
I also want to give a shout-out to whoever was working the line today in the kitchen 09/05/23 around 1pm. They went above and beyond with our food. Perfect through and through. Food here is always great but this was somehow even better than the normal. Iām unsure what they did differently, but I am genuinely impressed and thankful.
The team here is great, food is always out quickly even on a busy day, any mistakes are always corrected, and we are always treated as valued guests.
Best review I can offer is that I did not eat here the one time I went there (while traveling up Interstate 5). The reason I didn't eat there is that this place seems to be popular among the crowd that likes this franchise and with it being close to Interstate 5, it seems to attract a lot of travelers at odd and unpredictable times -- even such as 2pm in the afternoon on a Saturday. I like the chain in general and this location seems as good as any other, preceding caveats noted.
