It was a lot better than the fancier version upstairs. They share a kitchen and I think they just put an extra effort into presentation for the fancier restaurant. I recommend the smoked trout salad with spring mix, the dressing is amazing and the trout is just as good. Wish there was more trout though. Also, we were seated at a table that was not level and had to move

Service was ok. Received a dirty glass, sent it back, got same glass wiped down and still not clean. Food was decent. A bit pricy. Nice views.

Well! Stopped by this place ! Must say the atmosphere was nice but service was sub par !
1-1/2 hours to get our meal ! Food was barely warm had to wait for H20, sodas ! Had to get our condiments from tables unused , waited 30 minutes for our server to stop by the table to check on us ! "Wondering if she quit " ! Any who , it's a good thing for the waitress added a gratuity of 20% cause I wouldn't of gave shit for the service we got ! Be lucky if I left the lint from my wallet ,the service was so bad !! Any ways , she told us it was the new system they had in place !!
I'm just curious ,why did we only see you once every 30 minutes !?, very sad service , I would not recommend this place to anyone ! If you have a chance to stop by MC Donald's , you will get better service !
On a good note , the food was tasty , but should of been better hot off the grill as we all ordered cowboy steaks !

Always stop here when traveling to Lake Placid. Great food and drinks and the best scenery in the region. The Hungry Trout Motel is the perfect spot to stay. It's on the premises. A must visit!

Dinner was awesome as always. I had the smoked trout appetizer - they smoke the trout on site .. just delicious. For dinner I had the wild mushroom and vegetable pasta .. again the flavors of the mushrooms, kale, tomatos and garlic was perfect. Hubby had the Chicken Parmesan special .. which he loved. Desert was cheesecake and my favorite .. maple creme brûlée!!! Always a great meal .. no matter what you order !!

Great waitress,same one we had last year! Disappointed that they took the fried chicken off the menu. Food was good, but for the price, in the pub area, you should at least get bread, rolls or a salad with dinner. Dinner and 2 beers for the 2 of us was over $70. I had a menu item and my husband had the special. Too pricey for what you get.

Best place in town! The owners, management team and staff are amazing friendly people who make your dinning experience everything you could expect and more. Not to mention their out of this world menu selection. The chicken wings are by far my favorite and best I've had around the ADKs. They make us feel like family every time we are there!

Had a great visit Saturday night. Sat outside on deck, fire going, listening to water in background. Food was excellent, service excellent, really a perfect October evening. Will definitely be back.
