We've been there many times. They have wonderfully prepared food and great service (with period entertaining). Very friendly staff. The last time we went one of the staff found out it was our anniversary and before the end of dinner everyone was clapping for us & presented us with an anniversary card. It was an all around great night!
Great food; terrific wine flights; proximity to the winery. There is NOT ONE negative memory to post here. We will be back!
When planning a trip to CW ~ Gabriel Archer Tavern is always on our list for lunch. ☺
Visited this restaurant prior to going to a wine tasting and loved it. The restaurant is situated on the grounds of the Williamsburg Winery, and the setting is cozy and relaxing. The service was a bit slow at times, but the waitress was knowledgeable about the wines and food. We ordered Pimento Cheese to start. The cheese was fresh and consisted of high quality ingredients. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a Bloody Mary. The sandwich was delicious. The chicken was cooked well and the cheese was warm. The bread was a bit hard and tough to eat. The Bloody Mary was the best I have ever had. The ingredients are fresh and creative, and the restaurant does not spare on toppings. Overall, all of the food was high quality and very tasty. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but worth the cost. Definitely recommended.
Great little restaurant located by the Winery. Finished off an excellent tour of the Williamsburg winery with a trip to the restaurant located next to winery. We went during lunch and they had a nice selection of sandwhiches, soups, and wraps. Of course, the wine menu is outstanding.
Sandwich and wine?. They have really good sandwiches and plenty of wine. Indoor and outdoor seating and is adjacent to the winery. Great place to grab a bite to eat before taking a tour or enjoy lunch at the winery. Sometimes service can be a little slow, which can be annoying when your glass runs dry.
Great sandwiches. I went for the lunch and wine tour special and it was very enjoyable. The sandwiches were very good, fresh bread, fresh meats, and great sauces. The tour of the winery made for a great day, the only drawback being that because there's a restaurant on the premise, we couldn't buy a bottle of wine and drink it out on the picnic tables.
Good service, great wine and food! Wife and I did the white and sweet flights with the charcuterie board - very nice. BLT and my wife's tacos were delicious! Some unique options on the cocktail menu. Peach-blueberry crisp was just okay - vanilla ice cream would help it out.

Spectacular! First of all this place is within the winery so before you reach the tavern you will be driving through the vineyard which makes you feel like you're far away from Williamsburg when you're just minutes from the downtown area. We were there for lunch. The food and service were excellent. It was very clean eating, meaning that the portions were perfect..just the right amount of food on your plate. You'll still leave full and satisfied and happy! When we were there we ordered their charcuterie board and shared it with our table. I ordered their crab cakes and it was "melt in your mouth" amazing. Of course we had to try dessert so we ordered Aleworks Brownie that also came with vanilla ice cream and omg....it was the perfect ending. If you're in Williamsburg, you must experience this.
I had the sweet wine tasting. The first two wines were not as sweet as I had hoped, but the last two were really good. The turkey and brie sandwich was great, as was the caramel cheesecake. Overall it was a pretty good place.
The service and atmosphere are wonderful! The food was delicious, but the portions were very small for the high prices.
Great food! This restaurant was not as formal as I thought it would be, but the atmosphere was very comfortable.
Great wine, really good service. The raw oysters were great too. My SIL had the special ahi tuna tacos and looked spectacular. The crab cakes were fresh and tasty and I had the fresh pea soup. It was refreshing. Charcuterie board was good and everone loved whatever they served with the Swedish meatballs.
Every year, after visiting the vineyard, we go to the tavern for lunch. The tavern is very cozy with full window views of the vines. The service is always outstanding and the food, just amazing. You know that you are being taken care of by well trained chefs, just by the presentation of the foods (see my pics) And of course the taste, just delicious. Christian, our waiter was great as well.
I had the crab and corn soup which was deliciously topped with fresh cilantro. Truly amazing. Then I had the lamb sliders, which were out of this world!! My wife had the chicken tacos, which she enjoyed thoroughly.
The shrimp tacos were also delicious as well, the burger was on fire delicious and the salad was a wonderful blend of arugula, wheat berries and pumpkin seeds topped with a nice crab cake.
A must visit!
