Amazing find on our road trip! We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised with amazing service, delicious food, and true craft beer. Our server Rae (Ray?) was super friendly and knowledgeable and the smoked wings were some of the best I've ever had. Super affordable and delicious, would highly recommend! I'm also not the type to leave reviews, but this place was that good.
Mark took my pickle beer and replaced it with a hazy ipa that was brewed in house. I like mark. The poutine was pretty bombtastic. I definitely liked the soup. It had a nice, rustic, herbal thing goin on. Not your every day chowder, or what have you. I didn’t see where the pickled beech mushrooms fit in with the flavor profile, but they weren’t a deterrent because you didn’t get any of their vinegary pickle-ness unless you managed to snag one of the two floating around in the otherwise deliciously creamy bowl of sweet whispers and soft, easy goodbyes. (no seriously though, the soup is great without them). All in all I think Amber Ox is a pretty awesome brew pub. Good food, solid, knowledgeable bar staff, and a leprechaun. Mark’s tip jar should be a pot of gold. Just sayin.
We went with our friends who are locals. It was wonderful. Our server, Rae is a true pro, and was a tiny bit offended that one in our party thought he had to go to the bar to get recommendations for his beer flight! We started with the soup of the day, mushroom cream. It was so good we all wanted to lick the bowl. Then, we all ordered the blue plate special- fish tacos.My hubby and I are experts, and these did not disappoint. Then, a gorgeous salted caramel chocolate pudding pot for afters. I wouldnt share. A MUST visit in williamaburg. Ask for Rae!!!!
This place has amazing food and the service surpasses that!! The bartenders Mark and Ryan helped us with beverage and food selection and the Manager Joe was top notch as well. Would recommend this place to all!
I am so mad!........that as a local I haven’t visited sooner!!! This place was delicious and had some great beer choices. Our server Becca was wonderful and super funny as well. Shoutout to the best chocolate pudding I’ve ever had �
What an awesome place this is! Not only a cool hip place, but Amber Ox provides customer service the way it used to be and should be! We happened upon it during the busy graduation weekend at William & Mary. DJ was our server and he is why we give it 5 stars. Food and beer were amazing as expected, but we’ll be back because of the service for sure! Keep it up guys! DJ, thank you!!!
Atmosphere, food, drinks, and service were amazing! Our server Tessa, kicked ass, and the owner Andrew was EGG-stra-special . Really though, he was awesome! The whole experience was great. #thegirlsinthecorner
Hands down the best wings I've ever had. The Pork Belly BLT and the Blue Plate special Cobia sandwich were both also very good. Great beer selection too. Our waitress Miriam was super nice and helpful.
Delicious food, friendly service, clean atmosphere and great location! We split the mussels appetizer with the shrimp and grits entree. Excellent versions of both. For dessert we tried the pecan pie and strawberry shortcake with some fresh brewed Rogue Elephant coffee. A fantastic end to our meal. Awesome to see lots of locally sourced food and drink on the menu. This is our new favorite place in Williamsburg and we plan to stop by every time we’re in the area.

Our server was awesome- the food itself is farm to table. The shorty ribs was only served with one egg when the description says two, meat itself was a bit tough. The boards were a hit and great price point for the variety that you get. My son had chicken and waffles that were super over cooked. Some good was great and other options were a miss.
Best. Brunch. Ever. Most AMAZING cocktails. Outstanding Precarious Beer Lab beers. Great food. The AO Brunch Burger is incredible, and the Salmon Lox was brilliant. Get the weekly pastry. Service was friendly and on-point!
Great dining experience! This is a farm to table restaurant. The food is awesome! The cocktails are amazing, they make all there mixes and syrups. The sweet potato donuts with the sauce were delicious! Service was great!
I wish I had more time to enjoy more food and drinks at the Amber Ox. A great eatery/bar, filled with delicious food and wonderful staff. Our bartender was extremely nice and we got to see him make a blueberry simple syrup in front of us. A classy place with upscale food in a great locale. Give it a try!
We made a reservation for 6pm and of course we showed up ten minutes early and were told to wait by the bar. As we looked around we saw more than 12 tables open. Key note to self, don’t show up early here.
All in all, we have to understand a restaurant is a business and we are customer here. The manager came out and spoke with me and explained what is going on in the front of the house in comparison to the back of the house. It put me at easy which allowed me to enjoy the atmosphere even more.

We enjoyed our time at Amber Ox. The food including appetizers were incredible. Their specials are limited time only so you don't want to miss them - they are delicious. I don't drink but I was told by my companions that they had great drink choices. The place has a hip and energetic atmosphere, the interior is very spacious and the restrooms are clean. Service was great too. I only wish they had more Vegetarian/Vegan options. Another place to send my clients to!
All the food was wonderful. The Southern Ham Board provided a diverse experience with a multitude of flavors. I highly recommend it. The service was wonderful. The main entrees was great and exceeded expectations. The house cocktails are fabulous. I recommend the Easy Lowrider.
This restaurant is all about consistency,consistency....!! The food is always great. The shrimp and grits is always made to perfection. As well as the table service and bar. Chris is very attentive and knowledgeable,so is Brandon at the bar!!! Kudos to the staff.
