Yummy food in a local diner. Prompt pleasant service. The pimento cheese (mild and spicy), egg salad, and chicken salad are home made- our server gave use generous samples to try out. We all (party of four) opted for the splendid spicy pimento cheese— two in a grilled pimento sandwich on whole wheat and two with burgers stuffed with spicy pimento. The crinkle fries were nothing special, but we spied the locals dipping the fries in pimento cheese. The onion rings were good per my friends. Prices low, pleasant staff, tasty authentic pimento cheese— these folks deserve your business!
Lunch on Friday and very busy. The gentleman bussing tables pointed us to the last table available. Had the special to go - which was a scoop of homemade chicken salad (delish) served w/crackers, fruit cup (ok) and nice slice of very moist German chocolate cake. Also enjoyed in restaurant a footlong hotdog (very good chili & slaw) and cheeseburger along with fries and the best onion rings I have enjoyed in a long time. Fast and super friendly service. Definitely locals favorite. Reasonable prices. Looking forward to next visit.
As my Quarter Pound Burger made its way to the table, it was love at first sight. When I brought the burger closer to my mouth, my lips quivered in anticipation. When I took my first bite, the worries of the world melted away as the amazing tastes flooded my mouth. Choirs played, angels sung. If you are to take anything from this review, get this; This was the most amazing burger I've ever eaten.
50's Snack Bar is a quaint hometown restaurant. They offer a little of something for everyone. It was a recommendation from one of my customers. I found the records and album jackets in the bathroom to be a unique throwback touch. They support the NC HWY Patrol - that's a thumbs up right there 👍!!!
Fun local diner with friendly, helpful staff. They are open from 7am-2 pm during the week serving breakfast and lunch. Because of limited staff the diner is temporarily closed on Saturday. The breakfast menu has a lot of choices and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the home cooking and welcoming atmosphere.
One of a few places to eat in town (not counting chains here).
They have local foods, like grits & livermush.
Service was good as well.
Had the stuffed Cheeseburger, can confidently say this is the best burger I've ever had. Across several statelines, and 15 hours from my hometown, I would make the trek all over again.
Nice diner with wonderful staff/service. Food is standard diner choices (many choices) nicely prepared with generous portions. It's very clean and updated with plenty of posters, photos and other memorabilia on the walls. Near museum and local river walk as well as local shops and attractions.
Grew up eating at the 50's resteraunt and still love to eat there. Great people, fair prices and good food. Only open for breakfast and lunch.
Got here just in time on Labor Day. The food was excellent, staff friendly and prices were surprisingly low for great spot in the downtown area. This is going to be The lunch stop when we come out for our mountain apple trips.
Thank you to all the staff for working on Labor day and being the best part of our day trip. We look forward to seeing you again!
Old school menu, classic diner food. Busy for lunch the day I was there , an inexpensive lunch!
