Review Taco Lopez - Wichita

If your not to picky and want some fast Mexican food to fill your belly or preventing an AM hang over. This is your place. Food is good.. it not great but there have been days I've been impressed by their speed, service and food. For what you pay.. it's also a pretty good deal. They've cut back their hours. Used to be 24/7. Now they are only 24 hours on Friday and Saturdays... I wonder why... humm..Oh yea.. Bar nights!

Several of my friends recommended this place. I got together with my best friend to try it out. I have only been here once, so I acknowledge that it may have just been a bad day or to late in the day, but I found them just average. We came in the evening as they were cleaning up from the dinner rush. We were the only customers there. The burrito was very greasy and kind of bland. Everyone had said thier tacos were the bomb so I ordered a CARNITAS taco, hold the cilantro, to go with it. They gave me a pretty decent looking CARNE ASADA taco covered with ALOT of cilantro. When I told another lady that I had the wrong taco she said she would make me another one, but couldn't make it without cilantro because it was already mixed with the onions. The new taco had less than half the meat on it and was pretty dry. I found the condiment cart (which had onions WITHOUT cilantro), added extra hot sauce, carrots and jalapenos to the burrito and taco. I also picked off about 70% of the cilantro. That made them taste pretty decent. Since they didn't take the wrong taco away, I picked most of the cilantro off and dressed it up as well. I will see how it tastes for lunch tomorrow. I always like to taste my food before adding seasonings to it. I've always said sauce should enhance flavor, not provide it. If your food needs it to be edible, its not cooked right. That being said the extra hot was very good and after adding it, jalapenos and carrots, the food was fine. I don't expect I will drive across town just to eat there again, but if a group of friends wants to go in the future, I would be OK with it.

Absolutely the best Mexican food especially for the price and time. Never had a bad meal, and I come here almost daily.

One of the best places to get a fix for my favorite burrito: Steak, Chorizo, Cheese & Egg. They have a salsa bar with a flavorful mild green salsa, and an extra-hot red salsa. One little salsa cup of each make my burrito perfect.
I almost feel hesitant to share this, as enough people know already to cause them to occasionally run out of chorizo by lunch. Then I cry a little, and order the Carnitas burrito, which is also very well done. On the Carnitas, try the spicy avacado salsa along with some green and extra-hot red salsa. Delicioso!

Quality of the food totally depends on who is cooking. Quality of the food seems to have gone down of late and the grease content has gone up.

Used to love this place but it's time to find something consistent.

Warning!. My nephew and I just got back from Taco Lopez and I had ROCKS in my food! Small pebbles if you will. My nephew was there to witness it. They did give my money back and the nice young lady at the front did apologize but in all my 39 years on this planet, I've never had a damn rock in my food.

Seriously People. This place was NOT good at all it was bland the tacos were tiny meat and cheese only with a sour taste to them the burrito was big but had zero flavor everything including the sauce was bland will not being giving this a good rating nor will we be going back....what the heck people why the great reviews this place sucked!

I'm Sad. This has been a place I have loved to go for quite some time, but I'm afraid that some of the changes that have taken place over the last year are prompting me to find another late night yummy spot... :( One of my favorite things about this place has always been the staff--always smiling, joking, glad to see you, fast service...now we walk in, if no one is at the front counter, I have been left just standing, no greeting from the cook--just ignored until we spoke and I have watched it happen to others as well--more than once. If something doesn't change, I'm afraid it won't last long even though the food is great--even that has started to slide, maybe not noticeable to the occasional customer, but I eat there several times a month, often weekly. More than anything I'm sad--I miss the old staff and how I felt when I walked in and then when I got done eating. Yum. I want it back.

I grew up in Mexico and I can recognize authentic Mexican food. Taco Lopez is the real thing. They have a salsa bar with a choice of 6 delicious salsas to choose from. Their platters are served with lots of cheese but if you want to taste their food the "Mexican" or authentic way, leave the cheese out. I had the taquitos platter which Mexicans know as flautas, rolled dark corn tortillas stuffed with shredded beef and deep fried, served with a very smooth guacamole, add your salsa and you get an authentic "antojito mexicano" just the way you would find it at a fonda in Mexico City!

Delicious. The food and sauce is amazing, they're open 24 hours, it's inexpensive and the employees are always friendly. I eat here at least once a week. I recommend the Colorado burrito (steak, potato, pico and cheese), it's only 4.25 and it's freaking huge!!
