Review Ban Thai Restaurant - White Bear Lake

Looked up their menu online & decided to try their pork spring rolls. They were listed as $5.95 so which seemed about in the right price range. So went to the restaurant & ordered. She rang up $8.50 plus tax. I asked her why so much? She said that’s the price so I showed her their online menu price. She said it wasn’t updated yet but still charged the $8.50 price since that was on the menu by the door. I thought I’d still give it a shot since the spring rolls rated well online. What a disappointment! They weren’t that good, mediocre at best, & I paid way more than I should have. Go to the Lotus in Maple Grove or Minneapolis instead!

Ban Thai has been my go-to Thai restaurant for years now. The food is always fantastic and freshly-made. Love the local feel of this family-owned establishment!

We ordered takeout. Our food was fast and fresh, and it tasted great! The owner was very friendly and told us where we could eat overlooking the lake!

Great Thai food for carry out or dining in. Not many other choices in WBL for non-American so it's a great addition to the area. Everything I had was great and the prices were decent as well.

I have been here once. This ma and pa place is old and run down but clean. My chicken peanut curry was great. I will return again!!

Our favorite Thai spot hands down and we have been all over the city. We have been loyal customers for 10 years now and the food is the best and the owners are so sweet and hard working. Such a joy!

I would say this is the best Thai food in the area. I do wonder why they state no MSG is used in their food, but they have items on the shelf with MSG...?

Best Thai food in the Twin Cites probably the Tri-State area. This place is beyond legit and makes other Thai restaurants look like hot garbage. I've ordered at least a dozen different entrees here and they all have been amazing. Highlights are the Pad Thai, Gang Pinang curry and the Thai spicy curry noodles. If there is a better Thai place in the US I'd sure like to try it because this place makes me want to move to Thailand and become a street person. If I had the choice of either losing a hand or not eating here again, I would choose losing my hand.

My husband and I have been there last week for the first time and we absolutely loved it! The food was the best Thai food I had here in the US. We just moved here from Germany and we were craving some good Thai! Food is great and service is awesome They make you feel very welcome and don't rush you like in other restaurants. So great and fresh food and amazing service If I could I'd eat there every day Thank you Josh and Denisa

I ordered #6 from the lunch menu. It was the best food I have tasted in a long time. Thank you Ban Thai!

Best Thai, I have tried a lot around the twin cities. The panang is something I crave!!! Always great friendly service and speedy service. So worth the drive to White Bear.

I have only eaten at two other restaurants whose egg rolls could compare with Ban Thai's egg rolls. These egg rolls are heavenly. Amazing. Just amazing. I could get a double order and have it as a meal. I got #12, the beef phô. The broth was excellent, but there wasn't enough broth. Overall, some of the best phô I've ever had.

Fantastic food! It's authentic Thai food. Careful, though. Their 'Thai hot' is really 'Thai hot,' which is one of the reasons it's by far my favorite Thai restaurant.

I want to give 5 stars, because the food was great. However the service was atrocious. Young lady that was seating guests and taking orders was very unfriendly (guessing family forces her to be there). Very rude and unwelcoming (very young and immature). Was mumbling under her breath the entire time, when she was asked to do something she made growling faces and noises behind the adults back...talk about an uncomfortable situation for the guests trying to eat!! She threw the menus on the table. Just overall a bad dining experience.

I really enjoyed the food, but it took us an hour to get it. I will try them again, though.

Excellent food - a favorite for us at a local business to frequent. Authentic and very spicy. Wonderfully flavored and fresh ingredients!
