If you want a poke bowl, this is an excellent choice! Was really pleased with the quality and flavor, and the portion sizes are huge! We ordered one of the house specialities (Hawaiian) and make your own bowl, large, and actually had more fish than we could eat. Depending on your hunger level, I would consider getting regular size bowl. Super delicious and can’t wait to go back!

Big Fin Poke is a Hawaiian inspired restaurant with two locations in Maine and one location in Massachusetts. We visited the location in Westbrook, Maine. If you don't know what Poke is, Poke is diced raw fish served either as an appetizer or a main course and is one of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine. Many places offer cooked protein options like steak, chicken or shrimp so you don't have to eat raw fish. They have build your own bowls or pre made bowls with drinks and soups to add on. We like eating at poke places and some are better than others but this is one of those places that are better than the others. Good portions, lots of variety, reasonably priced and friendly staff in an open and inviting atmosphere. This location does not have indoor seating so everything is to go at the moment but they do have two tables outside for some outdoor seating options at least. Westbrook is lucky to have such a gem in their part of town so if you haven't had them before I would suggest trying then out! My wife and I got build your own bowls. I got the yellow tail on a bed of mixed greens and my wife got half tuna and half salmon. My bowl had, seaweed salad, crab salad, corn, pickled ginger, kimchi, crispy onion and jalapenos with some sirracha ponzu and big fin shoyu. My wife had something similar. We also got miso soup. Usually when we go to places that offer Miso, it always seems to lack flavor or tastes watered down but this was not the case here! We actually really enjoyed their miso soup and it was piping hot. All the flavors in our bowls were really tasty and everything you would expect from a good poke place. I especially like how they offered drinks that were native to Hawaii but we didn't try them. This place has plenty of options to create a bowl that anyone could enjoy and I don't have anything bad to say about the food, service, or atmosphere. The only small gripe I would have is that things can start to get expensive if you want more than the allowed toppings and mix ins for your bowl. I believe it was like .60 cents per extra item but they don't charge $1.50 for seaweed salad like OTHER bland poke places. (If you follow me you know what I'm talking about haha) Food - 5 ⭐ Service - 5 ⭐ Atmosphere - 5 ⭐ Overall - 5 ⭐ Follow me for more reviews across America 😎🍔🍕🍨🍦🦖🔧 Like this review if you found it helpful 👍

So this may sound strange considering all the restaurant options in Portland, but this is my favorite spot to eat in the area. They offer one of the best poke bowls I've had (not that I'm an expert or anything). Good, clean, unpretentious food.

Mmmmm mmmmm! I don't go to the city much, but now I've found my new favorite restaurant down there. It's set up similar to a subway restaurant inside which was really cool because I've never seen that with any other place but subway before. Make your own poké is definitely the way to go! When you first get your portion it doesn't look like much, but it ends up being a lot. I will be back! If anyone from Big Fin actually reads this, you should really consider opening up a place somewhere in the Bangor/Orono area. You'd be a hit with the crowds up here and would also benefit from Canadian/far northern Maine traffic. North of Waterville, there are hardly any diverse food choices.

I was not a huge fan of this place. My rating is mostly because my coworkers talk so highly of what they get all the time. My bowl didn't have much flavor and I could barely taste my sauce. I poured it on myself so I know it was there. There seemed to be no sauce at all on my boyfriend's bowl. There is a wide array of options for toppings and proteins and sauces. I got the beef. It was super fatty, but pretty good anyway. My boyfriend said the fried chicken was super greasy. If youre going to go here, only get the seafood options, I suppose. Although I would not come back, I can see why people like it. The seafood should be what you're getting.

Poor Experience - Unfortunate I have never had an issue with this business. I typically use the location in South Portland, ME but I went to the Westbrook, ME location. I attempted to order a bowel for my fiancé that included adding an extra protein with the sauce that came with this specific protein. The guy behind the counter decided to tell me they try not to do this. I advised I never have a problem at the South Portland location. I asked if he couldn't do it or wouldn't do it. He stated to me that he wouldn't do it. I don't think I will be going back to this location. Not only for the simple fact of he was turning down a customer's request but in the interim, he was completely rude about the way he handled the situation.

Its a very warm and inviting place, the staff are very friendly and I feel there is exceptional and consistent service. The food is good, there are a lot of seafood ingredients available but if you are not into that the Kailani chicken is amazing (Also, its just really good, even if you are into seafood). You will pay for this experience, this is a regular treat for myself.
