The Vreeland Store

I really love the food here. I've even done their catering and the food was great, they were very accommodating, and everyone loved it. My problem is that I come weekly for a long time and whether it's dine in or Togo the service is really really frustratingly bad. For so long I chocked it up to difficulty getting staff and good staff at that but there has been so many times staff is just chatting away with each other behind the register area while an entire room of diners are waiting ridiculously long for service. My sister and I waited 45 minutes for a drink refill (I finally just got up and went to the resister to see the server talking about her life with another employee) and over an hour for our food after waiting 25 minutes to put it in. We were there over two and a half hours for lunch. We watched tons of tables trying to find a server and wonder where their items are or needing drinks. Togo orders aren't much better, there have been a number of times orders are wrong, it's like this weird telephone game when you call, you place the order the person on the phone asks someone if they have it, repeat for everything, and they are out of items constantly. When you call you need a back up plan of easily 5 items. I get they don't want to have too much to waste but this is constantly happening. Two occasions I've emailed to do more catering with no response. I so want to love this place entirely and bring everyone I know here, and I do and I have in part, but the service has really put a damper on both those things. I really really hope that one day the service will improve. I really do wish them only the best and hope to see this fantastic place with so much potential thrive.

Second time here. Once for a small baby shower upstairs and the second time was just for dinner. Didn’t realize food stops at an early hour. I had the pear salad and it was incredible! I was nervous the salad would be small so I got a soup too, but ended up eating it the next day since the salad was so large. They had a 4 piece band that was playing the Beetles and other 60’s and 70’s music. It was a really chill atmosphere and would like to come back when the outside area is open. We used to live in West Milford and have since moved out of state. We decided to stay for anniversary weekend. The owners were very accommodating. You even get morning coffee and pastries with your stay. The Vreeland has always been a place where we would go for a homey atmosphere. My daughter lovingly refers to it as the “house restaurant”. Our stay felt more like we were coming home as opposed to visiting a B&B. The space is cozy and private. We spent time by the bar, ate in the dining room and sometimes in our room. The location is close to NYC and there’s lots of hiking near by including the Appalachian trail. We filled our bellies and our hearts. Thank you Lanza family.

Vreeland Store catered a party for me this weekend. We have a variety of food allergies so I was careful in my choice. They were FABULOUS!!!!!!!! Charissa (the catering manager) was so thorough and was totally on top of everything. The food was out of this world and my guests ate so much of it I had very little for left overs. Thank you Vreeland Store!!!

Just happened to be in there neck of the woods and was thirsty. Actually was just horse back riding and needed a drink. Thought it was a house at first and as I passed by. But then I remembered it mentioned food and drinks U turn this place was a fulflegde restaurant / bakery / store. Snacks and drinks for the road.
