I want to thank Joshua's for a fantastic dinner on 2/10/2018. A special thank you to our waitress, Heather. She was so kind and friendly. She helped my sister who had ankle surgery, but getting her an ice pack to help with the pain and swelling. Ilive in Sabattus and it was so worth the over an hour drive. I would recommend Joshua's to anyone that is looking for fantastic service, great atmosphere and food that is out of this world.

The tuna I had was the most delicious tuna I have had in my life. The wasabi slaw really kicked it up without overpowering the grade AAA tuna.
The beef medallions were tender and super tasty.
The salad was fresh and delicious.
The blueberry pie, and Maple Walnut Pie were the stuff dreams are made of. yum.
We could feel the love in every bite!

We had an excellent dining experience. I called to make reservations for our anniversary which also happened to be Easter Sunday, leaving a message on their answering machine. I received a call back later that day to confirm our request. On our arrival, a little early, we were promptly greeted and told we would be seated shortly. We decided to have a couple cocktails in the bar while we waited. When our table was ready, the hostess cane and got us. As for the meal itself, while they had many options to choose from, we each chose the stuffed chicken. It was delicious as were the vegetables. The dinner wouldn't be complete with some dessert. We ordered both the fudge pie and key lime pie. They were gooood. As for the service, it was excellent. We would highly recommend dining here as it was also recommended to us. A great experience. One added comment was that they did make it a point to recognize our anniversary.
We love sitting at the bar, enjoying a couple amazing appetizers, their fabulous homemade bread and their signature cocktails. The ambiance is relaxing and welcoming. The staff is top notch and we always meet great people. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something wonderful! It's our favorite date night choice!!
A truly wonderful meal...mussels were unbelievable...waitress did a splendid job of tolerating our group which at times was somewhat out of control...if you are in the area, you must visit here

Joshua's and the Village Tavern in West Kennebunk are my two favorite restaurants in Southern Maine. Service and consistency in quality of food is their secret to success. I've eaten at both places many times and not a single negative experience. But , shhhh ! Don't tell anyone, otherwise I'll never be able to get reservations.
These guys have been doing farm to table before it was cool! My wife and I have been coming here for 10+ years. Though we haven't been in nearly 4 years since our son was born, it was just as amazing as we remembered. I've been saying for years that the duck was the best I've ever had . Years later that statement still holds true !
Cozy intimate atmosphere, a special date night restaurant not recommended for children. Food and cocktail choices are very good. Meals take about 40 minutes as prepared fresh but worth the wait
Family atmosphere... menu excellent, professional staff very busy need reservation or sit at bar. Chef owned . A must when in Wells on vacation.
Our first time there & it was wonderful! The service the atmosphere & the food was superb. My filet mignon melted in my mouth - everything was delicious - dessert fantastic - if you want to experience a special night out then this is it - we were celebrating our anniversary- they added candles to our dessert !! Fabulous dinner from the homemade bread (3 kinds), appetizers, dinners (serving duck and serving haddock) to the desserts. Best creme brulee north of Boston! Coffee was very, very good (important). Service was outstanding too! Lovely dining experience once again!
Every time we go to Maine eating there is a must. We have never been disappointed.

The food was outstanding. My husband the duck , and he would have licked the plate clean if he could have. I had the scallop special. It was so tasty. I would definitely come back again.

What are they talking about?. I just went to Joshua's with my family last night. It must be that the previous reviewers went to the wrong restaurant because our experience was fantastic. Joshua's mother greeted us in a reserved, but friendly manner. She didn't gush, but that isn't what I want or expect from a hostess. She heard us talking about the fact that it was our 11 year old daughter's birthday and she was wished her a happy birthday and then even relayed the fact to our server who was friendly and personable. She made small talk with us and our two children and made all of us feel welcome and comfortable. Each of us ordered a different entree and my husband and I had the opportunity to try all of them. The filet mignon that my daughter ordered was cooked perfectly and tender. It was also well seasoned. My husband had the duck. He was served a large portion of breast as well as a hind-quarter. It was succulent and tender. I had the BBQ pork loin. I couldn't stop eating it! I would have licked the plate clean if I hadn't been in public! My son had the haddock fillet. Again the portion was good sized. The haddock was moist and the onion coating was delicious. Three of our entrees had mashed potatoes and vegetables. The mashed potatoes were delicious. Better than my mothers. :) The vegetables were cooked perfectly. My son's dish came with risotto and vegetables. One of the other reviewers mentioned watery risotto with vegetables. The risotto on my son's dish was not watery, but moist and the rice was perfect, almost but not quite al dente. Perhaps the reviewer mistook the chive oil that was drizzled around the plate as water, but I don't see how they could have. It was filled with flavor. Finally we all got our own desserts. Each one was absolutely delicious. My favorite is always the maple walnut pie. I have ordered it both of times we went previously and I ordered it again last night, so I'm glad everyone else ordered their own so I could sample theirs.
Overall our evening at Joshua's was superb, from start to finish. One of the past reviewers said that it was obvious that Joshua had no formal training. In my opinion the exact opposite is true. He cooks as if he had trained at one of the best culinary schools.
High Class but not High Brow. My husband and I have travelled extensively throughout the United States, England and Ireland. Our meal at Joshua's was one of the best we have every enjoyed. We had a bad travel day with lots of construction but the courteous and friendly waitress said it would be the best part of our day and it was definitely true. We had the carmelized onion encrusted haddock and the mussels. The next time we're in New England, we will definitelhy go back!! Thank you, thank you Joshua and staff. All was wonderful!
Gracious service. Delicious food, all with very fresh, high quality ingredients. The Haddock (carmelized onions encrusted) with risotto was superbly seasoned. The lobster pie was excellent with a not-too-heavy broth. Homemade Maine blueberry pie with homemade ice cream will be long remembered!
This was such an incredible discovery. The atmosphere is so classy and cozy. Every dish was out of this world. We had the duck and chicken dishes followed by crème brûlée and key lime pie and a couple of pomegranate cosmos. Just spectacular, every dish. They have their own homemade organic bread. And if that wasn’t good enough, the service was simply the best. You can not go wrong visiting this exquisite establishment. A definite must. Thank you for a wonderful visit!
One of my favorite restaurants due to quality, fresh, local food and excellent service. Visited last on 6/17/22 with friends; gnocchi was a taste of heaven, crab cakes, chowder and bread basket were all wonderful. Duck and lamb dishes were superb. However two of us ordered the haddock with caramelized onion crust, a dish I have had in the past and it was packed with flavor, but this time the crust did not have the same robust flavor which was disappointing.

I had heard a number of good things going into visiting here, but I was blown away by the food. Everything I got was absolutely delicious. The beef brochette starter was so tender and tasty. For a main course I got home made cavatappi. I just can't iterate enough how delicious the meal was. On top of that, the delicious and diverse homemade bread basket was exciting to try out with a good variety of tasty fresh bread. They also advertise about the organic self grown veggies, and they don't mess around with them, they were the best veggies I've probably ever had.
The only thing to take note of is that this is a fine dining experience, so expect to pay for that, but if you're willing to pay for that, it's extremely worthwhile. My party got there at 7, and they were out of lamb and haddock, which I didn't care about since I wasn't planning on getting either of those dishes, but could be disappointing if you were, and something to possibly inquire about before hand.
One final note is that the menu online versus in the restaurant was slightly different, which surprised me, but was welcome, since the cavatappi I ordered was not on the menu I saw online, but I was excited to try and would recommend to anyone visiting. I'm not sure if the difference in menu is temporary or just not updated yet, but something to pay attention to for sure.
Overall, while pricey, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.

Joshua's is the best restaurant we've eaten at in Maine. We try to get there twice during our short visit each spring. I order the fish special; my husband gets a meat dish. Both are always delicious. Tonight, we added salad and dessert. Wait staff were, as always, friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself takes you back to a time when things were made to last and quality in everything mattered. Thank you, Joshua's!!

Eating at Joshua's really makes our vacation. I called a week in advance to get reservations for two nights. I had salmon and haddock; my husband had the filet and rack of lamb. Salad and mushrooms before the entres, and the first night, we treated ourselves to the key lime pie for dessert. The wait staff, as always, was delightful.
I will dream about these meals until we return next year. Totally divine - every last morsel! Thank you, Joshua's!

Yes, we happily returned to Wells and Joshua's. Tonight, my husband had the filet and I had the salmon. Aren't they stunning? I had to restrain myself long enough to take photos before diving in. Unfortunately, neither one of us had that discipline when the Caesar salad and shrimp appetizer arrived. Everything, right up to the keylime pie and coffee, was once again out of this world. Thank you, Lily, for your great service and wonderful memory!!
We are from Nashville. We met so many great people. This restaurant is top notch. We spend a lot of time at the bar, this place was as good or better than any place have ever been. Go.......just go.
Had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our server was so much fun and personable, fun to talk and laugh with. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu and able to help when we needed. The food was exceptionally fresh and light, so we ate hearty portions and never felt stuffed by any means. Truly appreciate the experience and cannot wait to return. Oh my Gatos, get the house pistachio ice cream!
Food was delicious! Took a long time for food to come out, so don’t go if you’re in a rush. It is a very good atmosphere and very friendly staff!
