I had one of the best dinners that I have had in a very very long time.
And the service couldn't have been better or more friendly.
This location is next to a gas station but don't let that fool you the food is top notch.
The atmosphere is that of a diner, but more open and modern.
I WILL be back.
I had the blackened catfish and it was delicious!
I will add pictures.
PS, they tell me that they are opening up a new location in downtown Waynesville!

A great respite for the weary traveler or the knowing local, this cafe serves up hearty, honest diner food as well as a welcoming family atmosphere. The servers feel like relatives (the ones you actually like, haha), and provide both quick service and friendly conversation.
I visited HC 209 twice during a weekend staycation with my wife.
For supper the server recommended the Iron Duff Burger as a good vegetarian choice. I was skeptical - black bean burgers can be gushy, flavorless wastes of time - but took her advice. This baby was epic! It had beautifully crispy edges and the spicy flavors really popped. The fries were excellent as well.
At breakfast, my omelette was liberally stuffed with the veggies and cheese of my choice and, served with hash browns and toast, was wonderfully satisfying.
Don’t miss the treasures within the display case, made with love by a wonderful mystery lady who goes by the name Mamaw. I’m already dying for another cherry turnover. Bless you Mamaw, whoever you are!
We stopped here at the last minute before heading home and the food was very delicious! Flavorful and served quickly. The service was just as wonderful… if you happen to be in the area or just passing through, definitely stop by!
Stopped at a Haywood 209 Cafe for a quick bite to eat.
Walked into a welcoming atmosphere, our server was friendly and attentive.
The food was out of this world! I had the grilled lemon pepper chicken which was tender and full of flavor. My partner had the mushroom Swiss burger and was highly satisfied, only put it down once. We will definitely be coming back!
We stopped to get gas on a long road trip and were so pleasantly surprised by this diner. Super welcoming atmosphere, very clean, yummy food, and adorable decorations!
Walking in, the nostalgic bar stools and old school booths popped out. I knew instantly that the possibilities of meeting my lofty expectations was feasible. We couldn't have asked for a better waitress as Marietta was a Rockstar. She answered questions and was Johnny on the spot with coffee. The coffee was perfectly made, mild and smooth. When I thought it couldn't get any better, she mentioned the seven layer bar. I swear my eyes went shut as I chewed and a moan slipped out. It's probably the best bar I have ever had. This will be a stop from now on every time I'm in the area.
We were looking for a pace to stop by for a coffee and breakfast, and we only knew the big chain coffeehouse you all know (I was not excited as the food there is usually painful). Then I searched for pancakes and found this place. It was a great surprise to find it, their black coffee was great, pancakes were delicious and the atmosphere was amazing.
I wish we had more places like these around, not only the big chain coffeehouses.
Here on business and googled breakfast near me and BAM this place was close by and was open on a early Sunday morning I was not disappointed in the friendly service from Amanda my waitress and the breakfast made to order as it was delicious 😋
Check this place out! So glad we stopped on our way through. Charming little diner with awesome service. Lots of food options and our waitress recommend several items. Even though we couldn’t try them all I believe her when she said they are all good! Also loved the cinnamon roll.
Stopped for late lunch/early dinner and they didn't disappoint. Its very close to I-40 which I love. Food was good and the price was pretty good too. Definitely worth a stop for something non-chain on your next road trip out this way!
