Review Deacon's Restaurant & Bar - Wauconda

Good Person
I have driven by this place many times, always wondering if it was for golfers or a place to eat. I decided to go there for breakfast and initially when we walked in at 10:45 was told to hurry if I wanted breakfast because they stopped at 11:00. Normally, I would just walk out and go to a place that did not restrict my relaxed morning with a time limit. What is this McDonald's?!! You can't make me eggs at 11:05? So, I took my chance that I could order my food in under 10 minutes. I had the special chicken fried steak and eggs with potatoes. I would say it is definitely a step up from a traditional breakfast place with the view, food, and plating. Clean, tasty, and well made. The lady at the counter initially reminded me of Flo at Mel's diner as being someone who was a little rough on the edges. As it turned out, though, the more we interacted with her, the more we realized she was a friendly and warm-hearted person. She shared some history and gave us a full pot of coffee to drink as we sat outside watching the golfers diff the ball and make terrible drives! It was fun to watch. I will be going back to try lunch and dinner because they had specials every night, which sounded tasty.

Went with friends to Volo Antigue Mall. This was on the way home I me and had over 4 star reviews. There is a golf course next store and i think people cone in after golf. The menu theme is around golf. When walking in, it looks very unassuming. You seat yourself. You definitely take in the decor as vintage and bare bones. But let me talk about the food. I had the special of the chicken salad, with pear. It was not salty, I got it on marbled rye with a side of creamy coleslaw. One other person got the same thing with sweet potato fries, and we shared our sides. After eating, I realized that they forgot to put the roasted pecans in, which I mentioned. She was going to alert the cook for the next customer. It would have made it even better, but it was still very good. The pears were diced and a little crunchy and very flavorful in the dish. The other person got a Buffalo chicken wrap with homemade chips. The chips came hot, and they were huge. Obviously, homemade and a star on the table. The sweet potato fries were crunchy, not greasy, and cooked perfectly. Prices were right and fair. If we are out in this direction again, I will definitely be back.

We came to Deacon's to get the cheesecake and it was fantastic. They don't always have it available, but it was stellar. Our dinner was quick and everything tasted good, but the dessert is a standout. Follow them on Facebook to see what they have available

Absolutely incredible food! I did meet this strange robot calling himself “Deacon, Spymaster of the Armada”, I was a bit confused, but then he offered me some of the best fries I’ve ever eaten! 10/10 would come again.

Both the fish fry and prime rib are excellent so my spouse and I share. Great consistent service. Reasonable prices. Patio during the warmer months very nice and dog friendly.

Good Fish Fry. Very friendly staff. I opted for the sweet potato tots which were a little over done on the outside but still soft in the middle. A lot of your classic bar food dishes. They offer home made soups daily. It can get a bit loud inside. Overall, a great place to stop by and have a bite to eat!

The staff here were very nice. All the food coming out from the kitchen looked delicious. We had fish dinner. The dinner came with fish, green beans, potatoes, coleslaw, and dinner roll. The green beans were done just right. The potatoe pancakes were crunchy and delicious. The fish lightly battered delicious. Coleslaw, I didn't like it, but it was fresh and crunchy. I like my slaw with less dressing. Desert home-made pistachio cheese cake super delicious. We were first-time customers. We will definitely return.

I went there for first time but I felt like I knew stuff for long time. It is clean and well taken care of place. I think that they have homemade deserts so if there is nothing left for day you are out of luck. Fortunately I was able to try there browne with ice cream. It is delicious ! I am definitely coming back for breakfast!

Friendly atmosphere but too loud to hear yourself think. And be careful pulling in and out, as it's right on Route 12. But the Friday fish is delicious and the pistachio cheesecake dessert out of this world! Light, fluffy and not overly sweet. We easily have made this our Friday night stop.
