I came here on a chance... its hidden in the back of bank street. You have to walk from the street to the building. The place is clean and trendy. The people are warm and welcoming. They allowed me try my selection before choosing. I went with pulled pork, mac and cheese, yams and cabbage. For dessert I picked up lemon pound cake and sweet potato pie for him. They did not fail me! The pulled pork was moist and seasoned perfectly. The mac and cheese was a cheesey perfection. The yams were sweet but not overly sweet. The cabbage was ok it could of used a touch more of seasoning. I was too full for dessert but will be sure to review at a later date

Over priced for the small portions. I didn’t like how the food was packaged. The paper trays used to separate the food got wet and began to tear and appeared in my yams. Everything else was pretty good. I ordered smothered pork chop but I’m not sure if that was a smothered pork chop or what. The macaroni was not traditional it tasted like it had vanilla and cinnamon in it. It’s a ok soul food restaurant for Waterbury. I support black own business ✊🏾

My go-to when I'm in Waterbury for lunch! It came highly recommended and it's no surprise why. Their food is always fresh and obvious a whole lot of heart was put into the creation of it. It's fantastic! I had the pulled pork, cabbage and corn pudding with a piece of dense, buttery pound cake for the road. Looking to try breakfast there soon!

I got a variety of things because this was my first time there. I got Large veggies plate with Mac and cheese, yams, and black eye peas and rice, although the latter is sold separately I was given it as one, counting as one of my double portions this of course bumped up this review since the customer service only got better. The plate was priced under 11$. I also got a side of meat, curry chicken under 5$ I got a peach cobbler and a very big piece of lemon pound cake each costing under 5$. So as you can tell the prices are great. Now when I walked in the food didn't look like I grow up so I was scared and to top it off the meat choices wasn't soul to me since there was nothing fried but then I ate the food oh my the veggie plate was great the meat I could do without and the desserts where to sweet for me. I was also able to taste the sweet potato pie and the banana pudding also to sweet but with that said this place gets an A+ for food and B+ for desserts.

Nothing fancy about this place, just good old-fashioned home cooked southern food like your Momma used to make! My wife had the bbq ribs with real potato salad, blackeyed peas and of course cornbread. I had fried chicken with blackeyed peas, collards and of course the cornbread. A nice peach cobbler for dessert and we were stuffed. Good sized portions, VERY reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not our first time there and definitely not our last. GO THERE!

I don't even know where to start because there so many GOOD things I what to say. I mean I've been living in Waterbury over a year and I can rarely find good restaurants to eat at, but Bank St Soul Food, is TOP NOTCH, the customer service is excellent ! I think it's a family owned business and the employees that work there are so welcoming and will wait on you while you explore the menu (so many goodies) and even give you samples, there isn't any long wait or line so your In-N-Out ! The FOOD is AWESOME, I ordered Mac-cheese, collard greens, and baked chicken the mac-cheese was so cheesy and the chicken was cooked to perfection lol, I honestly have no complaints, because it was that Good and there the BEST in Waterbury !!!! Bank St. Soul Food is a rare Find and I'm so pleased I stopped by and I'll definitely will be back again.

The lemonade is beautiful. Over all what I ordered wasn’t that bad. It was the fish plate with patato salad Mac and cheese and green beans. The fish could have been a Bit more crispy and the Mac and cheese wasn’t done traditionally but other then that it was ok.
