Sweet Agave Bar &grill

The one thing we miss about Washington DC! This is a friendly local hangout that's always busy and has really good food (and Margaritas!) to boot. It's across the street from two well-known, fancier, spots that are also popular, but whenever we headed in that direction, this was our first choice for a consistently good meal. It will cheer you right up!

Small neighborhood Tex-Mex Bar n Grill. Service was excellent as Restaurant let's us change our reservation on the day of our family outing. 12 out of 16 family members made the trip, and ALL were very satisfied with their food. The extensive bar severed up delicious margaritas in all kinds of flavors. I had to order a second one. Food came pretty quickly from the kitchen, and it was hot, steaming, and delicious. Make reservations, be prepared to look for parking if you have a large party, but definitely go and enjoy their cuisine. What a great find!

I actually got carryout from this place and the food is incredibly good and the closest thing I've had in this area that tastes like the tastiest tex-mex I've had when I lived in Texas. Their chicken fajitas for 2 and enchiladas mixta (got 1 chicken, 1 beef and 1 black bean and spinach) were all super tasty and flavorful! The portions of everything were really large, including all the tortillas and sides that come with the fajitas! Their salsa (I ordered 1 pint) and their other salsa (one orange and one green-they threw in about 2 small 1 oz containers of each) were the best salsas I've ever had! There is no other restaurant in this DC and MD area that even comes close to being this and I've tried all of them. Thank you so much Sweet Agave!!! :)

100% the best restaurant of its kind in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. The chips and salsa are fresh and on point. The cheese dip is amazing as well, if you’re into that. You seriously can’t go wrong with anything on the entire menu. The quality is top-tier. Amazing quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, you name it. Awesome Happy Hour with great drink selections. A dessert menu full of delectable delights like the Tres Leches; also the ice cream is fantastic; so is the chocolate cake. The atmosphere is so enjoyable during the day or in the evening. It’s a great place to watch a big game or just have a drink with a friend. The service is fantastic. Becky, Aymer, Inmar, Evelyn, Carlos, Fatima, we love all you guys!

Good & friendly customer service and homely, colourful & nicely decorated restaurant. I had their full stack of ribs which came with some rice & salad. I thought I wouldn’t finish it but the ribs & BBQ sauce were finger licking good and succulent I finished the rack. Family friendly and the kids enjoyed their meals - will recommend .

Circling back to leave this review for a restaurant I have frequented for a couple of years now…SA has aged like a fine wine and last night was the cherry. We sat outside - it was gorgeous- the service was awesome- but the food….the food last night was absolutely off the charts incredible. We got the steak and shrimp fajitas- it’s simply not possible to cook that dish better than that. A+ establishment and not a bank breaker like the rest of the neighborhood.

Perfect neighborhood restaurant: delicious food, attentive and kind service, cozy ambience, good prices. Highly recommended. *** All of the 5-star reviews are accurate. The complimentary corn chips are served warm with a notable salsa— thick and smoky. Outstanding margaritas, plantains and Mexican corn. Excellent shrimp entree, very good enchiladas— the spinach is a star!— made excellent with the addition of the spicy green salsa (ask and it will be cheerfully supplied.) Both vegetarians and carnivores can eat well here. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Upper NW DC and environs!

We had dinner Friday night at this local neighborhood bar and restaurant. Seated immediately even though we had no reservation. Waters and chips with salsa served right away. The frozen margaritas were excellent and the regular ones were too. We had tacos and enchiladas for the main course and they both were probably the best I've ever eaten. An order of "plantains" which were platanos maduros, excellent. We finished up with dessert - tres leches cake and sopapillas. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely return!

First of all let me say that the service is great! We were helped to get exactly what we meant to eat but it exceeded our expectations! WOW This place is AMAZING! Location, service, food, everything! First they bring to the table chips and salsa. Not just any chips and salsa; FRESH chips and the most delicious salsa! My wife and i had: Queso dip, mexican corn, pork chimichanga, and the lomo saltado. Honestly, I can’t pick what i liked the most. Also, the três leches is delicious! A MUST, not only in the Palisades, but in all of DC metro area!
