Sakana Japanese Restaurant - Washington DC - Photo album

This sushi establishment appears to be a cherished gem among locals, given its elusive location, but it is absolutely deserving of the effort to seek it out. Delighting in sashimi, tempura, and a chilled 22 oz Ichiban beer proved to be a splendid dining experience, particularly after an extensive jo
Sakana Japanese Restaurant in Dupont Circle is a hidden gem that will transport you straight to Tokyo. But before we dive into the food, let's talk about the history of Dupont Circle itself. Did you know that Dupont Circle was once a rural area known for its farmland and orchards? It wasn't until th
Love this little sushi shop. Reminds me of similar places in Japan. Fresh fish, crispy nori, warm rice and Japanese flavors and feels. Tamago was good. You can tell the tamago is made in house! Many sushi restaurants purchase and resell it. Bento was good. Tea was typical sencha you find in 寿司屋 in J
The fried oyster roll was excellent with a perfect crunch. I can order that alone and will be perfectly content The eel roll was warm and the spicy tuna very good as well. Will order again.
good priced food. tasted solid. low key. spicy tuna looked a little sus. otherwise great place to go. solid sushi, solid setting.
Neighborhood gem. There is more to be said for a consistently good restaurant at a reasonable price. This is actually rare for a sushi restaurant. I come here for the sashimi but there are hot dishes as well. From outside, one can easily walk by this relatively small space. Inside, the long and nar
The waitstaff was really nice!! We had a party of 11 that grew into 13, but they were very accommodating about it. Two of us showed up more than half an hour after the rest, but they didn't mind and brought all our food out together (I think). The waitress made sure to refill our waters and was v ni
The cutest hole in the wall joint. Loved everything we got (sushi) and the service was very good. Places like this make DC special to visit.
Hidden Japanese gem near DuPont . The restaurant was close to full on a Wednesday evening. We loved all the rolls we ordered
Great price perfect portion for sushi. Must try shrimp tempura.
Sushi rolls were the perfect size, very fresh, and great taste. Excited to go back and try other dishes besides rolls. Highly recommend!
Good sushi, yummy miso and really fresh seafood. Totally recommend it
The sushi is always really fresh and tasty, and the bill is always reasonable. I really like the bento boxes. The salmon roll sometimes comes raw and sometimes comes cooked which is confusing but both are good. Good for carryout or a casual sit-down dinner.
We were lucky to stumble upon this place... Only a few tables, you have a view on the kitchen -always good- and friendly people. Food as expected: very good.
Nice and friendly staff. Delicious rolls. I'm not usually a fan of miso soup, but theirs was done well. The noodles were done perfectly, but Something was off about the fish cake and the pork was SUPER dry for me. I've also had their don bowls...YUMMY!
Just amazing! If you have been to Japan and you eat sushi, do not skip SUSHI (rice&fish) here! The Japanese chef/owner knows how to make the perfect sushi rice here which is so hard to find nowadays (most Japanese restaurants here owned by other Asians). For those who says the food here is bad, I su
