memorial day brunch was great. had a kale salad and a burger. service was attentive and very good. nice views and if the weather had been better could have been outside. not cheap but in line with many places in WDC. if you are looking for relaxed a good choice as plenty of time is given for the meal. good place to take that date.
The Grill Room in the Rosewood Hotel is wonderful! A good dining experience for me is all about the food, combined with the service and the atmosphere. This restaurant is on the canal in Georgetown. The view is lovely, with inside and outside seating. The furnishings inside are so beautiful, high-end, and comfortable. The staff is very welcoming and professional. The food is very good. Combined, it makes for a wonderful upscale dining experience in Georgetown.
Attended a wedding dinner here. The food is absolutely perfect - I can't even critique it because there's really nothing that can be improved. The staff was similarly superb. It's not cheap, but that's to be expected at a place like this.
My love for the Capella Hotel and Rye Bar brought me to the Grill Room for brunch on a brisk and cloudy winter's day. Can I just say that Capella can do no wrong? From artisanal cocktails to locally sourced cuisine, their entire program is A plus.
The dining room is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Floor to ceiling windows, French doors, al fresco C&O Canal tables. Everything looks like it belongs in a home decor magazine. I love the semi-private dining room too. Enclosed on 3 sides by frosty glass and white bookshelves filled with trinkets like vases, decanters, glasses, and books, the room has a long table meant for 10 with plush armchairs, beautiful place settings, delightful flower arrangements, and glass sliding doors on the 4th side.
We were able to get an al fresco table, perfect for people watching. I love that you get just enough of a view of the buzz on the streets but not a full on view of the canal water. Just sitting in the dining room makes you feel classy and ritzy.
To start, we shared half dozen Kumamoto oysters in a soy-yuzu mignonette. For my entree, I ordered the shakshouka, which is eggs poached in a basil-scented tomato sauce with avocado and crème fraîche. Absolutely fantastic! I love the lightness of the poached eggs combined with the basil, tomatoes, and fresh avocados. Mixed in with a little crème fraîche, the dish was perfectly balanced and refreshing. For dessert, I had an affogato which is a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and La Colombe espresso.
Service was also, as expected, wonderful. Our server was very friendly and accommodating with just the right amount of presence. Despite us being the only ones in the dining room for the majority of our meal, she never rushed us to hurry out.
I highly recommend The Grill Room for lunch especially for their Ala Carte Sandwiches and wood oven pizzas.
If you are in the mood for a specialty cocktail, you must try their Sea Salt Exchange-Vanilla Bean Vodka, Godiva, caramel sugar, chocolate syrup, caramel salted rim, its like having a cocktail/ dessert in one!
Wasn't busy when I visited. Had the Tuna Tartar and the Grill Room Burger, both of which are good choices. Waiters are very friendly. The other clientele do stare a lot.
Even though the menu is slightly altered with the departure of the executive chef my food was still very lovely. The butter nut squash ravioli is a must have.
very good restaurant with excellent service and great wine list, all the dishes we tried were very good specially the salmon which was wild and fresh, the view to the river was romantic
Great experience overall. Good food, drinks, and service in a beautiful setting along the canal.
Very elegant restaurant. However, always very limited menu.
