Second time here. First time was for brunch and this time for dinner. Both times were excellent. Great service, great food, and great ambience. For dinner, I enjoyed the cod fritters and the egg & lump crab pasta with shrimp butter the most. Would definitely go again.
i go for tapas wherever i can find them, and joselito’s didn’t disappoint. the salmon salad, salted cod, chorizo pasta, manchego, and gazpacho were delicious. the cocktails were a beautiful compliment to the food. our server Mel took great care of us and we could not have asked for a better meal. everything came out timely and served beautifully. a wonderful place to enjoy a classic Spanish meal.
One of my favorite restaurants. An eclectic and diverse menu full of creative and delicious items. Having most of the menu be available in various portion sizes is clever and inviting. The specialty cocktail offerings are equally interesting. Restaurant is pleasantly quiet even when full, and is an excellent place to spend a couple hours sampling excellent food and having a pleasant conversation. The service is attentive without being intrusive, which is important given that you'll be ordering frequently through the night.
Came here on a whim with a friend and was blown away by the menu and service. Easily on of the best meals I have ever eaten. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Definitely going to be returning.
We attended a wine tasting event/dinner here. Everything was excellent. Me and my better half were celebrating our 41st and were given a real nice bottle of wine and a special dessert.
I rank this place and Taberna del Alabardero as the best Spanish restaurants in D.C. Taberna del Alabardero is great for tapas and paellas, while Joselito is awesome for less commonly known authentic Spanish dishes. Almost all dishes came in three different sizes.
We did a multi-day food tour of DC and this restaurant was my absolute favorite. The beef took a transcendent quality in a way that mystifies me; I have no idea how they did it. Their tuna carpaccio was delightfully balanced with a house guacamole and a combination of citrus. Not a single dish fell short of excellence. This food scored better that our Michelin star venues this weekend. Though I have only been to about a dozen places, I have personally acclaimed this food as the best in DC. Their menu is rotating so you may not find some of the dishes in the photos below, but based on my experience, you really can’t go wrong with anything they prepare.
Ate here for dinner for the first time. Wide variety of tapas from vegetarian, seafood to meat. Everything was very fresh and beautifully presented. Small dining room with a spacious bar. Service was great. Will definitely come back for their lunch special. I live in the neighborhood but it's in a very convenient location across the street from Eastern Market metro.
Excellent tapas - highly recommend!!! We had the tuba rudo, grilled octopus, Cod bueñuelos, & anchovies. Plus their white cranberry mimosa, & espresso with condensed milk 😍
We're always on the lookout for something special. We were invited to a wine dinner, courtesy of Schneider's of Capitol Hill. Not a large restaurant, but sizeable enough to host 50-60 guests and intimate enough to make everyone feel at home.
This is a Spanish restaurant, and all the wines were from a single vintner. Their US rep was there, as was Terry Brown, Schneider's wine manager. We had a tasting menu. Food was fabulous and the wines provided good accompaniment, especially the reds.
Well worth the trip. We'll be back.
This place is really quite special. Fantastic Spanish Tapas prepared with love and an upscale attention to detail, presentation, authenticity, and flavor profile. Cocktails are well-balanced, fun, and diverse. The service in this quaint cafe-like restaurant is top-notch. This place is a gem in the Eastern Market area.
The best place to get amazing sangria!! I always order the pitcher for $40 which gets you four glasses (so about $10 a glass as seen in the picture). I loved the soups that were offered but I wasn't sold on my main entree unfortunately. Portions were fine
So delicious I don't even know where to start. First of all the Sangria is out of this world. Karen, our waitress was amazing. She guided us through all the dishes! The raw tuna blew us away. The flan was divine. Definitely loved it and want to go back! The scallops appetizer was so refreshing. The ambiance is serene and tranquil, a nice respite from crazy outside. You think you are in a quaint European village inside. What a great find!
My husband and I dined at Joselito's this weekend on the recommendation from a friend. We're so glad we've been introduced to this amazing restaurant. They have outdoor seating -- but since we were there for an early dinner, the interior sunroom was vacant so ate inside. The food is perfection. I felt like I was in Spain. The decor has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. And the wait staff is super friendly and accomodating. When the food came, I couldn't help myself and dove into the bread, olive oil and herbs. My sea bass was light and seasoned perfectly. My husband enjoyed his pork shoulder. Since we don't get out much, I splurged on the french fries. Best. Fries. Ever! We can't wait to go back.
The tasty tapas establishment in Eastern Market, Joselito's was recently added to Michelin Guide's 2019 Bib Gourmand rating.
In true Spanish fashion, crowds will not begin congregating here until after 8 or 9pm. An interesting aspect you discover right away is how portions are served. You'll wish other restaurants use the same philosophy. Most selections can be served in the tapas (appetizer/small plate), media racíon (European entree), or racíon (family style) sizes. This works well for those wanting to try a lot and not break the bank. Notable standouts are the monkfish, crispy cod fritters, and duck.
Stay away from the one size only 'Arroz' - A combination of a paella and bouillabaisse, with only a half dozen shellfish for a steep $25. An important dynamic missing here is the pacing. All of your tapas will arrive at the same time. Making you decide which one to eat warm and which one cold.
You'll see why Michelin chose to make note of Joselito this year with the deliciousness of their cuisine, but be sure it isn't without it's faults.
I love this place! Everything we order was fantastic. I love their Arroz Caldoso de Pescados y Maricos and have been craving it again. Their mocktails are super yummy. I will be coming back to sample more of their menu.
Amazing little spot. Excellent service, great food - from tapas to family style. Has a great back story and they seem to have kept their soul. Flavorful cocktails and nice sangria. Had a beautiful, long dinner here and our server was gracious and informative.
Stopped in for restaurant week. Overall great experience and great food. The avocados and mangos weren't quite ripe in the salad, the chorizo in the penne dish was a touch too smokey and overpowered the dish, and the chocolate custard wasn't quite set. Cocktails were very well balanced, will definitely be back to try some more dishes off the main menu
