Review Supra - Washington DC

It was by coincidence that we came to this restaurant, because it was close to our hotel!!! My husband was doubting because obviously he didn’t know Georgian food! IT WAS AMAZING!!! I loved EVERYTHING we ordered!!! I only missed a bottle of Georgian wine :( when I thought about it it was too late… But the beer was good! Excellent kitchen!!!! I definitely would love to go back if I had more days in DC!!

Khachapuri was amazing. The desserts were AMAZING—if you are going to this restaurant, definitely be ready to order them. The ambiance allows for private and intimate conversations. We went during restaurant week, where we got 3 courses for $40. We were served appetizer, entree, dessert. For appetizer, we got corn fritters and roasted potatoes. For the entree, we got a roasted veggie platter. for dessert, we got a grape desert and honey cake. One thing I must commend this restaurant for is their presentation. It was class to be eating something presented so nicely. The vibrancy and intricacy of their dishes made it well worth the price tag.

Everything was amazing. Would recommend the boat cheese bread and the spicy beet salad was outstanding. Cheese was not sour actually, but what every cheese bread dreams of being. Great place for a date night or group night out. Upscale atmosphere. Probably leave the kids at home. Parking might be a challenge.

We booked Supra last minute while visiting DC and it was AMAZING! The juicy soup dumplings have the best wrap, not too doughy or chewy, just perfect! The khachhpuri is so cheesy—you will have to share or else it’d be too heavy. Everything on the Gobi platter from pickles to dips was incredible. Also their fries (more like home style fries) are perfectly crispy and delicious.

Great place for trying Georgian food, even if it’s your first time! Big and well organized, the decoration both inside and outside is inviting! We tried the basic Georgian dishes, and service was helpful in recommending options. Dishes take a little time, so don’t rush it, just enjoy the food! Soup dumplings are a must (they’re big, maybe order the 3 piece not the 6), and Ajaruli is also a must!!!

I've never tried Georgian food before, but I'm so happy I came here! The share platter, the cheesy bread, and the soup dumplings were all incredible! From meats, to cheeses, to veggies, this cuisine and place certainly had something to offer for everyone. Would highly recommend the spicy Zelynski and the blackberry mule drinks. Just an important note: like everywhere in DC, parking can be hard to be find, so I definitely recommend going at least 30 minutes before your reservation to find parking, and definitely be prepared to walk a few minutes. I did see a lamb chops dish I didn't get to try, so I'm excited to go back and try that!

We had an enjoyable dinner at Supra! Our group ordered probably one of everything. It was ALL good! The dumplings were delish! If I could get a pot of that broth or a bowl of these dumplings in a soup I would end up buying this so often they would be a fortune 500 company! Recommend the off dry red and the elderberry old fashions!

Been here quite a few times now. The food is always excellent. The corn fritters were a fun appetizer. Don’t skip on the khachapuri. We usually get the ajaruli but we recently also tried the mushroom one and it was fantastic. The soup dumplings are reminiscent of Chinese soup dumplings, just larger. Comfort food for me! The cheese and potato dumplings remind me of pierogies - creamy and delicious. We ordered the whole chicken - excellent for sharing as it is cut into individual pieces. We like coming here, we’ve never had any problems with the food. It’s excellent! The restaurant is small and a bit crowded. The outdoor patio is under a tent. Really recommend making a reservation since it can become very busy!

I loved the decor here, and many of the dishes were really yummy. I especially loved the potato and cheese dumplings. We got the mushroom khachapuri, but I would get the classic (with the egg) next time. The service was a bit slow, but everyone was really kind.

First time I came here was a few years ago for restaurant week with some of my girlfriends and we had a great experience. Came back again when a friend was visiting recently and it did not disappoint! All the food were super delicious and we had great service. I didn’t get any drinks but my friends enjoyed the drinks as well. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area!

Insanely good food. Our Russian family is in love with Georgian food and always looks for every opportunity to find more. This was the first place in the area to really, really impress. Khachapuri were just exemplary. The meat khachapuri was also kickass. My one gripe, the khinkali were dry as a desert. They need to be soupy, wet, with enough bouillon to fill a shotglass! This was not it. It was very good meat in an excellent dough encasing. But the khinkali are the crown dish of the Georgian people - my prime expectation was on them. I will be happy to give a 5 star rating when I come back and find the khinkali nice and moist! gmadlobt, supra!

Amazing! Georgian food is not something that one finds on every corner, even in DC. I came here to try their khachapuri — the quintessential, traditional Georgian food of egg, cheese, and butter in a boat-shaped loaf of bread. It did not disappoint! The filling had a delightful, slightly tangy bite similar to white cooking wine, but which I attributed to the fluffy, stringy cheese. The staff were very helpful, answering numerous questions and generally making the food relatable. Although packed inside and on the patio for dinner on a Friday evening, we had no trouble getting a table for Saturday brunch. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

An absolute A-list experience. Amazing fresh delectable food, knowledgeable and friendly wait staff, delicious wine. Everything was completely five stars. I 100% recommend this place if you are into fantastic food served in a great atmosphere.

Raised on Georgian food and drink, the variety of flavors and traditional combinations are lacking in authenticity. Though certain appetizers (imeruli kcahapuri and assorti) resembled original taste, main dishes like the xinkali failed to meet standards, not to mention the grossly overpriced plates and small portions. Georgian food is diverse enough in flavor that you may want to eat it regardless of quality but the restaurant is attempting to pimp a Georgian experience under the guise of exoticism. Worst of all, our table (with nearly a dozen people of Georgian heritage) was told that we would have to leave after 2 1/2 hours because another reservation was taking our place. Never in any restaurant have I, or anyone in our party, been asked to leave with food and drink on the table. No notification beforehand of a time limit, with an assistant manager rudely notifying us when an hour remained. You simply do not ask customers to leave when they are still ordering. Only a poorly managed business would need this quick a customer turnover to maintain afloat. Georgian hospitality is an essential trait to the entire country and Supra showed disrespect to the values of a culture they’re pretending to reflect.

Great place! for me as native Georgian I was surprised with quality of the food. Good service and very nice design ! Food was fantastic ! Great wine selection and the most of all price for good food is just right. You can have a great food and glass of wine for a reasonable price. Loved the design !!!

The food was so different and nothing like I have ever eaten. I loved the spices of tarragon, cardamom and garlic. We had beet salad, along with the traditional dishes of kachapuri and Khinkale. All Devine! Also they have a wonderful Georgian wine list. A must try at least once!

Unique food. Amazing ambiance. Friendly service. Kid friendly. Extremely good! Flawless gluten free without any compromise (well...ok I couldn't have the cheese bread but the entire desert menu was gluten free). Outside of building a parking garage I am not sure what they could have done to make it better!

Was in Tbilisi 5 years ago. Fell in love with the food and the culture. Went to Supra for the first time, and I had one bite—took me back. Perfectly authentic. I’ve since been back to this restaurant for the third time. Never disappoints! The only thing I would recommend is that the wait staff brush up on their wine knowledge. Georgia has such a rich history of wine—it should be more of the dialogue, just as much as the food.

My husband and I had lunch. Carlos our waiter was fantastic, the food and wine was amazing. I would recommend this for everyone.

The food is good but a bit over priced (even for DC). I really didn't get an authentic Georgian feel either. They are really missing something! Georgia is all about hospitality and I just didn't get that at Supra. The wine we had also tasted old. I understand natural wines are hard to keep but you can't serve old wine. As much as I love Georgian wine I had to switch to beer. So would I go back? Probably not!

Food is delicious, but service is very bad, especially a administrator lady (not waiter). He tried to help to waiter but never knows who ordered meal, she prohibits everything what we did. It was awful !

The service, atmosphere, food, cocktails, Georgian wine and decor all add up to a unique and truly delish experience. I can’t wait to go back and try more on the menu. Though the Ajaruli is a must!! And helps if you love walnuts :)

Can’t thank enough Jonathan and Laura for opening up the best Georgian restaurant in US. Malkhaz, the chef makes delicious and homey food. The ambience and restaurant team is amazing. I love love love this place.
