Shelly's Back Room

One of the best combo of sports bar and cigar lounge in DC. Service is awesome, most of the time. The unique signature chicken wings and fresh-cut fries are great! Wine and spirits list are expansive and high quality. That goes for the impressive selection of cigars, too. It's normally a Who's Who list of business leaders in the house on any given day.

I enjoyed the atmosphere; especially the outdoor seating. The staff was very pleasant and engaging. The food was pretty good...better than I expected. You can take you own cigars, but you have to spend $30 minimum. I consider that a fair tradeoff. I had my own cigars, so I was guaranteed to have cigars that I like, and I had a great atmosphere to enjoy them in. I don't get to D.C. often, but I plan to be back at Shelly's during my next trip.

Can't wait to go back here! It's like walking into the basement at your grandparents' house, and your cousins start showing up. Shelly's was warm, inviting, and intimate. The crowd was mixed. They managed to utilize every space with allows small tables of 4-6, sofas, and single chairs/recliners for the loner dropping in. People were chatting, conducting business, eating, reading, watching TV, and meeting new people. It's a great place if you don't mind a lot of people in a small space. Street parking is crazy so be prepared to walk a couple of blocks. They could improve their tequila offerings, but we settled with Dobel Anejo 😊 I heard their Old Fashions are good too! Our table had wings, loaded fries, a steak & cheese sandwich, and Shelly's burger! All delish. Their fries remind me of 5 Guys...yum! We brought our own sticks, but they have a selection to purchase from. Be prepared to spend $$$. It's not overly priced, however, depending on your smoking, eating, and drinking habits along with the size of your party - you may want to be prepared with a budget in mind. Otherwise, smoke on and enjoy Shelly's vibe!
