Shelly's Back Room is an outstanding cigar bar in the Washington DC area. This is now the second occasion that I've been here, and it has been a great experience both times. The cigar selection and atmosphere here are fantastic!
Very nice and old school look. It was busy so our service was okay but everything else was good. They recommend everyone to buy worth of 30$. I would definitely come back here
My go-to spot in Downtown DC when I want to smoke a good cigar. The atmosphere is great and one of the few cigar lounges in the area that serves food. I always bring my out of town folks here.

Absolutely great place to enjoy a cigar while you're in DC. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to have at least once a cigar if not more.
Delicious!! A great sized menu with so many options. I got the Thursday special which was a chicken tender cordon bleu sandwich, so good! Crispy and sooo juicy! The bun was so good and you can tell the fries are fresh cut! Was a nice dinner outside on the patio with great service!
I enjoyed the atmosphere; especially the outdoor seating. The staff was very pleasant and engaging. The food was pretty good...better than I expected.
You can take you own cigars, but you have to spend $30 minimum. I consider that a fair tradeoff. I had my own cigars, so I was guaranteed to have cigars that I like, and I had a great atmosphere to enjoy them in.
I don't get to D.C. often, but I plan to be back at Shelly's during my next trip.
One of the best combo of sports bar and cigar lounge in DC. Service is awesome, most of the time. The unique signature chicken wings and fresh-cut fries are great! Wine and spirits list are expansive and high quality. That goes for the impressive selection of cigars, too. It's normally a Who's Who list of business leaders in the house on any given day.
I love coming here. It's my 2nd time here and they have an extensive cigar and drink list for whiskey and scotch. We also ordered the Crab Artichoke Dip and Cheesy Bread that was pretty decent. The cocktail Japanese Soho was also really good. Good service, great cigars and a laid back atmosphere.

Can't wait to go back here! It's like walking into the basement at your grandparents' house, and your cousins start showing up. Shelly's was warm, inviting, and intimate. The crowd was mixed. They managed to utilize every space with allows small tables of 4-6, sofas, and single chairs/recliners for the loner dropping in. People were chatting, conducting business, eating, reading, watching TV, and meeting new people. It's a great place if you don't mind a lot of people in a small space. Street parking is crazy so be prepared to walk a couple of blocks. They could improve their tequila offerings, but we settled with Dobel Anejo 😊 I heard their Old Fashions are good too! Our table had wings, loaded fries, a steak & cheese sandwich, and Shelly's burger! All delish. Their fries remind me of 5 Guys...yum! We brought our own sticks, but they have a selection to purchase from. Be prepared to spend $$$. It's not overly priced, however, depending on your smoking, eating, and drinking habits along with the size of your party - you may want to be prepared with a budget in mind. Otherwise, smoke on and enjoy Shelly's vibe!
