Everything there is excellent and if it's not, the employees and the manager will make it happen! Being a bit pricey, for me, it's not the place to go on a regular basis, but for a celebration, no better place! Their sangria is great, their tapas superb and the entrees, to die for!
Last night I arrived with a group of 6 older ladies. We had a reservation for 6:30 but didn't arrive until 7:00, traffic! We also had tickets for a cathedral concert at 8:00. The place was packed and we had to wait about 15 min. for a table. But, while waiting, the manager had croquettes brought out to us! Also, brought 4 plates of complimentary food to our table as soon as we were seated! Wow! Then, we had several staff members who took care of our orders quicker than anyone would have thought possible. The food was amazing! I am definitely going back when I am not in such a rush. Thank you to the whole staff for taking such good care of us!
Great food, service and atmosphere, what more can you ask for. Plus with seasonally changing items on the menu it never gets old. It's always nice whether to grab a quick bite, hangout with friends for a drink or enjoy a family dinner.
The croquetas are on point In general a great place for tapas with great atmosphere.
Chef Joseph is an absolute genius in the kitchen at Barcelona in Cathedral Heights. Order everything on the menu. No...seriously. Get everything, you won't regret it.
Food is excellent. Our server was so lovely and warm and made sure we had everything we needed. The hostess was so friendly and welcoming and got us the perfect seat outside where we requested. Love the atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!
Holy bread and wine, nice bar good ambient, loudly clients ( in a good way ), good Spanish food tapas y pinchos !!!!
Absolutely fantastic chef, Saan! Do yourself a favour and go there!!!
Excellent food and service. Wine recommendations were on point. Look forward to returning next time we are in DC!
So...this place was awesome. Staff was attentive. Very polite and knowledgeable about their menu. Jason the GM greeted us and made us feel right at home. Great dining experience!
The Barcelona is a really delicious tapas bar / restaurant. The room is air-conditioned with a very trendy and nice decoration. There are also tables outside. The tapas are as good as in Spain, the waiters are very nice and the sangria is really delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant that I love!
I prefer this location to the other one because it's quieter and service tends to be quicker. I like bringing out of town guests here because there are so many different types of food for everyone. The staff is very good at recommending how much food to order without it being too much. The wine flights are good, outdoor seating is nice. I love their paella and they have lots of vegetarian options.
Stopped by for a bite, so glad we did. Great food and cocktail! Can’t wait to go back. So many wonderful tapas to choose from.
How have I never been to Barcelona before??? I had dinner there last night and it was one of the best meals I have had, period. First of all, the service was absolutely fantastic. Some of the best service I've had in the city. We let our server know we're vegetarians, and she marked up a menu for us letting us know what we could eat, which I really appreciated. I also appreciated the large selection of veggie options. I ordered sangria, which was excellent, and then the beets, hummus, Brussels sprouts, patatas bravas, and mushroom croquettes, as well as a goat cheese soaked in red wine. Everything, down to the free bread and olive oil, was life changing. I had an absolutely incredible dining experience and I already can't wait to return.
a wide range of menu items, all delicious, obviously pricey but it’s worth it. my favorites were the labneh, scallops, and polpo carpaccio
I had a great time here the other night. Everything was tasty and delicious. The service was very good. They recommended a couple wines which was nice. Due to covid no candles for the birthday obviously but the cake and presentation was nice. The steak was very tasty but only if you like truffle. Truffle is in a lot of the dishes. It was a little too chilly to sit outside so we waited for indoor seating. This is a tapas styled restaurant so make sure you are prepared to order a bunch and share with the table. Best way to do it! I loved it. Definitely will go back. Make sure to call in advance to get a reservation they do book up. Street parking so give yourself some time to do that too.
Best place I’ve eaten all year! Katie is a fantastic manager, you can tell she really engages and gives her all. Amazing effort to ensure we were well taken care of. Andres was a great server, couldn’t even tell he was new!
This is the second location I have been to and I am happy to say that both locations do not at all disappoint and set a high bar for a dining experience. Always excellent wine selection and incredible tapas!
The chorizo and fig in balsamic vinaigrette is my favorite out of dozens of things I have tried
A wonderful time with incredibly delicious food! Well portioned, and prompt - each course was out almost immediately after the other. Our server (I forget her name but she had really cool blue-ish hair) we very thorough in her description of each dish and was super attentive and kind
Delicious and lively. Service at the bar is preferred. Wonderful to have a Spanish centered restaurant in this neighborhood. We arrived on an late afternoon, around 5:30PM. There were plenty of tables at the time. Most everything was delicious from the spicy clams, broccolini, and zucchini. Must try is the squid pasta cooked in a paella style.
One of the best places I've been to for both service and food. I've never had impeccable service before, and I'd love to thank Chauncey for that experience; he was so polite, attentive and amazing at his job. He made sure there were no dishes that contained allergic ingredients for me, and just chatting with him brightened the place up. He didn't interrupt us at any point.
The food was splendid. I loved the fries and that aioli sauce. Seriously amazing, especially the olive oil pancakes. I had such an amazing time there. I tried my first charcuterie board here and it did not disappoint. Chauncey asked the chef for a soft cheese recommendation and it was perfect. The drink recommendation from Chauncey was on point as well, definitely what I needed.
I'm so excited to go back one day.
I have lived in DC going on 13 years and it’s so rare to find a bar that gives a sh— anymore. Maybe it’s a Covid thing but either way happened to find myself at this location tonight and the bartender Erick was incredible. Attentive and friendly while also recommending great food and drink options. Kate the GM also was great. Overall I felt like a regular having only been to this location once and I really value that so will definitely will be back to this location because of the staff.
Food was surprisingly better than expected! Almost all tapas were delicious. The empanadas were great, but they looked reheated (microwaved) as the dough didn’t feel fresh. Heating up empanadas correctly is essential for a good result. Our server only came for our initial drinks. We wanted to get more drinks and they wouldn’t stop by. Maybe end of night, but in any case this was a little bit annoying. I will go back one day.
Eric and Katie were so welcoming and hospitable! We truly loved their recommendations for wine and the delicious food. We had a few apps, the team was killer at the bar and creating the best vibes for the guests.

Went for a glass of wine and some tapas and some charcuterie. The portions for the charcuterie were excellent. I usually feel robbed paying $$ for a speck of cheese. The selection was excellent and sizable. The jamon was generous as well. The octopus/pulpo was flavorful and tender. Would only suggest warm pulpo on a cold bean side was off-putting. Service was good but not great at the bar. Worth the visit.
Good food (except for the ribs, which were dry), but marred by the indifference to how late they are seating you for a reservation. Saying "it's a busy Friday night" and acting annoyed when you ask for a prediction on the wait time is no way to make your customers feel welcome. If you're not even going to bother trying to honor reservations on busy nights /times, the change some policies (don't accept reservations at those times, or limit table time).
Had the absolute best experience at Barcelona Cathedral Heights thanks to manager Catie. Her service was incredible and she was not only flexible and tended to my party quickly, but when I left my wallet at the restaurant was super accommodating and understanding. The food was delicious and servers were fun! Would recommend to anyone and is definitely a top 3 restaurant in DC.
