Reviews Fancy Radish

My husband and I brought two of our non-vegan friends from out of town here on Saturday night and everyone absolutely LOVED it. It makes me so happy to have a place like this to widen my friends views on how versatile and delicious plant-based food can truly be. Every dish was unique and incredibly tasty! We ordered so much food to split between the four of us and we were all so blown away with each plate. It was definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had as everything was perfectly cooked, flavorful, beautifully presented and so mouthwateringly delicious and savory. I really like the high end side of vegan food. Our tops picked were the spicy dan dan noodles, rutabaga fondue, Peruvian potatoes, trumpet mushrooms and the seared maitake. Fancy Radish’s mushroom game is so on point! I cannot wait to come back! A huge thank you to Chefs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby for bringing down their passion and wisdom to the DC area!!

Though I'm an ardent meat lover, would not have any problem giving up it up if I could eat food prepared and served by Fancy Radish every day! Went there to dinner last night, not sure what to expect, and it turned out that every dish we ordered was a hit and the server was very accomodating and helpful throughout the evening! The Chermoula Grilled Tofu, finely slathered with eggplant, was firm and slightly crispy, and the rich Stuffed Avocado with tangy romesco sauce was outstanding with so many complementary flavors. The vegan Rutabaga Fondue, served with fresh, warm pretzel bread and pickles for dipping, was a winner in the Comfort Food category! At our server's recommendation, we saved room for dessert with the Sumac Sour Cherries, warm donut holes in a cherry sauce, and the tiramasu-like Atlantic Beach Cup, layers of lemon custard, cream and raspberries with a crunchy bottom. Accompanied with extraordinary cocktails throughout the meal, including the whisky-based Woodmaze served in a tea cup, Fancy Radish is a home run definitely worth repeating!

These maybe the longest review I have written, but keep reading and you will see why. My wife and I went to Fancy Radish to celebrate or anniversary. When we arrived me and a different lady was the only ones in the place. Seeing that they had just open when we walked in but the quickly change. I booked reservations online and I HIGHLY suggest you do as well. I also informed the restaurant that it was our anniversary (this matters later). The table I wanted to sit at was being used for a photo shoot for the Washington Post. So we waited as other guest was seated. But the wait was my own doing and I didn't really mind. Just sat and watch the photographer do her job. Once she was done with it table a manager came to let us know he was ready for us. He showed us to our table and this is where the magic began 😁. My wife and I have been looking at the articles that have be posted by a few magazine so we kinda of knew what we wanted. The first two item we order was Stuffed Avocado and Peruvian Potatoes along with two drinks (Monsoon Bloom and Viper In The Rosemarie). Of course our drinks arrived first and the was complete opposites. Monsoon Bloom was made with two of my wife favorite items Kombucha and St. Germain. This drink also had sake in it and was severed in a wine flute, it was nice, smooth, and very pleasing. For the Viper in the Rose Garden it was just that. Served in a old fashion glass with an extra large cube of ice, that had two rose on top of it. The drink had Gin, Agua de Jamaica, Campari, and Chinato. If you not a drinker this is not the drink for you. It is very strong but good. Now for the first food items. The first two items that arrived was the Stuffed Avocado and Fancy Radish. Take note that I never order the Fancy Radish. I made the food runner aware of that, and joked that once it hit the table it is mine. She politely laugh and took the plate away. Good thing to because little did I know that that would have put us or at least me over the top. As I really don’t like radishes 😂. Stuffed Avocado came with romesco, pickled cauliflower, “Fried rice”, black salt. What arrived was not what I aspected but I am very very please at the way it tasted, But avocado dishes really can not do any wrong in my eye. Peruvian Potatoes was served with a ji amarillo, cilantro, dried olive, and peanuts. The sauce that came on these was life and the potatoes was cooked to perfection. I just wish the seasons was spread out a little better. But will order again. Next we order Rutabaga Fondue. I am a little new to the plant-based life-style. One of the things I was having an hard time with giving up cheeses, more so melted cheese. One of the best ways to get on my side is to give me melted cheese and bread. This dish it that on the nose. This dish is served with “today’s bread”, which was a pretzel roll today, and "yesterday’s pickle”, which was cauliflowers, cucumbers, and radishes. Never have I thought of putting cheese on pickled items. Yet there I was and loving it. When we was done with this a Fancy Snack of German Potato Salad brought to the table for the inconvenience of having a wrong place brought to our table. Hands down the best German Potato Salad I have ever had. Also I do not like German Potato Salad, but I always try it anyway because of my love for potatoes. Guess what else I really don’t care for mushrooms. Which was on top. But this time I have very glad I did. Because the salad was good and the mushrooms taste like bacon (Know this from my pre-plant-base days). In the waiting time of getting our main meal I order another drink for us. I order the Bora Bora Banter, I was suggested this by the server because I told her I like sweet drinks. This drink arrived in a pineapple shaped glass and included rum, yuzu, coconut, pineapple, and panda. One sip from the wife and I we both agreed it was to sweet. The servered happily took it and brought out another drink. The next drink she suggest was a Woodmaze. The server said it was smooth and taste like tea. This time the manger that sat us earlier brought out my drink. Which was server in a tea cup on a saucer. I am stealing this idea. Bring an alcohol drink that taste like tea is so genius. To me anyway. The drink include bourbon, manzanilla, pu-erh, and dandelion. Best “tea” I ever had hands down 😝. For the main dish we ordered Spicy Dan Dan Noodles (this was the main thing that my wife wanted) and Wood Roasted Carrot. Spicy Dan Dan Noodles comes with Sichuan pepper, five spice mushrooms, and zucchini. Look what should up again, them mushrooms. Not as good as the ones in the Potato Salad but did have me eating them 😆. But pasta dishes will always rank high with me, ALWAYS. The Wood Roasted Carrot was one of the many stars that was doing a photoshoot along with some of the other items we tried like the Avocado dish. As I was talking to my neighbor at the table next to me about carrot hog dog, this comes out with some of the same flavors. The dish came with black lentils (another one of my favorites), chermoula, olives, and preserved lemon. Am going to say this again, another item that I don’t like is olives. I did not care one bit that it was in this dish. By this this time we are getting a little full. This is getting long so I will be quick with these but for dessert we order the Chocolate Bar and STP. They both was severed with a perfectly paired flavor of ice cream. The chocolate Bar tasted like a very high end fancy candy bar and the STP tasted like a high fancy bread pudding with a hint of toffee. After this we was served an Uber Bite, that was two small peanut butter flavored snack. In short GO TO THIS PLACE NOW. Save up $75 or so person, $100 if you really want to let your hair down, Get the first open reservation and don’t worry about the bill. Just enjoy your experience and company. It is worth it. But remember this is high end and it is in a different price range. I also would like to thank Fancy Radish for making my anniversary one of my best food experiences. I will be back on the next special occasion.

First let me say that I am not vegan . I often try vegan restaurants with my wife who is vegan. I am usually very critical but from the food to the service it was some of the best food I’ve eaten in DC. We’ll be back for sure.

I went to this place with really high expectations and was not disappointed. Every dish was fantastic- and we tried almost every one on the menu. Cocktails were amazing as well. This is a serious dining experience. We will definitely be back!

This place is phenomenal. While pricey and hard to get into, the food is really creative and well executed. Don't miss the rutabaga fondue, langos, and seared maitake!

We very much enjoyed my birthday dinner at this restaurant. I appreciate being able to dine in a classy restaurant as a vegan. Would definitely recommend the spicy Dan Dan noodles this were by far our favorite dish. We shared but definitely could have got one each. We also got the tofu (pictured) which was excellent and would highly recommend the fondu. Would not recommend the “fancy radishes” (pictured) they were just a bit underwhelming. You will need to call ahead for a reservation as they are closing in mid October and the place was packed.

WOW! Such a delicious meal. Very innovative and exciting menu and love that it’s entirely plant-based! The food itself is incredible - super fresh, good portions, just delicious. Very friendly wait staff, too. Highly recommend!

Found this gem in search of a good Vegan restaurant in the DMV area for my wife. I’m not a vegan, but the food here is amazing! It’s located on H Street in DC, so come early before your reservation to find good street parking. The restaurant itself is very clean and set up nicely. The staff is extremely polite, friendly, and knowledgeable about the dishes. We have been here twice in the last month and the food is consistently great. Ordered the Fancy Radishes as an app — smaller plate but they know how to turn radishes into a delicacy. Other dishes we had were the rutabaga fondue, Peruvian potatoes, and Dan Dan Noodles—all of which were incredible! For dessert, we had a chocolate bar with lavender ice cream. I was questionable at first about the paring but it was perfect. The lavender ice-cream was unique but super tasty. Vegan or not, I highly recommend coming here for dinner. Don’t forget you need a reservation—they go fast! You will not be disappointed in the food or service at all. Enjoy!

Absolutely one of my new favorite restaurants. Food was unreal and the presentation was impeccable. We got the fondue and it was better than real cheese fondue hands down. The pretzel thing that comes with the fondue is sooooo good, we ate it and ordered a second!! The potatoes dish we also got was so delectable !!! Great drink selection too. This place is a whole mood. Highly recommend and would love love to come back here.

My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. As someone who has never dined at a vegan restaurant before, I was pleasantly surprised by the vast array of options available. I particularly enjoyed the unique way in which they presented their menu options on paper. My top recommendations would be the SPICY DAN DAN NOODLES and BRAISED PURPLE CABBAGE dishes. However, I was not entirely impressed with the FANCY RADISHES, PERUVIAN POTATOES, CHIOGGIA BEET TOAST, and ORANGE YOU GLAD (Cocktail) as they all had a similar sauce that overpowered the taste. On the other hand, the STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING was the highlight of my meal and the best dessert I have ever had.

Everything is plant based! Most flavors are rich and creative but some are boring due to their simplicity. I love that their menu is small, it allows one to try most of the menu. The vibe of the place is excellent. Best to worst -potato ( amazing flavors of sweet and spicy) -Fondue ( rich creaminess and the bread was fantastic) -Radish ( excellent texture the only thing I didn’t like was the avocado base) -Broccoli ( the beans that the broccoli sit on are amazing) -eggplant ( the charred flavor was unique ) The following dishes I do not recommend although they are the biggest dishes on the menu: Both noodles Tofu ( it is nothing special and lacks flavor)

I really didn’t think I would give this place 5 stars…..but I had to. Read below; The staff- awesome, quick, knowledgeable, and very respectful. The atmosphere- upscale fare with vibrant tunes and dimmed lighting. Perfect for a birthday, celebration, or just date night. The bar was also beautiful and would be really fun to sit at all night. The food- let me start by saying I have high cholesterol because I eat so much meat. You must try as many dishes as possible (this usually isn’t a problem, because as you guessed- you don’t get full easily). Peruvian Potatoes were delicious and so were the Dan Dan noodles. Everything else was really good but those stood out the most.

Both the food and service were great. I didn't need to ask for more water like I usually have to. I kept getting refills. The Tofu dish could have had more food in my opinion.

We had an amazing dinner and went into it very skeptical about how good a vegan meal could really be. Our friend recommended it and said it was one of the most amazing meals he's had and he wasn't wrong. We started with the pretzel fondue which melted in our mouths. We got the spicy dan dan noodles and tofu with lentils for the meal. The spice level was perfect on the noodles and the flavor was out of this world. Similar feelings about the tofu dish as well. For dessert we tried the strawberry shortcake and the chocolate bar. The chocolate bar was good but very very rich so we ended up liking the lightness of the basil ice cream on top of the strawberry shortcake better but if you're one for a rich dessert then definitely go for the chocolate bar. Would 100% recommend trying out Fancy Radish even if you're not vegan!

I really enjoyed the lemonade. It is freshly squeezed and not overly sweet. I was a BIG FAN of the lemonade. My most FAVORITE dish were the potatoes. They had a nice kick, but it felt like the perfect potato. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. What more can you ask for?! The sauce is comes on was a little spicy for me so i just ate mine with a little less. The fondue is the most popular dish on the menu from the waiter said, and was the one thing our waiter really recommended. I definitely see why! (Not captured in a picture bc I was too excited to eat it) The pretzel itself was my favorite part. The texture and moisture was amazing. PRO TIP: Order an extra pretzel when you get this (you’ll need it!) and it’s only 3 more dollars and the one it comes with is too small The beet toast was also amazing. Very refreshing with a smooth texture and smoky flavor. I loved this dish. My boyfriend really enjoyed the Spicy Dan Dan noodles but I preferred the miso butter noodles instead. If you like spicy the Spicy Dan Dan noodles might be your perfect fit, but if not the miso butter noddles might be it instead. It was for me! For dessert, we were eyeing the chocolate bar and it was also what the waiter recommend so of course we got it. The chocolate bar itself was amazing, thick fudgy texture, almost brownie like. The blackberry jam was a nice touch. I wasn’t a big fan of lavender ice cream. But that’s more of a personal thing. I do like floral flavors but I’ve never really enjoyed it with lavender. My boyfriend loved the lavender ice cream. Just depends on your floral taste palette. I still really enjoyed the chocolate bar and blackberry jam.

A flavor bomb in every bite! Creative, beautiful and delicious plant based dishes served as small plates so you can sample several dishes. There is not one that I have tried that I would not order again. And the drinks menu is as creative and delicious as the food! And service is friendly and fast, but not rushed. By far my favorite vegan restaurant!

One of the best vegetarian cuisines I ever had. I love the creativity and presentation of the food. Servers and staff were friendly and super accommodating. I order the spicy dan dan noodles, chioggia beet toast, and rutabaga fondue for dinner. For the dessert I got the sticky toffee pudding. The meals are set up that the dishes are shareable and it's recommended that you get multiple dishes. The chioggia beet toast was the tastiest. The rutabaga fondue was also delicious. I do think the spicy dan dan noodles didn't taste like authentic chinese food and was too spicy and salty. Overall, my experience at this restaurant was wonderful.

We really enjoyed having a small meal at this place. I’m always excited to try something vegan, and we were able to snatch an open table for two around 8 pm on Saturday. My favorite was definitely the rutabaga fondue - it had a cultured, wine-like taste to it and was just rich enough and perfectly smooth. The pretzel bread was soft and crispy on the outside with nice pieces of salt, and the pickled veggies each had their own flavor - turmeric for the cauliflower. My boyfriends fav was definitely the Peruvian potatoes- they were nice flat slabs with a creamy yellow sauce and had some crunchy peanuts on top. He was really impressed! With just these two small dishes we were satisfied enough when paired with a dessert later. I don’t think we could afford to eat here if we were really hungry haha!

Fantastic eats for vegetarians/vegans. The format is shareable plates. Order everything up front and they will slowly bring you items as they see fit. Everything from the cocktails, to the delicious sticky toffee pudding was delicious.

OMG the people who work here are amazing. The food is just the same. I made an amazing new friend here tonight and would be happy to come back when I visit DC again. I was pleasantly surprised that you g lady at the bar had only just started, she is a natural for this spot. I tried the Fancy Radish, shared the , Rutabga Fondue, dam dam noodles, and lavender ice cream with chocolate. OMG what a night. Fancy Radish is classy, swank, on fleek - all that, well lit, clean, and unceremoniously welcoming - even when seating at the bar! Truly my hats off to the chefs and staff. DC you continue to impress this traveling New Yorker! 😤

Fancy radish is a wonderful and interesting food experience created by Chef Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby. All the dishes are delicately assembled. They look beautiful and taste even better. I love food that is different and adventurous. Fancy radish distinguishes itself with its beautifully presented and delicious food. The cocktails are amazing. The portions are small. I would advise ordering two per person and sharing them. The deserts are incredible. It is a vegan restaurant but I don’t think that you miss any flavors because the food is just so awesome. It’s fusion cuisine featuring dishes like Peruvian potatoes and Dan Dan noodles. There is a parking garage just opposite. The restaurant itself is fairly small. The staff are charming. I would not hesitate to visit again but it is expensive so it would need to be a special occasion.

Excellent seasonal vegan menu. Highly recommend the chocolate bar desert, all the entrees - especially noodles & potatoes, we’re rich and well made.
