Went here for my birthday, on the weekend. Lucked out that it wasn’t too busy. But had the chicken wings, moist brisket, beef short rib, chicken, sausage and pork ribs! The dry rub seasoning for the bark of the moist beef brisket was impeccable as well as perfectly balanced. Also, the moist brisket was cooked exceptionally well with the exact amount of fat and meat. The beef short rib was also nice and juicy, a little bit drier than the moist brisket. The mac n cheese was solid as was the baked beans with brunt ends mixed in. Cornbread was decent. The must try dessert, is hands down the banana pudding, not too sweet or overwhelming! Overall great experience. The manager, Daniel, provided outstanding customer service as well!

Visited back in July and had a very filling lunch. The portion of the sandwich was so much, you could’ve honestly made 2 sandwiches out of it. It was a little confusing for my first time. I sat at the bar and didn’t know I had to go further into the restaurant to order my food. However, everything was really good! Authentic bbq for sure. Music wasn’t too loud and everyone had plenty of space to have a great time.

Such good bbq in DC! I’ve been here twice, and both times were amazing. I love their pulled pork and Mac and cheese. And their wings are amazing with such a nice smoky flavor. Everything I’ve gotten here has been great, and it’s definitely somewhere I’d come back many times

Looking for Texas BBQ in Washington DC? Then walk, no run, to Hill Country! Was at Capitol One Arena and found this place nearby. I arrived just as they opened for lunch so it wasn't busy. However, It didn't take long to see this is a popular place. I had the chopped brisket sandwich and jalapeno cheddar sausage link. Both were fantastic, as were the mac 'n cheese & cucumber salad. Service was top notch and staff were friendly. I've been to many BBQ restaurants and this one easily ranks in my top 5.

Took a recommendation from family to stop in, as "I wouldn't regret it!" I'm sure glad I did! I had the Brisket (lean) and pulled pork. That pulled pork is in the top three of the best pulled pork I've ever eaten. So juicy, tender and full of flavor. The overall atmosphere is that of an actual smokehouse and really sets you up for the great food you're about to embark upon. If you're into authentic pit BBQ and in the area, you will not be disappointed.

Stop in for some great barbecue. The prices aren't bad and the servings were large! The brisket sandwich was massive and delicious. The potato salad is definitely a good choice. The burnt end baked beans were decent as well. Its pretty good sized if you have a large group and you just walk up and get your food so there is no waiting! If you're close by, give it a try!

A culinary adventure awaits in Washington, D.C., where the spirit of Texas BBQ comes alive! My co-worker, a Texan native, introduced me to this smoky paradise, and boy, it didn't disappoint! Step inside and you're instantly enveloped by the intoxicating aroma of authentic BBQ, a testament to a grill tended since dawn by a tireless pitmaster. We savored monumental sandwiches loaded with tender pulled pork and flavor-infused brisket, every bite a mouthwatering tribute to BBQ artistry. The sides, especially the creamy, penne-based mac and cheese, were spectacular supporting acts. The coleslaw was a nod to tradition, a cool, crunchy accompaniment to the meaty marvels. To end on a high, we dared the cowboy brownie, an indulgent collision of chocolate, butterscotch, and a sugar kick that'll knock your socks off! The welcoming staff and spotless setting were the cherries on top of this foodie find. Easily the best BBQ haven I've discovered in the DMV area, this gem is just waiting to be the talk of the town! So, BBQ lovers, stop scrolling, dash to this joint, and get ready for a Texas-sized feast in the heart of D.C.! Your taste buds are in for a treat!

That moist and juicy brisket; mmmmh-mmh! It’s nice having an institution like this so close to the National Mall to enjoy a delicious Texas barbecue or “BBQ.” I had the sliced brisket, and pulled pork, and not sausage, which was perfectly smoked in time for my afternoon visit. I also had side orders of cucumber salad, cole slaw, and mac and cheese, along with pickled onion and sliced pickles. The shiner on tap hit the spot on a hot day. The seating in the bar area was plentiful at lunch time. I like the service model here; you go to the back to order and pick up your food, and carry it back to you table on a tray. They bring you your drink order to your table if you want. I ordered my beer and water directly from the bartender and tipped him out for that when I paid my check. The place had decent wheelchair accessibility with a ramp with a gentle rise into the seating area, and an elevator to go downstairs to the concert area and restrooms. They don’t accept any cash, which is a reversible misfortune, because the cash money in this county is supposed to be legal tender for ALL debts, both public AND private.

If you're in downtown Washington DC and craving some authentic Texas BBQ, then the cafeteria-style approach to ordering your meats and sides at this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant feels like tables set in an old barn, giving it a downhome feel, and the staff serving food are friendly and efficient, making the overall experience a pleasant one. While the table service can be a bit slow at times, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. The pulled pork was well smoked, and the brisket was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. You could tell that the meats were cooked to perfection and with great care. However, the same can not be said for the sides. The cornbread was not a standout, and the coleslaw and beans were decent at best. Overall, if you're looking for a satisfying and hearty BBQ meal, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The cafeteria-style approach to ordering your meats and sides gives you the opportunity to pick and choose exactly what you want, and the staff serving food are friendly and efficient. While the table service could be improved, the quality of the meats is exceptional and definitely worth trying. The ambiance of the restaurant is rustic and homey, adding to the overall experience. So, grab a friend or two and head on over for a delicious Texas BBQ meal that will leave you satisfied and full.

UPDATE: I went back today. AMAZING, thank you. I missed it on my first visit where on the menu board it has the two options for brisket, moist and lean. If I had paid closer attention, I would have seen that. Thanks to the manager for reaching out to me after my first review. On this visit I had the moist brisket and turkey, collard greens and cole slaw. Everything was absolutely perfect. I have also made it a 5 star review versus my original 4 stars. I will definitely be a regular visitor. I had the Pitmaster it pretty good. The meat was a little dry but tasty. The collard greens were some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely make another visit to see if it was a one-time thing with the dry meat.
