Love the food! Udon shrimp noodle.soup, cilantro eggs, tea cookies, and tea are all excellent. Food tasty and good for you. Try the tea shop next door if you're a tea-lover!!
Love, Love, Love Teaism. Whenever I come to DC for work or play I make it a point to visit. Great tea, great food, fun atmosphere. Don't skip the ginger scones!
This place was spot on!! Had the Korean brisket, which came on a yummy bun with carmelized onions and slaw, with a side of baby cuke kimchee. It was so yummy!!! Also got the iced chai, which was perfect, not too sweet, just delicious.
The food here - everything I've had at least, and I've had a nice variety: 100%. They also have a nice chocolate stout in bottle. This place is busy and can certainly be crowded with tourists given its location. Don't forget about the abundance of seating on the lower level.
An almost hidden gem on 8th I spotted one evening on my way back to my hotel ... returned another evening with a friend and was delighted with the quality of food at exceptional value! Veg curry and 3 beets appetiser were delightful! If I'm ever back in DC I'll be back :)
My boyfriend and I highly enjoyed what we got for lunch. I had the fried chicken bento box and a ginger limeade and he got the curry dish with Jasmine tea. We enjoyed it so much, we hope to visit Washington DC just to have another meal here.
Great menu. Food was fresh and tasty. Great low key spot for kids too. Loved the coy pond inside. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Especially your Spanish speaking staff.
The best! We need one or 2 in Philly! Everything a fast casual restaurant should be!
Das Essen war wirklich sehr köstlich, ich kann nur die Pento Boxen empfehlen. Essen und trinken sehr lecker und die Restauration lädt zum kurzen verweilen ein, bevor es mit der Erkundung der Stadt weiter gehen kann.
This is my favorite lunch spot in DC. I stop in every time I'm in town and I always bring my friends here when they are in town. Highly recommend!!
Wow, this is great! I got my food on a timely manner and it was great. It's a little pricey but not for DC. One can argue that this place is worth the price.
I have been eating here for years. Not once have I ever been disappointed with the food or service.
I found a new love in my life that made my taste buds very happy. I would highly recommend a visit. A place that is different, daring, and delivers the goods!
Very lovely place for tea, coffee or wine. Good food as well.
Teaism is delicious and healthy. So great to have it in Penn Quarter.
Excellent place! So glad I decided to stop by here before the movies. A nice spot to grab some authentic flavored Japanese food made by the divine team. I’m so glad this place has weathered the many storms in recent years. Lots of locals come here specifically for the many delicacies. I thoroughly enjoyed the okinomiyaki. It even came w the katsuobushi that freaks out many Americans because the heat from the food make the flakes move, seemingly alive, lol! It’s taste rivaled that of what I had in Japan most recently. The restaurant has an easy casual vibe, that can be enjoyed alone or w a group. The staff are friendly and helpful. Im going to make this a staple for every time I go to the movies!
I recently discovered an amazing restaurant that had something for everyone. The menu had a great selection, with a healthy touch that made it perfect for vegans and meat lovers alike. One of the things that stood out to me was how fast the service was. The cash for ordering was amazingly efficient, but what really impressed me was how quickly they prepared my order. It was almost as if they had it ready before I even finished paying! Fast food restaurants have nothing on this place for speed!
I decided to try the bento box salmon, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The dish was very well displayed and tasted amazing. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and it came with a great assortment of sides that complemented the dish perfectly. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food.
The restaurant was also incredibly clean and well maintained. The staff clearly took pride in their work, and it showed in every aspect of the dining experience. The restaurant was also great for both young and old, with plenty of healthy choices for families.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. Whether you're a vegan or a meat lover, there is something for everyone on the menu. The fast service and amazing food make it a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a great dining experience. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes on the menu!
Mainly a restaurant whose specialty is tea but the food is amazing. A large selection of teas to choose from. The broccoli bits was so good.
One of my favorite places :) I’ve been here many times!
I personally love tea and they have many varieties to choose from. Atmosphere is nice, quick food preparation (you order at a counter and pick it up there too so no traditional waiter service). Downstairs area is huge! It has an adjacent.
I love the chicken curry, the vegetable kebab is nice and smoky/charred. Fairly priced. The pancake is delicious too!
I had the Korean brisket sandwich and it was extremely good. The boba was in a normal cup but I have no issue with that it's realy good but my only issue with that part is that they have paper boba straws so I would suggest you bring your own straw. The person we ordered food from was nice. When we went to pick the food up the servers were a bit grumpy. I'm not going to complain about that too much because I can't image being in a hot area for ages with constant smells and rude pepole.
Five stars. Great food plenty of options. My friend was with me, a Teaism fan for many years and she noticed a few things missing from the menu recently. The French toast is awesome, just awesome. Tea selection is obviously great. Outdoor seating is limited, but inside there are two levels of seating. Vegetable kabobs are good. Food is prepared quickly so don't be afraid to wait in line to order. Great vegetarian options. Enjoy
There was a lot of sitting - the place has two floors. Their menu is kind of fun - an Asian fusion. The taste was just ok though. Not bad, but not smth to come back for. We had noodles with veggies and chicken okonomiyaki. Chocolate salted oatmeal cookie for dessert - that one was good. The place has a great selection of tees. A bit on a dirtier side when it gets busy. You order upstairs and have to wait for them to call your order.
A great spot for a quick bite to eat or for settling down to study / work / chat with a nice pot of tea! Sandwiched between a row of the Smithsonians and Ford's Theatre, Teaism is a breath of calm, fresh air in the hustle and bustle of downtown D.C.'s tourist attractions. It's a wonderful, quiet spot to study or have a long chat with someone without being interrupted or feeling rushed by a constant stream of people. The few seats upstairs tend to be a bit busier with guests coming in and out, ordering at the counter, or picking up food / dropping off dishes; however, they have a huge downstairs section with a bunch of seating where you'll be completely undisturbed.
I love how expansive their tea menu is, and the staff is super patient and friendly; they're happy to help you decide which of their many hot / iced teas to go for (as well as list out a number of back-up options for your next visit)! The hot tea comes in a small teapot, and you can enjoy 5-6 cups. If you're in the mood for food, Teaism also has a number of affordable and tasty dishes, including their bento boxes. I'm a huge fan of their Grilled Salmon Bento, which centers on a perfectly grilled fillet of salmon, which pairs delightfully with their citrusy yuzu dipping sauce. It comes with their classic bento sides -- broccoli with another citrusy sauce, miso sweet potatoes, and a hearty scoop of brown rice. The sides rotate every now and then based on the season, but every single one is incredible. To round out the meal, their Hempheart Cookie, despite sounding terrifying, is not only gluten-free, but also delicious -- it's not overly sweet (and has absolutely no hemp flavor), and I love the dried cherries.
All in all, Teaism is a great spot if you just need a quiet place to decompress from all the tourism, chat with a friend, or work / study. They have a fantastic selection of tea, as well as a tasty and relatively cheap selection of food items. Teaism has definitely made it onto my usual rotation of quick lunch spots / weekend stops, and I can't wait to come back and try out more of their wonderful teas!
The iced matcha is good, but too sweet and there’s no option to make it less sweet. Bumping it up one star because of the price. $4.40 for an iced matcha in the city is a steal.
I love coming to teaism. It is close to the national mall and their bubble tea is better than anything you can get from a food truck. My dinner bento box was less than the small gyro that we had for lunch from a food truck.
I enjoyed grabbing brunch at Teaism. I split okonomiyaki with vegetables and the French toast. Both were nice. I also drank a chai, which was well-spiced. Highly recommend.
Love teaism! Always quick service and plenty of seating, especially if you go down to the lower level.
Highly recommend stopping by the teaism shop after you finish eating to either buy tea or some nice tea-related gifts.
The food is so delicious! Their chicken bento box is a must have, it comes with cold sweet potatoes and cold broccoli!. The onion sauce is dynamite! Their Korean brisket sandwich is really good. The sweet Japanese green tea (matcha) is refreshing. The teas are really good as well. 2 doors down they have a tea shop.
UPDATE as of 5/18/22
They have brought back the panko fried chicken! I was told the menu will be changing soon.
Vegan ginger scones, beet burger, salmon binto box, and berry tea....drooling. This is a wonderful place to eat, relax, and get out of the cold- right by the Archives metro stop. The lady that works the cash register knows the menu inside and out. She's worked there for years and is super kind.
The first floor is wheel chair accessible, including the bathroom. The basement is not.
Stopped in for a quick snack after visiting the National Gallery of Art. Ordered a traditional bubble tea and a Salty Oat cookie (like an oatmeal raisin). Both were excellent. The rest of the menu looked fun. There are some sandwiches and bento boxes. Want to come back!
I came here today and I fear I’ve made a bad impression for the staff so I decided to at least do a review to boost their business as an apology. This was the first place I’ve ever eaten at first time I traveled to DC. It has a lot of sentimental values, and I love love love love love their salmon bento. Delicious. I stop by every time I’m in town so I can be reminded of their salmon bento.
A good variety of items and a very kind team of staff. Please do check it out.
My friend got a Korean brisket sandwich and it was one of the best bread we’ve had here.
Everyone I've brought to Teaism has adored it (13+ folks)! Their vast array of teas is wonderful. Try the broccoli tots, they're addicting. Their Korean brisket sandwich is great as well. Whenever a friend asks for a DC restaurant recommendation, Teaism is at the top of my list.
The best place to get tea around the city. The food is really good
