If you are aching to travel back in time to 1992 this is the place for you. Old school fine dining at it's best. From the ultra dim lighting to the old carpets to the dated motel style curtains and soft elevator music, you will have the ultimate 90's meal experience. That being said, almost every course was delicious. At Marcel's, you will find a collection of semi refined comfort foods that are masterfully prepared. The flavors were bold and every dish was a delight. The evening was made particularly charming by our delightful server who kept us laughing from start to finish. The only bad dish was the Wagyu beef which was tough and tasted mainly of salt and extra salt. The house made bread, however was some of the best i have tasted in my life! If you are looking for something different for your next outing, you won't be disappointed by the bold, if not familiar flavors and the absolutely silly atmosphere.
Had an amazing experience with an Italian themed dinner using French grapes grown in Italy - very cool fusion! The service was incredible, the food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time!
Very fun experience. A bit formal atmosphere, expensive, and quiet. Servers made it enjoyable and casual feeling despite the setting. Food of course was exquisite and presentation among the best in DC.
It is a solid place with great food. Very refreshing experience. First Michelin with tasting menu where I actually did not leave the place starving. The food was absolutely amazing. Me and my girlfriend loved it absolutely. Alcohol was fantabulous, water was superb, desserts and proteins were great. The only thing that was off was constant reminders to us about how Marcel is a very “cool place” and “unlike any other places” by the service people. Like, come on, I know that if I am coming to a place where they serve black caviar 30 grams that averages 60$ on the market for 220. I do not need constant reminders of how awesome I am for choosing this specific place because it makes me realize how trapped I am in commodity fetishism and leaves a permanent mark on me. What if Chick Fila was a better choice? The waiter was a funny italian guy though.
A true fine dining experience. Our main waiter Johnathan was amazing in explaining the menu. We decided to go with a 5 and 6 course experience. All portions are 5 to 6oz big but with 5 courses it was plenty to include a dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked with amazing flavors. They even made it very special for our Anniversary. We tried everything on that menu and every item was delicious. We will definitely be back.
We had a great evening dining at Marcel’s. They do a great job setting up the atmosphere there to enjoy dinner and your company. Food was delicious and the service was prompt and very attentive. Highly recommended to make a reservation and visit.
My sis and I had a great experience. We purchased the 4 course meal. They made you feel like you're important and explained everything that you're about to eat. The most flavorful dish was the soft crab. Wine was okay. I would definitely go back.
We celebrated my birthday at Marcel’s. From the moment we entered the restaurant we felt very special. Isabel and Veni were amazing. They were both fantastic. The food was fabulous. The atmosphere reminded us of Europe. Upscale and professional but at the sometime very fun. Thank you all for creating such a wonderful memory for us.
This place was really good. They were award with a Michelin star in 2018. However, among the list of Michelin star awarded restuarants, this is more on the traditional style. The crowd is older, the silverware is conservative and the servers too. All make, suited. We had a great experience worth Beny, an Hungarian with sense of humor. The bar and the bathroom are beautiful. The place is close to the Ritz Carlton.

I don't like steak because its always rubbery.... However, I ordered the fillet mignon and it was INCREDIBLY AWESOME!!! It was well done but I enjoyed it so so so much! Great ambiance and great service.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. Food was amazing as always, and this time I had the foie gras which is an absolute must. Special thanks to Jonathan, the Captain, with his vibrant character, and Moez who made the night so memorable!
MAGNIFICENT
Marcel’s is a classic DC dining establishment that epitomizes the pinnacle of elegance and service. I love the restaurant has a JACKETS REQUIRED requirement for guests; a rare and welcome change to the flip flops and shorts found in other establishments. Staff was amazingly courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient, ensuring our service was excellent. We savored the three course fixed price menu offerings. Each dish was perfectly prepared, elegantly plated, and served at a relaxed pace. We will be back when we need our fix of elegant dining!!
My boyfriend and I went here recently to celebrate my birthday. To say they exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. Amazing food and amazing wine. Thank you.
Enjoyed a lovely, impromptu dinner at the bar. The service was as high quality and attentive as if we were seated in the main dining area. Needless to say, the food and wine matched the service.
I came with a group of 8 and the food was superb, only to be outdone by the service. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, funny, gave great suggestions. It was an incredible evening and I would 100% come back. Everything was meticulously prepared and delicious. My favorite dish was the mussels.
6 course chef tasting menu, with chef's wine pairing. Exceptional meal, flavor profiles so clean and delicious. Starting with the mushroom cigar, lobster bisque, foi gras terrine, venison and raspberry salted caramel dessert and the chocolate dessert. Portion sizes were perfect, serving temperature for wines superb. Milos, thank you so much for a memorable evening.
This was likely the best meal I've ever had.
Took my partner here for her birthday and it was even more special than I had hoped. The next time we can afford to do so we'll be back.
Everyone from the wait staff to the kitchen staff were friendly, welcoming, and personable, and the food was transcendent
Went for a friends birthday dinner and got the 4 (or 5, can’t remember) courses. Intriguing plating, and great flavors. The foi gras was my favorite. The servers were friendly and charming, but kind of blew me off when I asked about ingredients… the server let me know it was worth it to get the dessert since the price wasn’t much more for the additional course. I really didn’t want dessert because I don’t eat dairy sugar, but he insisted. I tried to get a better understanding of ingredients but just gave in and got the dessert.
Table of 4 at 7:30 on the 23rd of December. It was not packed when we got there, but later in the meal we were told that tomorrow, Christmas Eve would be terrible and we were thanked for eating now rather than tomorrow.
Food was spectacular, in particar the Venison Chop with Huckleberry sauce. Service was impeccable; water re-filled within 2 minutes, chitchat with the Sommelier and waitstaff was pleasant and they were even humming along to the festive music, a cute plus.
I wholeheartedly reccommend Marcel's to any who have a finer taste for food, as well as those who are curious as to what a step up in the culinary world entails, as every menu item was masterfully described to us when we had questions. (Valet parking is a huge plus in a busy city such as DC)
