Review Rose's Luxury - Washington DC

Preston Hall
Everything was great except… We came to dinner here for my wife’s birthday, and it was an amazing experience. The service was truly top tier. Not only our main waiter but all of the 4/5 people who served us during our dinner were exceptional. In addition the timing of the many dishes which we were served was a perfect succession of flavor and precision. The food was phenomenal! That’s all I have to say. There was nothing we didn’t like. The only downside… We were seated in the front area and the bench and chair we sat on were truly uncomfortable. Not a major problem, but for a long meal it was less than ideal. If you read this you may consider asking to be seated upstairs or in the rear. Not 100% sure that would be perfect, but it may help. The food was amazing, and the service was outstanding!

When I first moved to DC, Rose’s Luxury was recommended to me by seemingly everyone and their mothers. And it lived up to the hype. I really don’t know how, but they manage to be upscale yet laid back; super attentive but never annoying; fun and energetic yet professional; delicious and inventive yet somehow familiar and not trying too hard. Super comfy space and warm/inviting vibe. Excellent place for any occasion but especially for bday celebrations. Definitely go here!

The food was incredible! The atmosphere and seating was comfortable. But my favorite part was the service. Every person who came to our table to drop off food was so enthusiastic and proud of their food. They seemed genuinely happy to be doing what they were doing. Their energy was contagious. We will definitely be back when in DC again!

We hadn't been to Roses for several years and certainly first time post-pandemic. The restaurant was busy but not packed on a Friday evening and we didn't have reservations. Since our prior visits, the style has changed to a choose your own adventure, though you can choose entirely on your own or shared with the table. $105 pre fixe Javier took care of us at the bar and was absolutely amazing from start to finish ensuring the birthday person felt celebrated/recognized. He was also very attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations on vino. Almost everything was good, with the exception of the short rib. We were very excited for this dish and even ordered a double quantity! However the dish was underwhelming - very little taste in the sauce and meat was dry. The slicing was also strange..... Again, javier made the meal memorable - we will definitely remember her!

Didn’t know we went to a Michelin stared restaurant until we found out later on the website. There are things I don’t like, and other things I like about this place. Caviar and coconut ice cream? I mean it tastes good don’t get me wrong but I feel like they can make an effort into making the dish. I appreciate the simplicity, but I just feel like there should be more into it. Seem like I have the same experience with other customers with the “cauliflower”. I went to many restaurants that cook foods passionately and the money come after. Foods can be subjective of how good they are. But if many people like the those foods, it’s universal.

This was the best restaurant experience I've ever had to date. They didn't miss once and the service went completely above and beyond. We sat in front of the kitchen and was like watching the food network the entire time. Highly recommend!

Dining at Rose’s was a spiritual experience. That meal brought tears to my eyes and was, hands down, the best meal I have ever had. I was a bit on the fence about the ordering style, as I wasn’t too keen to have to split four dishes with my partner rather than get four individual dishes for each of us, but everything was so incredible and substantial that we both left fully satisfied. The complexity of flavors in all of the dishes blew me away and each bite produced multiple flavors as you chewed. This was the first time I understood how to really savor each bite of a meal. The hospitality and service was exceptional and everyone that brought out our food seemed genuinely excited about what they were serving us. I loved the small little surprises that accompanied the meal and those extra touches really made the experience that much more memorable. This restaurant deserves their star and should be proud of dining experience they have achieved.

Do you consider yourself to be any level of “foodie”? Have you ever thought you might want to dabble in the foodie world? Do you not subscribe to labels and you just have tastebuds and you like to make them happy? Whichever it is, you must eat at Rose’s Luxury. Easily one of my favorite dining experiences to date. Everything that happened from the time we walked into and sat in the quaint, fun, energetic space was wonderful. The “Choose Your Own Adventure” menu was full of unique and interesting dishes. It isn’t easy to choose, so go with someone who can order other things…it’s a perfect sharing menu. I won’t review course by course, but I will say that if you do nothing else (and you eat meat) order the pork and lychee salad. Seriously. It was one of the most amazing dishes I’ve ever tasted. It somehow hit all five tastes with a mix of power and subtlety that thrilled with every bite. My wife and I couldn’t stop looking at each other with bewilderment and excitement and saying things that were probably just satisfied noises more than words. The service from the staff of friendly, beautiful souls was impeccable and exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this quality. While the vibe is energetic but chill and not at all stuffy, the service was absolutely fine dining quality. If you can score seats at the chef’s counter, do it. It’s a great show to watch and the interaction with the staff is fun. I could rave on and on, but I won’t. Rose’s Luxury is a must if you love food. They deserve every accolade they receive.

Great food and amazing service. Pictured is the rooftop garden area, the legendary lychee salad, grilled cucumber salad and caramelized cauliflower, tres leches cake, and of course one of their cocktails. I couldn’t get a photo of every course, but there was plenty of amazing dishes.

Really enjoyed this spot for the tasting menu. Service was super accommodating and they have blankets for people who get cold easily!! The menu changes every so often but there’s one item that has stayed since opening which is the lychee salad. Food was super yummy and the staff gives good recommendations. I personally wasn’t a big fan of the cocktails due to the amount of sugar but they did taste good.

Lovely restaurant. We had a special occasion that I didn't really expect them to honor, but they did and did an amazing job with food and service. The menu is small and you get to pick 4 items per 2 people. It's perfect and really eases the decision making process. Everything we tried was great. And I never would have guessed that caviar could go with sorbet, but they paired perfectly. Our server, Bonnie was fantastic too. Thank you!

We went to celebrate the bday of my husband and everything was absolutely delicious. For 2 people you can chose 4 dishes. However, we also got 2 other sample dishes from the ones we didn't choose, so we tried 6 in total. From the savory dishes our favorites were: 1. Caramelized cauliflower, 2. Popcorn soup, 3. Pork and lychee salad . For dessert we ordered the baklava sundae, amazing!!!

We had an interesting dining experience here, with mixed results on the food, some mishaps, and an excellent server that acted as an anchor for a tumultuous evening. That said, we were incredibly impressed with how they responded afterwards to the challenges we experienced, earning them a net 4 stars. We were underwhelmed by the complimentary bread service, the biscuits were dry but the spread was fairly good. The much lauded pork and lychee salad was quite good, but perhaps a tad short of the hype. Still recommended you try. The caramelized cauliflower with yogurt, raisin, and breadcrumbs fell short; the cauliflower was overdone and dry, and insufficiently remedied by the accompaniments. The calamarata alla vodka (calamari shaped pasta in vodka sauce with squid & thai basil) was quite tasty, making a memorable impression. The colonne pompeii (columns of pompeii pasta w/hazelnut pesto) was beautifully presented but sadly a bit pedestrian in terms of flavor. The miso glazed short rib was also surprisingly dry (detect a theme here?), making it an anticlimactic end to the pre-postre courses. The desert course we had was fine but nothing to write home about either. Cocktails were very well made, I enjoyed the two I tried.

The first two food selections (popcorn lobster and pork lychee salad) were absolutely delicious. The spic margarita is tasty and adds balance to the meal. The rest of the dishes were good but slightly outshined by the first two. Service was very good and timely even on a busy Friday night. Highly recommended if you find yourself near the navy yard/capital hill area.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in DC and I’ve been to so many places. But the variety of their food, the depth of flavor here is just another level!! Love love this place!

We’re over from Ireland on holiday and I’d looked at restaurants all over DC. Rose’s Luxury stood out and the reviews were very good. Ate there last night and it did not disappoint. We had seats facing into the kitchen which meant we could see all of the action. Live culinary theatre! My wife and I were fascinated watching all of the action. The food is sublime. The service is prompt but not rushed. Can’t recommend enough.

Rose’s Luxury lives up to the hype and is incredibly deserving of its stellar reputation. For the price, it is one of the best values in dining experience and food quality in DC. We were so grateful to our waiter, Mark, for his infectious cheeriness and his knowledge of the chef’s techniques. The entire staff was welcoming and generous. Every dish had unique qualities that felt both adventurous and familiarly comforting. The standouts were the caramelized cauliflower, the pork lychee salad, and the coconut kiwi dessert. We will most certainly be back!
