Review Cafe On The Common - Waltham

Peter Cabral
Location is great, with access to the commuter rail, bus lines, and plenty of street parking. The shop is spacious, with high roofs, large couches, tables, and a variety of seats to do everything from sitting down and conversing to opening up a laptop and getting work done. I went with a preschooler, and there was plenty of couch space and wooden games to keep him occupied while I had my coffee. Even if the cafe were crowded, there’s always the common or the river walk right nearby. The dark roast I had was excellent. We got a pumpkin muffin and the vegan snickerdoodle cookie (?), both of which my family enjoyed. The staff was super friendly. I’d like to come back to sample the food and more of the coffee menu.

While I love this place dearly I have to say it doesn't really meet a high standard in my opinion. The staff is honestly one of the major draws for this place. They are always really kind and quick to get you what you want. The pastries are pretty good and the coffee is also ok, but it's sadly just that. The views from here are great though and the atmosphere is really nice. However some things seem to be in a bit of disrepair. The door was crack and the couches have many rips and tears. You can tell this place is well loved, but in my humble opinion it could use a little refresh. It's coziness and kind staff are great, but I'd like to see some things fixed with a focus on the best possible coffee. I love this place it wish it great success, but there is room for improvement.

Biscuits are tasty and coffee is amazing. Great place to chill by yourself or meet with friends. The staff is pretty cool. Just one suggestion: coffee experience would be even better with porcelain mugs instead of paper glasses in order to keep the taste of coffee.

I love this local coffee shop! They use locally roasted beans so their coffee is super fresh. They shots of espresso are rich. I always order an Aussie breve. It’s the best drink they have!

It's always so nice here, I come here before work and grab a bite to eat. I think they're hiring, too.

A nice coffee shop with great espresso and good bakery items. It has a warm atmosphere and easy place to do work, read, or meet up with a friend. Baristas are warm and welcoming.

Coffee drinks are pretty low quality. (As a former barista i know what i am talking about). Cappuccino and Latte have pretty bad burn taste. I tried today Chai Tea, and it was extremely watery, most likely because barista over-steamed it instead of Chai Tea , i got extremely how water with chai flavor. I think some of the staff needs to be trained a little bit more. Every single drink which i tried was made by same person. And i personally would avoid getting coffee, because 3/3 times i did not liked it. (Different drinks) Food is better. They have some good, sandwiches. And i am occasionally getting breakfast there. Location is super great.

Came in for cold brew coffee and pleasantly surprised they have oat milk. The cold brew coffee was delicious and I would recommend it. My wife has Chai latte which has great flavor. The staff didn’t seem warm and fuzzy but took their jobs very seriously. There are two sections to the cafe with plenty of seating with tables, leather couches and WiFi.

Best mocha latte I've ever had! Great service and the food was very flavorful, I can't wait to go back!

I'm a vegan, there was a piece of meat in my "vegan" chickpea wrap. Never going again!

Breakfast is perfect; lunch is even better. I don't drink coffee but everything else I've had has been delicious. I love the eclectic music selections, the meeting place atmosphere and above all the staff, a delightful cadre of unique and friendly individuals who will make your day.

Arrived here and looked up on the board to see "The Aussie"—one size $2.95 (2 shots espresso w/ 6oz steamed milk). As an Australian visitor to the US I ordered one and told the barista I'd be judging it. Happy to say that it was the best coffee I've had in the US so far!

I love to go here whenever I'm visiting my daughter at Brandeis. The coffee is fantastic and they have the best chocolate eclairs evah! they have plenty of seating, but it's still cozy. And it's a great mix of people. Young and old. Hipster and townie. Blue collar and professional.

Love the casual atmosphere here. Great Cold Brew! They use Dean's Beans Ring of Fire for cold Brew. The pastries and quiches are excellent.

Pretty much the only noteworthy european-american style Café in Waltham.

The sandwiches and wraps are good/overpriced, but the leaf and bean selection is quality and the vibe is nice.
The pasteries are not awesome, but not much local competition so...

Generally good music, free WiFi, plenty of seating.

Waste of Great Space. This enormous space could be so great. They could have cool events here and stuff. Instead they have crappy blueberry scones, more like crappy store bought muffins. My americano was more like rain water. My fiances coffee was super burnt. It's so random here: burritos, mango lassi, some vegan cupcakes, carrot cake, crappy scones, some sandwiches, and coffee drinks. What are they doing here? I guess at least you'll never have to wait for a table here.

There are Dunkin Donuts on every corner in the Metro West area, Boston, and the state of Massachusetts in general. I've had too many bad experiences to return for their coffee, except if I'm driving long-distance and it's the only place around (about once
