Wonderful country pub with atmosphere, very friendly staff and excellent food. We like walking and find this the perfect pub after a country walk. In fact they have a free leaflet of local walks which we used, so did a circular starting from the pub car park.

We come from France and were on vacation in a cottage a few meters away from the pub. Our car had broken down and we had nowhere else to go to eat so we're glad we found this pub.
The food was good, though a bit too pricey imo, but what we enjoyed the most was the warm welcome by the waiter. He was so friendly and nice, he clearly was the highlight of our unlucky and unpleasant holiday we just had. Everybody else in the county had been mean or unwelcoming to us, except for him. He spoke with us and seemed interested in us. Most importantly: he was smilling! He is the first english waiter/service person we saw smiling in the week. So, a huge thank you to you Sir for making us feel welcome and for making our last evening in the country, a success <3 keep being like you are, nice and fun and welcoming to strangers.

We stumbled upon this pub after searching for somewhere to eat near where we were staying. What a bit of luck.
Every course was excellent. The moules were the best I had eaten for years, large fat and perfectly cooked. The brown shrimps on a crumpet ( interesting) were also excellent and a generous portion. Mains were venison and pork belly both first class. Finally treacle tart, thick and lemony.
A good wine list with most by the glass or bottle, minimal surcharge on glass prices.
It's a long time since we had a meal where every dish was superb. Highly recommended.

Great food for 7 people
Booked based on recommendations by friends. We had 5 different main courses all of which were superb. Really well priced and served by cheerful staff.
When leaving spotted a rare wine to find in a restaurant namely a Slovenian Cabernet / Merlot so will be back soon to order a bottle :).

Lovely place to visit for a meal or a drink. Portion sizes are good and the roast was exquisite.
Parking can be a pain if it's busy but there's parking in the local village.
They were very welcoming to us and our little newborn girl.
Will come back if in the area.

Great rural English pub in a pretty village with lovely large garden, no noisy passing traffic either. Had a delicious Roast Chicken and the serving staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!

This is a very authentic country pub. We have been a few times and we always had a lovely time and a big part of this is thanks to the nice people that work there. You feel really welcome and of course the good food and great ales help a lot towards leaving really satisfied. Sunday roast is good, but we have even been welcomed to having drinks by a lovely warm log fire. These are people and a pub you want to return to.
