Some of the best food we have ever eaten at a Greek Cafe can be found at Xristos on LaSalle in Waco! We have eaten at Niko Nikos in Houston many times, plus Greek cafes all over Texas and the Mediterranean. The quality of the food at Xristos is superior! The well seasoned blend of fresh ingredients in each dish is remarkable. We ordered 7 different items-all were outstanding! We started with the delicious, well-balanced baba ghanoush (eggplant dip) served with lightly seasoned, sliced pita bread that had a perfect texture and thickness,; next was an original dish called Sophia that was 2 falafels covered with a creamy delicious tzatziki (so good we ordered extra), fresh parsley and tomatoes topped with feta cheese; next was the spanikopita-a light, flavorful phyllo dough filled with a tasty spinach mixture; then we had the traditional lamb and beef gyro-the standard item to taste at every Greek place. The meat was perfectly seasoned and prepared; the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) had just the right mixture of lemon, dill and rice and looked very nice. For dessert - he ordered feta fries that were very good with the feta melted on the fresh cooked potatoes, i enjoyed some rich, beautifully prepared baklava with a great blend of walnuts, spices, and sugar in buttery layers of phyllo dough. We enjoyed the Greek music playing softly in the background, adding to the overall meal experience. I think what makes this indoor cafe better than the others is you can taste the love put into every well-prepared dish.
We really enjoyed the food!!! Can’t wait to get back to Lake Jackson, TX. And try out our Xristo’s seasonings & grape leaves in our own kitchen!!
Enjoyed a ribeye gyro to celebrate National Gyro day today. It was DELICIOUS!! Pita bread was perfect - easy to bite through. The seasoning was just right. Also had the pita and hummus and yogurt cake (wonderful - topped with fresh berries and cream). Thought how they wrote on the bag was a nice touch.
Never had Greek before but this was great for this first timer. The atmosphere was spacious and cool a nice respite from the outside heat. Asked for a recommendation and they chose for me a delicious meal that was affordable along with dessert. I would recommend this place to any first timers or any that enjoy Greek food on the regular.
This is the BEST Greek in town. Their meat is unmatched, and the food consistently tastes fresh. We eat here nearly every Fri nite. My favorites: chicken gyro with classic toppings plus grilled spinach and feta, chicken rice bowl or salad with spicy chickpeas, hummus, and all the homemade bread flavors.
When you see the drive thru line, don't panic. It's worth the wait. TIP: Call in your order and tell them what time you'll be there.
Xristo’s is the best place to eat in Waco. The food is incredible, the service is amazing, and the people who work there are always friendly. Definitely my favorite Greek restaurant, and I enthusiastically recommend it to everyone who lives in or is visiting Waco.
Excellent Greek food, from their gyros (several varieties) to the signature feta fries. Well worth the stop; note that as of December 23rd, it's drive thru only.
Amazing food, homemade Greek! What more do I need to say? It's Greek food, just the way Momma used to make it. Well, if your Mom is Greek, and from the old country.
The Xristo Gyro is my personal favorite. Greek seasoned white meat chicken, hummus, feta cheese and a spicy homemade pepper sauce. Match it up with a sidecar of gravy fries and you've got a marriage made in heaven. Everything on the menu is spectacular, the dessert's are divine. Atmosphere is pleasing, and, temperature controlled!
Brought to you by the same family that own's the Greek food truck at the corner of Franklin and University Parks Dr. Five stars all the way!
This is an up-and-coming new restaurant. If you're looking for traditional Greek with a nice bite of tzatziki don't miss out on this place.
My recommendation is the Lamb it soft tender for flavor, you can't go wrong... and it won't break the bank for all you college students!
The best place for Greek food in Waco. Heard they are closing down next month which is very sad, wish them all the best. ❤️
