Cholos Peruvian Restaurant

I know we don’t live in an area with so density - but I was so surprised there wasn’t more diners when we went. My wife and I popped in on a Wednesday at around 6PM. The place was mostly empty. But when the food came it didn’t add up. Everything tasted fresh. The vegetables looked fresh. The side salad that came with the food looked fresh. And the flavors were outstanding. My wife got a quarter chicken order with Yucca Fries. The fries were crisp. The skin and chicken were so flavorful and moist. I got the Arroz de Chaufa, and the rice was perfectly cooked, the beef was tender and there was a pleasant nutty flavor that accompanied the green salsa that comes with each dish very well. The atmosphere was quiet and quaint. And I’m not sure why there aren’t more diners here but I encourage you to check this place out - there’s something for everyone. You will not be disappointed.

First, it is one of my favorite restaurants in va beach . My favorite it’s the anticuchos and homemade chica ! went to have dinner with my husband and 3 kids, everything was excellent as always food and environment and music . I had a great time until I realized our server wasn’t really honest, but I spoke to her and fixed it, other than that little incident we had a great time .

Food was delicious and thank goodness for that. Service in the other hand not as great. The young girl with glasses is very awkward. I asked where I can seat and I could not hear her so kind of had to speak a few octaves higher. At the end of my meal asked for the check and she just looked at me. It took another server to jump in to get my check. Wished the older gentleman was my server. Other than that I was very pleased with my food. Saw a few dishes out and everything looked great. Restaurant is not very large but definitely does get packed. For 1 person I spent between $20-25 (tip included).

We came here for an early dinner with the family. They have options like chicken nuggets and fries fleury hot dogs for the picky eaters in your family. That’s what my kids ate. I got the Tacu-Tacu con Lomo Saltado. The food was delicious. The portion looked small at first but surprisingly was just enough to leave me satisfied. Overall it was a great experience.

I can see why some others might have had a bad experience but mines was pretty good the chicken and rice was straight up delicious the server could of been more attentive but she was very nice and the food more then made up for it. I will say that the what appeared to be the owner and some kitchen staff did stare to the point of concern but no biggie
