The before and after should speak for itself. Out of pure curiosity I stopped here during a walk. Out of loads of sushi places I have visited, their rice has a proper lightly roasted taste to it. This is rare to find, the rice temperature is also matched to the dish you order. That said, fish is fresh but the cook excels in chicken based dishes. The dish shown above is their Chicken teriyaki. All featured items shown are not muffled, each pronounces their unique flavors while still working alongside the sauces. Nothing I tasted is overwhelming and plays well together. Also! This place is quiet! Even on a Friday, holiday weekend. Mainly visited by reoccurring locals, you can actually sit and enjoy your meal here without being pressured to eat quickly. Stay, enjoy, and love food, this is a proper place to enjoy.

LarderRoom...Sakura Sunday!! I'll say it again, best take out in the 757! Hibachi Filet & Shrimp w/Fried Rice....and you can’t forget the Shrimp Tempura Roll! Staff is always helpful. Restaurant is clean and the take out is awesome! Enjoy!

Stopped in here today (9/26/23) for a business lunch. The menu has a ton of selection at reasonable prices. I ordered the sushi lunch box which came with six pieces of sushi, rice, salad, soup, and orange slices. The sushi was very fresh, thick cut, and tasted great. I enjoyed the accompanying food as well. I ordered hot green tea to drink and loved the pleasant, earthy flavor. I will return to this restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for almost 15 years. I’ve tried many other sushi restaurants, but this is the best sushi I’ve had. Chefs special, spicy tuna and Christmas tree rolls are must haves. Tuna tataki is fire too. The owner is super friendly snd remembers everyone. They have great specials and are relatively cheap compared to other sushi restaurants. Try this place, you will not be disappointed!

This is my favorite place to eat salmon teriyaki. We always get the miso soup and at least one sushi roll. Everything is fresh and delicious.

Attentive, friendly service and appetizing food to match. We started our lunch with a bowl of spicy kim chee seafood soup and a regular bowl of seafood soup; they were hot and delicious with the kim chee not being too spicy. The shrimp and krab were paired deliciously with celery and cabbage in a clear broth.
Rather than order a lunch special we ordered 4 specialty rolls (the Dragon, Kamikaze, Twin Tower, andKing Crab Ichiban). Since there were only two of us we could not finish half of the four rolls because they were quite large compared to what we've had at other sushi places. The rolls were refreshingly flavorful even with the "crab" being krab and the prices were fair compared to my favorite sushi places downtown Norfolk.
We will definitely return as a family. This visit for us was a working lunch and this seemed to be the case for others dining in with workmates aside from the 1 family we saw.
Based on the location and basic outside appearance, I did not expect such a lovely atmosphere. The decor was pleasant and clean with ample seating from the front to the back of the restaurant where there was a flat screen TV mounted high up on the wall.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. Sakura Japanese Restaurant is the hole in the wall, one of a kind, quality sushi place you are looking for. We mostly order to go, but a few times we have dined in and have always had a good experience! We love these people! Their rolls aren’t packed with rice to save money. They make it right every time. They are the bar we measure all other sushi places to. I highly recommend you try them for your next sushi order!

I went here for my birthday yesterday with a couple friends. I got the veggie tempora and an eel roll. It was really good, and the portions were huge! The miso soup was really good too. My girlfriend got shrimp fried rice, and she loved it. My bf got beef teriyaki and he loved his dinner too. The employees were really nice, and the food was out to us really quickly. Overall, I had a great time and I'm definitely going to be back for more.

The food is tasty 🍣and, the customer service was above and beyond what it needed to be. I was there with my daughter for her 24th birthday. They were very sweet and brought us out their own plates (not the restaurant ones) so we could have some of birthday cake that I bought on the way there 🎂 Rachel and I felt like guests in their home. 💕

Never packed, service is quick, quality is comparable most other sushi spots in the area so it'll definitely get you your sushi fix, but youre not going to write home about it.
