Food is delicious - maybe only on Tuesdays. I like the spicy sauce. Food tastes delicious with it.
A thing I will make a note of: The chicken fried rice does not taste as freshly cooked as the previous day when I stopped by on a Wednesday. It seems I was served a leftover from the day before, Tuesday. That was unacceptable.
However, on Tuesday, the food was delicious, tasted like a freshly cooked meal and service was great.
Maybe, I will only stop by on Tuesdays whenever I'm in Chesapeake/VA Beach for work.
Overall, good environment, good food.
Cart style dim sum in VB with friendly servers, priced affordably. My standards are pretty high, having grown up going to dim sum in NY Chinatown regularly, and we found Jade Villa's dim sum to be a mix of really nice or pretty good. The har gow are generously stuffed with shrimp. Sui mai are tender and plump. Not wild about the calamari. Mostly tentacles and tiresome to chew, plus they tasted like they were seasoned with bonito or something that made them extra fishy. Sesame balls needed 30 seconds more in the fryer and there was only a smidge of yellow bean paste inside, but the size of them is nice. The char siu bao are on the petite side but the pineapple buns are nice big ones. Also had bean curd rolls and black bean spare ribs. A fun Thanksgiving option, and we'll be back to sample more of their menu. (P.S.: I liked that the water glasses are glass, and the dishes are ceramic, no plastic.)
Good service and great location. Dine experience was good, or server was very knowledgeable. Duck was flavorful and crisp. The clam in black bean sauce is the real deal. Hunan chicken was good, especially with the sauce. The roasted pork was most disappointing.
I just came from eating here not 20 minutes ago. It was so delicious, I loved it! The food was great, we got an array of items from dim sum to chicken feet etc. I can’t speak to the authenticity of it but everything was flavorful and yummy! I love how servers just asked if you were okay even if it wasn’t “their table.” It beats just sitting there waiting 15 mins for a single server who has too many tables. They were really knowledgeable, hospitable, and silly too. We felt comfortable, thanks guys!
I so enjoyed food. the service was great. They are very friendly and helpful. I had food I have never had before . It was very tasty. I had chicken feet for the first time. Thank you all for hosting us. We will be back.
I absolutely loved it. Thanks to the cooks, waiters and team for wonderful meal and the dim sum was a nice surprise to me. I tried several items from the dim sum cart and the scallops and broccoli was by far the best I ever had. Highly recommend you try Jade Villa as every thing I have eaten there was great. Enjoy!!!
I recently dined at this Jade Villa restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a great meal. The menu offered an extensive selection of dishes, and everything we ordered was bursting with authentic flavors. The service was friendly and attentive, making our evening even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Chinese cuisine in a welcoming setting. I'll definitely be returning for more mouthwatering meals!
They have really turned things around.
I've been coming to Jade Villa for over 25 years. In the last 10 years the food quality has just gone downhill. The place was filthy and the service just sucked. The place would be slammed with only two waitresses hosting, serving and taking orders.
When I heard they shutdown, I thought "good"! However, they reopened with new ownership, new staff, same manager or owner maybe new owner (I'm not sure), and same menu. However it is totally remodeled.
I've been there twice since they reopened this fall of 2022. Both times I came with a big party. Both times my food was on point. Did not taste stale, old or disgusting. The service was on point. They had servers, busboys and just more than 2 waitresses. I am very impressed that they were able to turn things around because this is one of the few places locally that serves authentic Cantonese and Chinese food.
I hope they keep it up because they do have a loyal client base.
Have you ever had food that was so good it made you dance? This is one of those places. I was very happy with everything that I ate.
Sadly, I don’t remember the name of every dish. But, I did provide some pictures. This wasn’t even all of the food that I ate. I was so excited to eat that I took pictures half way… facepalm
Anyway, if you’re ever near town center VB and want some good Chinese Style food. This is the place for you.
This place is great! Order off of the red menu for authentic dishes. Love the jellyfish salad with tasty octopus! Food is always great and awesome service!
It’s very authentic Chinese cousin place. On weekends, dim sums and small dishes serves on the trail all the time. It’s the best place to eat when you hungry and want to have food right away, because they serve food really best. And it’s tasty!
I was hesitant coming here reading some of the negative reviews. I was looking for a tasty sit down Chines restaurant. I found it. We came for my husband's birthday. Delicious Peking duck Crispy skin. A wonderful noodle and crabmeat dish so lovely. The dim sum was as well delightful to the mouth. Our favorite was the steamed pork bun, fried shrimp balls and sesame balls. We did NOT like the Shuman, as well as the beef hot pot entree. The pork lo mein was great as well as the won yon and chicken noodle soup. Thank you for a great experience. We had the sweetest waitress.
The best Chinese food in the area, hands down. Absolutely incredible and varied selection of adventurous, authentic dishes and fresh dim sum. The sesame balls filled with sweet bean paste are indescribably glorious in texture and flavor. The chili oil has a deeply complex and smoky character. Unreal, please visit
