The setup has changed since I last visited. It is no longer a dine in restaurant. It's carryout only. It's not a bad thing. Grab some food and find a place to sit by the water. There is a river, a lake, an inlet an ocean and a bay within five minutes from here. So your food won't even be cold when you get there. Now let me tell you about the food. Everything on the menu is fantastic. My favorite it the Jerk Chicken Burrito. It's huge by the way and loaded with meat cabbage with rice and beans. The jerk chicken is tender and bursting with flavor. The coco milk rice and beans are a good balance of flavor and an excellent add on in the burrito. My other choice is the Cuban Calypso. It's loaded with pork and bacon on a nice sized piece of cocobread and pressed. This thing is so damn good! So if you are by there and lucky enough to catch them open. Stop in and grab some food to go. I promise you will not be disappointed. Hell even Guy loved it!

Great. Spicy jerk chicken. Hot ham and cheese sandwiches for cheap on good fresh bread(this the cheap ham and cheese sammich rather than the specialty sandwiches). And good plantains, served nice and hot. The jerk chicken was juicy chunks of chicken, not dry at all. On the saucier side, sweet with good spicy kick to it, not too weak on the spicy level which I like.

Stopped in and got the Cubano and a burger before heading to Deadline Project Brewing for some good beer. The sandwich was amazing and the fried okra was the best I’ve had in a while. It is a “shack” in the sense that it is carry out only.

I love coming here. Food is always SO tasty. The meat is tender, and everything is amazingly flavorful. People there are super helpful and friendly. Meal portion is large even for a small size so recommend to come hungry. The only negative is that the seating area is tiny, so plan to carry out.

I had the jerk pork bowl. It was amazing. The pork was so tender. Great flavors from start to finish. We also had the Granny's Curry chicken bowl. It was very tasty with potatoes and chick peas. The service was excellent and the place was clean. It was definitely worth the trip

First time trying this spot and I will say I was PLEASED. I got the curry bowl with coconut milk rice and peas with a side of plantains. The plantains where my FAVORITE. And the portion of the food was huge. I really wish they offered more sides like Mac and cheese or yams etc but other than that it was very good.

Everything here screams "handmade," from the crispy Cuban sandwiches, to the fluffy coco bread and rum cake.
Portions are generous and the food always seems to arrive piping hot. While some menu items might seem unusual to first-comers -- venture out of your comfort zone, and ask the staff for recommendations (they know their stuff).
Treat yourself to an ice cold Ting with lunch and top it off with the BEST rum cake I've ever had.

I found the Carib Shack on the way to Zeros Subs and decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad that I did! That was one of the best Reubens I have had! My kids had the ham and cheese and let me tell you that bread was delicious!! The only reason why I gave 4 stars was because I thought that the sandwiches would have a side item...only to discover I had to pay 3.50 for each side. That brought my total for 4 sandwiches, 3 fries, one okra, 2 waters, and 2 diet cokes to $52. That is a wee bit too much for a lunch for a family.

Just went there for the first time! Hard to pick from the menu because they all looked good. Had the Jerk Chicken Bowl and was blown away with flavor! Everything was cooked to perfection, the spice was right in and left a great taste in my mouth! New fave!!!!

My husband and I Yelped to find some great food while visiting Virginia Beach and decided on Carib Shack at the many recommendations of my fellow Yelpers and OMG!!! They absolutely EXCEEDED our expectations. Every single thing we tasted from the curry chicken, jerk beef, mama's beef, cabbage, rice & peas, and rum cake were PHENOMENAL. It was obvious that these recipes were passed down from a mom, grandma or grandpa that used to throw down in the kitchen! Chef Vinny is definitely the REAL DEAL. The food is tender, flavorful and truly authentic. This place was a gem of a find and Stephanie was an awesome host. I'd HIGHLY recommend Carib Shack to anyone looking for an outstanding meal in the Virginia Beach area!

Went there tonight with the nephew after talking about the episode on Triple D. Had the jerk beef bowl and nephew had the burrito version. Was excellent! The rum cake and rum balls were excellent as well. Will definitely be returning.

Saw this place in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and knew I was going to be in Virginia Beach so I made plans to visit. I am so happy that I did! This is a MUST visit when here! The food was absolutely amazing and the service was top notch. I had the Jerk Pork Bowl and it was fantastic! I will make a point to make a visit every time I am in the area. The Mama's Beef Bowl is delicious! I tried a bite of my husband's Jerk Pork Bowl and it was amazing too. I'm planning the meal for my next visit already. I bet the Cuban sandwich is bangin'! Prices are reasonable and staff are very friendly. You won't be disappointed.

Two words....no sah! The staff was polite & welcoming. The restaurant was clean & the music was good. BUT, the "jerk chicken" which was boneless �and drenched in a sweet/spicy BBQ wit' 10 rice grains was disappointing. What allyuh doin? West Indians don' eat that. We also ordered the momma's stew. My boyfriend said is tasted like MRE chicken. Where de thyme, where de garlic, where de seasonin'? I want de seasonin' to soak in meh chicken bones. If you're West Indian you'd understand. That was not authentic Caribbean food. Maybe we should have tried the wraps or sandwiches instead. I must admit the rum cake was G-R-E-A-T!!!
