Kilted Mermaid

This place was okay. The kilted steak sandwich with potato salad was fantastic! Super tender meat with a slight wine aspect. The potato salad was also wonderful. My wife had the Asian cashew bowl and added shrimp. She wasn't expecting the shrimp to be blackened which isn't her preference at all. The menu made no mention of it being blackened. We should have sent it back but didn't. The rest of the salad was good, a little too much cashew maybe. My daughter-in-law had fondue, which she has had before here, but this time it had a mustard angle to it that was weird to her. None of us were very fond of it. She said they had changed it from previous visits. Service was great and the restaurant has a nice charm about it.

Great experience. Cozy family owned and run "joint" featuring a great assortment of beers, wines and house drinks. Thor made us feel at home with suggestions and conversation. Wife loved the "Mermaid Tail". Menu is simple but tasty and offers vegan selections. The live band on Friday night added to the cool eclectic vibe! Loved the chicken curry pie and Samosas!! Pricing was extremely fair!!

Caught a late flight into town and was scrambling to find a dinner spot that was still open on a Tuesday. We came across the mermaid thanks to google and man, glad we came! Everything from the decor to the food was a great experience. When we arrived, there was a group of musicians that were playing Keltic themed Music which was a awesome addition to the ambience. Highly recommend!

There should be more restaurants like this one! Right away you notice a casual and "artified" ambience. We ate outside which was covered with a canopy (good thing because it started to rain). We started off with an appetizer of seared tuna with a delicious sauce. I ordered the Kilted salad & added chicken. Really nice flavor combinations between the dressing and the tangy goat cheese. The hubby got the Kilted steak sandwich, which he made disappear faster than the speed of light. I could hear the crunch from the toasted ciabatta roll. Great dining experience!
