Review Hisui Japanese Restaurant - Vacaville

Dinning room is open and now is the time for a personal hibachi dinner...dave put on a great show and a delicious dinner...lobster was overcooked but the shrimps and scallops were phenomenal. All in all entertaining and good food. I think sushi is their strong suit here but had to try the hibachi.

Overall I was very disappointed. We ordered the all you can eat buffet which is brought to you as you order it and we also ordered off the menu. Service was rather slow we continually had to track down the waiter and waitress. Just an overall experience that lacks quality food and service. I wouldn’t go back here.

My sister & I treated our kids & grandkids to hibachi dinner on 11/1/14. Due to traffic a couple people were later than our reservation time, but the staff was very accommodating & seated us at the table anyway, then proceeded to quickly serve drinks. Once everyone was seated the chef started with his presentation. He was clever, funny, and very adept at his job. The food was great. The service was fantastic. I had baked a cake for my daughter & our waitress brought it out with the ice cream and had even put candles on it. I cannot say enough about the entire experience. We had a grand time and will certainly return.

Had a great family dinner, it was nice to see that Hisui reopened. We had two steak dinners, cooked to perfection with delicious dipping sauces and we had a Nancy roll and a wonderful Tempura appetizer. All were cooked well and service was great. We would help highly recommend this for a place to eat. Definitely I would think you'd be happy and with the really good portions, you'll be filled.

Japanese food and the scene at this place is great. Nice place to meet and catch up with family.

Small businesses have been hit especially hard by the crisis, as they often have fewer resources to draw on during a slowdown. It is hard also for the nice staff that fights the crisis’ effect.

We were happy to see a hibachi place open during COVID. Unfortunately, our experience was lackluster throughout. We ordered sushi and hibachi for a family of 4 (plus an infant). The sushi didn't come with wasabi, ginger, or soy sauce. We had to ask for it, which only then it was provided. These accompaniments seem pretty standard from my experience of ordering sushi. The hibachi dinner was not even worth half of the price. I ordered the veggie delight which was about 90% onions. The added veggie sides for the other 3 plates were the same. In the description for hibachi, it states shrimp appetizer, which I did not receive. There should be an asterisk if this would not be included with the veggie order. The added fee for fried rice is a little absurd. Pretty standard inclusion for hibachi at other establishments. The fact that THEY DO NOT SERVE YUM YUM SAUCE is beyond me. The cook even admitted customers ask for it all the time. Why they still do not serve it is beyond me. The overall "performance" from the cook was very rushed with zero entertainment. The only words uttered from him were when he introduced himself and reviewed our orders. No tricks with the volcano onion, flipping the egg in the hat, or any tricks at all. He did flip around the spatula for a bit, but that seemed rushed and done with zero excitement. The sushi was ok. Nothing grand. If wanting a hibachi experience, or even just the food, DO NOT GO HERE. Sushi at Hisui 2 is highly recommended though.

Covid19 is certainly having an affect on all restaurants. This one is no exception; however, Hisui shows that they have stopped caring about providing good service and providing a professional atmosphere. We were seated in the bar area with cases of supplies spread on several tables. One employee or possible owner was talking so loud to the other employees that I felt that she forgot that customers were sitting in the same room. The outside of the building had been terribly neglected. I was nervous about what they were doing in the kitchen to our food. I will never eat there again.
