Hangar 6 Air Cafe

I really wanted to like this place. The look of the restaurant is awesome, there are little details like propeller blades on the ceiling fans, and tasteful plane mural and wall art, all following the airplane hanger theme. And the service was great - we were promptly greeted, and our server was attentive and helpful. Everyone we encountered was friendly. But the food was not good. The menu had detailed information on the history of the airport, offering great nostalgia. But the menu, as far as food, is pretty sparse. Not much offered past burgers and sandwiches. For a café I would expect some soups, breakfast items, and coffee (which is on the menu but the server said the coffee maker had been "broken forever"). My partner ordered the Spitfire, their take on a patty melt burger, and I ordered the Mile High Club, their turkey club sandwich. It might have been good if it made it to our table hot, but that was not the case. I think they made the food immediately except for the burger. Fifteen minutes or so after we watched our server put our order in, the food came to the table barely warm; the fries on both plates were dead cold and my toast had gone soggy, yet the burger was hot. It was alright, but not good. The quality of ingredients were there. I think if it was made with better timing it would've been great. It was affordable but not satisfying. They need to match the food with the level of service and look of the place and they will have a winning restaurant. With a lack of good diners and cafes that serve standard American cuisine, I admit I will probably try it again after some time passes.

This diner is phenomenal. We landed here after a flight from Addison and discovered this wonderful restaurant on airport property. There was a small crowd playing soccer, and a decent amount of other clientele hanging out. We went in and the decorations were great. The menu was extensive and interesting with a ton of options. Unfortunately, i do not have any photos of the food because it was just that good. If you ever find yourself in Uvalde definitely check it out!

I really don't like giving bad reviews but in this case, I don't have much choice. Today I ordered a bacon cheese burger, a regular cheese burger and sliders for my kid. I had heard good things about Hanger 6 and there really is no good burger joint in Uvalde. So I was hopeful, this was the place. First the burger: The patty is your standard frozen patty (not fresh). The bacon on my burger was almost raw; I tossed it in the trash. The lettuce literally looked like they had used it for a door mat for the last two weeks. It was extremely old and black. I also asked for onions...I got a half a "ring". I also asked for jalapenos and got four little slices. I could see remnants of cheese but very little. I had to add my own. The buns were good. The fries were the soggiest fries I've ever had, none of us ate them. My son took one bite of his sliders and tossed the rest, my daughter are her (plain and dry) but said it was average at best. I almost tossed my bacon cheeseburger because of the rotten lettuce and raw bacon. I tossed the bacon, lettuce and re-grilled the patty to kill any bacteria that may have been on the lettuce and melted a slice of cheese on it. For the prices of these burgers, they should have been great. I like supporting local places but I have to be honest. This was probably the worst burger experience we've had in years. I don't know about the other food here but if the burgers are any indication, I won't be back. It's actually surprising because the same folks own 830 pizza and they're great. Just being honest.

Enjoyable lunch on the patio while the cold front is rolling in back home. So nice to stroll right to the restaurant from the tie-downs. Nice variety of menu items. I opted for the PT-16 salad. It was overloaded with bacon and the grilled chicken was a dry but the green apples and blue cheese were delicious with their vinaigrette and romaine lettuce. Server was pleasant but food took a bit to come out—but our drinks were kept full. Looking forward to coming back to try other items.

Really nice settings at the airport with classic aviation theme. Full menu with daily specials. The chicken fried steak was great, nice and thick, corn and mashed potatoes were above the standard sides. Very tasty. Excellent service with kid friendly outdoor seating if you want a nice view of the airport. A fun place with good food.
