Loved the Beef ribs. We all know how hard it is to find a beef ribs place. Slaw was great. This location is a bit further from campus so not that busy. Did not really like the brisket, felt it was dry but was my first time trying it.

I luckily arrived right before the evening dinner rush at Black Dog Smoke & Ale House, 201 N Broadway Ave, Urbana, IL 61801 on Friday April 12th. The meal I had was phenomenal and the services was top notch. I ended up sitting at the bar as I was hungry when I arrived and it was a great decision. I loved the feeling I had eating here as the food was all authentic and home made. If you're looking for a wonderful restaurant with top notch food, service and atmosphere look no further then Black Dog Smoke & Ale House, 201 N Broadway Ave, Urbana, IL 61801! I was fortunate to speak with one of the owners after I finished my dinner. I had a great conversation and I complimented him with the wonderful restaurant and the experience I had as a dinner at his establishment! I look forward to my next visit when I'm in Urbana again.

Stopped in from out of town and was pleasantly surprised. We had the brisket and ribs. Both were delicious. I had the brisket sandwich without bread, so obviously it was a smaller portion than the entree would be. We added the flight of BBQ sauces for $2 so we could try them all. The Georgia peach was clearly my favorite. The slaw is very bland, vinegar only... But meant for a sandwich and the server let us know beforehand that was the case. Sweet potato was good. My husband really enjoyed the green beans and the house made ranch on his salad. (salad is a 2.50 upcharge as a side) The restaurant itself is very small. There are 2 picnic tables out front but if you want to eat there you have to get your food in a to go box and not get service. Our server was good. If you enjoy BBQ try this place out.

Hands down the best Q joint in the area. From the moment you exit your vehicle you smell the smoky goodness of what awaits you inside. Enjoyed smoked polish sausage, pulled pork, twice baked potato casserole, and house corn bread. Smoked salmon, smoked bake beans, sweet potato fries. Sauces tailored to the dishes were fantastic! The smoked polish sausage was paired with a mustard Q sauce, the salmon with a Georgia Peach BBQ sauce. Both were perfect matches. Everything was exceptionally delicious, but the smoked salmon was the star of the show, being the perfect texture and taste. Staff was attentive and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend visiting!

OMG!!! THE FOOD IS AWSOME!! expensive but in the end great food. Ribs fall off bone.. brisket was dry, chicken wings are large and juicy, you absolutely must get the black dog corn bread!! The potato salad .. we didnt care for it. Taste like stuff just mixed with instant mashed potatoes. Overall were happy and would go back just for the cornbread!👍

Went here with my boys after the Illini game. Great bbq. I had the rib tips and my boys had a slab of ribs and the Texas burger. All were real good. I was in Austin Texas last week and ate some awesome bbq, but this wasn't far behind. Also a great selection of locally brewed beers. It isn't a big place, so may have a little wait to get seated, but worth the wait for sure.

Outstanding BBQ. The burnt ends are delicious. For your choice of sides, the pit beans and cornbread are failsafe. You will not be disappointed. The cornbread is extremely tender and it contains a magical mix of the pit beans, cheese, and green chilies. The mustard based BBQ sauce is fantastic with the burnt ends. One can easily over eat here, so enjoy responsibility!

If you get here early enough they have perfectly legitimate burnt ends. The smoke is perfect with just the right amount of fat and meat so tender you can barely pick it up with a fork because it falls apart. They will fry your fries crispy if you want them. The salads always look very good but since I always come in for the meat I never have an opportunity to try the salad. A couple of good sauces. Quick Service and they keep your glass filled. I've also had the regular brisket and pulled pork but there's nothing as good as the burnt ends. Yes I got two orders of fries. Shut up.

Fantastic burnt ends! Definitely recommends. The chicken and turkey tacos however were very weak, lacking flavor ni had to add BBQ sauce to eat them. Also, the salsa needs some cilantro in it. I gave five stars because other members of the groups loved the BBQ sandwiches.

Best. BBQ. Ever. We lived right behind here for a couple of years and spent many a Friday night getting a drink at the bar and takeout. Our favorites have been the combo platter, with 2 meats: the brisket and ribs are out of this world, and if they have burnt ends (they run out really quickly - generally serving them at 11a and 5p every day), you must get them! They do have a few vegetarian options, and we’ve heard amazing things about the veggie burger, actually. The twice baked potato is my favorite side (gluten free!), and when the special side is chipotle cole slaw, it’s a good day. The smoked turkey and chicken are meh, but I remember the salmon being ok. Milo’s Mustard and the mild Sweet Georgia Peach are our fave bbq sauces (you can pick your own!), and if you go to the downtown Champaign location, they have bbq nachos, which are just to DIE for.
