This place has the best food, reminiscent of my grandmother's from-scratch homemade dishes. They serve a choice of meat or fish entrees with a variety of veggies on the side, topped off by a cornbread muffin or roll. It's all yummy. The outside doesn't look too great, but don't let that influence your decision. Go in! You won't be disappointed.

Awesome soul food. This was such a treat because it's not something I can find in Colorado where I live. The prices were great too -- a main, two sides, two pieces of cornbread and a glass of Kool-aid for $11.50 after tax. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The only downside I see is that I'll be craving this food for a long time and won't have access to it!

Wish there were more stars. Sum is worth driving up from Dallas for the best home cooked meal. Place doesn't have a lot of looks on the outside but you walk through the door and see nothing but smiles and welcomes. Think about Sunday lunch at your favorite familie's house. This is as good or better. Small portions put out to choose from so nothing gets old. A load of chicken and pork chops just came out and both were perfect. Add some rice w/gravy and green beans and you are DONE. Place is as sparking as the serving staff. All this for $10...like I say, worth a trip from Dallas. Do yourself a favor and eat here if you are in or near Tyler. The best home cooking in Dallas does not compare to SUM. Can't wait to go back. We got to go and went a few blocks down to the Rose Garden to eat.

I've been seeing their Facebook videos of their daily menu and have been wanting to try it out. I sure am glad I did today because that was probably the best fried fish I've ever had. 3 big pieces with mac n cheese, black eye peas, jalapeno cornbread, and sweet tea was, as kids say it these day, bussin bussin. It was a great price and the staff is very welcoming and friendly too. I will definitely be back.
