Review Cafe Ole - Tulsa

Ameisha Wagner
The space is... upscale eclectic and I absolutely love the vibes! The staff are professional and friendly. I enjoyed the short wait for seating due to a great conversation. Next time I visit, I want to sit in the covered outdoors area and I'll try lunch, not breakfast. The pancake was fluffy and the bacon, crispy. The eggs were seasoned just right! The potatoes, however, will not be included on my next visit. I expected crispy, chunky potatoes and received a dish similar to my mom's home-style potatoes and onions mixture. As I stated before, I will be back, despite my potato preference, lol. You should visit as well!

This little place was awesome! The manager was super friendly and gave me suggestions on which tacos he liked. They have a variety of tacos among other things. They also give free chips and salsa. I ordered a side of guacamole to go with the chips. The food tasted great. They have a small heated patio you can eat on, and was just changing t.v. providers so they can air more football.

When the food is so good you leave the review before even leaving the restaurant 🤤🤤🤤 the Cesar salad was so fresh and the grilled romaine was perfect! The taco salad was perfect, the dressing was absolutely amazing!! The brunch was great as well!! Definitely will be back!

We ordered the AlPastor Quesidillas and the Huevos Rancheros. Both were quite filling. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, no rush, enjoy your conversation type of place. The service was great. The portions are shareable and we left ready to nap from our food coma.

The Chile verde enchiladas were delicious. The chicken nachos were also very good, my only critique would be that the tortilla chips seemed store bought (like Tostitos) and I’m not used to that at restaurants. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the atmosphere.

The salsa needed at least a little bit of spice, but I'm not going to complain too much about free chips & salsa. They do have a spicy salsa for $2/tiny cup but it is VERY spicy. My friends got the enchiladas, street tacos, and a couple of the specialty tacos and they were all very flavorful with good portions. The al pastor taco with pickled onions was my fave that I tried. My entree was the shrimp caribe and my only complaint is that it needed more salt/seasoning. I loved the laid back vibe. Doesn't feel like they're trying too hard to be trendy like so many other restaurants these days. The menu has good variety and makes me want to go back and try something new the next time. Service is a little slow but hopefully you're going here to enjoy a meal and not rush in and out. When I went, the actual menu prices were a a few dollars higher than what they show online. Not too surprising considering the economy but something to be aware of.

I have been going to this beloved cozy place for years! Its a favorite. Wonderful patio with heaters. The Queso is a must! Enjoy! Bloody Marys are great too!

Tasty fusion of Mexican and American food is Cafe Ole. Casual brunch, lunch and dinner place with a very friendly staff. There indoor sitting is very limited but they have a beautiful patio with a nice Mexican tiled fireplace. Patio also has heaters and they keep blankets on a chair on every table giving it a totally different and fun experience. The facility is clean but they can surely improve it for the patio when it comes to the tables. There spicy salsa is really spicy but a must try for Chile lovers.

The short rib taco is impressive ! Great texture and flavor and the meat lover taco is almost as good . Chips are def not fresh made that I could tell but still pretty good and they have a special hot sauce that costs a few bucks but is worth it if you like spicy food. Beans and rice were very good . The quESo is like a cream cheese spread from a begal company that loves bad bunny … just get it , you’ll understand. It’s really good if you mix it with the spicy salsa it’s just an odd texture at first. Service was good considering how busy they were , the outdoor area could use more fly deterrents but that was the only truly bummer part of the evening. The chicken street tacos were a little light on the seasoning but again shout out to the orange bowl of pain ( spicy salsa ) cause that worked well with it. Would go back, want to try the fajitas next !

Amazing customer service and environment, the food was very different then the tex mex they offer locally everywhere. This was very authentic mexico cuisine. Enjoyed the night with my family, everyone had lots of great things to say about it. The meat on the street tacos was very tender, the cheese in the enchiladas was very good, and the dish I can't pronounce was outta this world.

Stopped in on a cold Saturday morning. Patio was not looking accommodating due to the weather, and inside seating is cosy. Friendly staff and good coffee to start, and I ordered the ‘pigs & grits’: a pork belly sope, eggs, and cheddar corn grits. The pork belly was rendered perfectly and served in a fried masa bowl w/ cooked onions and apricot/sweet preserves. The cheddar corn grits were lovely. The meal itself was very rich, and I could see myself returning, if just to have this dish again.

Café Olé is incredible!!! It’s in a great little part of Brookside in Tulsa and has some really tasty food. The Taco Al Pastor was done so well! And they have a Cream Cheese Queso that is one of the best things I have ever had!! Also if you’re thirsty I highly recommend the margaritas! Es MUY MUY BUENO!!!!!!!

One of my favorite spots in Tulsa. The pace of the service is usually pretty leisurely, but it’s a good fit for the relaxed patio. The Ole queso is worth a meal here by itself! More southwestern than tex-mex.

One of my favorite places for Mexican in town and the queso is the best in town. I've been eating here for over 20 years and I have never had a bad meal.

First place I go to when I am in Tulsa! White Queso is the best app in the town. Fast service, great food and drinks (get the top shelf marg!) can’t wait to be back. Please look at the burger I had!

Personal i have had better service before, i don’t know if our server just didn’t care or whatever the reason it was i was extremely disappointed. A group of 7 including myself came in to have a lovely brunch, 4 of us arrived before the other 3 did. We got seated and waited till the rest of our party arrived, we had chips and salsa and our drinks no menus this is 15 minutes into our arrive. The rest of our party arrived waitress came and ask if we were ready mind you we still didn’t have menus, she realized brought some to us. Five minutes past she comes back and asked if we were ready to order again we barely had received our menus. We all placed our orders at this point everybody needed refills did we get any no. After waiting 30 minutes with no refills our food start to come some of the orders were incorrect while other proceeded to wait for their food. After all errors we fixed 2 people in our table still hadn’t received there food when one got up and ask were the food was she was told rudely, it was coming our waitress excuse was they only had 1 Cook (mind you it’s Sunday during there brunch hour and she couldn’t of told us this when we had first arrived that only one cook was there, that maybe the wait for our food would be longer then usual ), at this point we have still no refills and we had to ask a different waitress to please bring us refills. After 1 out of the 2 people that were still missing there food was deliver one was still waiting, he received his food once everyone else in the table had finished eating. His meal was taken care off which i think it was the lease they could of do. Not at any point did we receive an apology or even a manager coming to us to apologizing for the wait or mixup in our foods. We didn’t want our food to be free you need to understand that it’s the simple acknowledgment that people need to do when it comes to serving in food business a simple I’m sorry for the wait we apologizes. They weren’t busy because a table next to us had arrived as soon as they were set down they had menus chips and salsa were served to them in by the time we asked for our checks which was no later then 15 minutes i would say, their food was at their table which blew my mind because it took us approximately over an hour to even receive food at our table. I have never experience such horrible service ever, i an truly disappoint in Cafe Ole which is one of my favorite place to enjoy a brunch with friend, the food is excelente but that will not justify the service that we experience! I’m truly sorry to say i will not be returning nor recommending this place to family and friend! I honestly hope you take this review and speak to your servers to tell them don’t find an easy way out of an excuse and blame other people take responsibilities for your actions.

I don't tend to write reviews like this. But I feel like it's necessary after my experience yesterday. I typically cut restaurants a lot of slack for poor service if they seem understaffed. But when they're not that busy and the employees are almost equal to the amount of customers, there's no excuse. On average, I would say about 20 minutes would go by between someone coming to our table. I actually thought our initial server had gone home at one point because we hadn't seen him in so long. Our table ordered guacamole and queso. We quickly ran out of the one basket of chips they brought for 4 people. He said he would bring more, then returned 10-20 minutes later empty handed to ask if we needed anything. I believe we had to ask for chips at least 2 more times. We didn't actually get them until we were about to leave. Same thing happened with water. We sat with empty glasses most of the time and had to keep asking anyone we saw to refill them. It was about 30 minutes before our food order was even taken, and another 30 minutes before it was brought out. The guacamole had actually turned brown before the food arrived, and still no chips at that point. The enchiladas I ordered were supposed to be beef. They announced it was beef when they brought it out. They were pork. I don't like pork, but I knew we wouldn't see anyone who worked there for a while at this point (and I was right,) so I just started eating them. If you're Jewish or Muslim, proceed with caution here. The enchiladas were welded to the plate from obviously sitting under a heat lamp or something for a long time. I had to use my knife like a paint scraper to get them loose. We were there for nearly 2 hours and I had somewhere to be, so I stared down an employee who came over (acting put upon) and asked "what do you need?" I said "to go boxes and our check." She came back with boxes but no check. We had to ask the original server (who was in fact still there) for our check again. This is the worst service I have experienced in a long time. At a certain point, I was staring at the valets in the parking lot, wishing they would come to help wait tables. So to recap: We had to ask 2 to 3 times for: water, chips, our check. Chips would not be a big issue except that we ordered 2 different appetizers that require that you dip something in them. This was my first and probably last visit here. I hear the place has been around a while and has a good reputation. So I'm assuming this is some kind of new management situation. I can see how the food would normally be good if it didn't sit around and get etched to the plate. I feel bad for people working in the kitchen. They probably do a good job, but it doesn't matter if the service is a cluster#$%. No one ever acknowledged or apologized for anything. Maybe it was a fluke. I don't know. But I don't enjoy spending that kind of money to have a crappy time.

I guess I’m confused by why our service was so poor. This place had probably four waitresses and about 8 tables, some already served. Maybe the waitresses also cook? Anyway. Probably 15 minutes until our waitress finally greeted us with an apology that she was unaware how long we’d been there. Came out a second time to apologize for how long it was taking to get our food. Kids meal order came out wrong but at this point it wasn’t worth waiting any longer for our food. We never received silverware until I went to the front digging through spoons at the cash register. Table next to me had the same problems. Ultimately the food wasn’t great enough to demotivate my desire to leave this review; whereas, I put up with nonsense like this every time I eat at El Guapos and barely notice at this point.

My family has been dining at Cafe Ole for decades, it is the most consistent restaurant in Brookside (Claud's doesn't serve margaritas). The food and the atmosphere create a relaxed setting, the staff makes you feel like family. The stacked enchiladas and queso are all-time favorites, and thankfully we had Angie wait on us so we ventured outside of our comfort zone. The salmon is amazing and the new menu items are well worth experiencing. Every time we have Angie as our server, she knows what we like to drink and tells us what's new on the menu and what nightly specials are available. Angie is laid back and always friendly, she is the ideal server to compliment the CO vibe. The quality of the food and service are what makes Cafe Ole feel like home. The patio is an ideal setting year-round and a great place to visit with other people or hide out in a cozy corner. New year's resolution? No problem, the Skilly's burrito is still an option!

We've been "Regulars" at Cafe Ole for over 15 years. The patio is amazing, the margaritas are the best I've ever had, guacamole and salsa are made from scratch daily. From the blue corn tortillas, to the black beans and the newly expanded menu, you cannot get fresher or healthier Mexican food in Tulsa!

My friends and I each ordered different dishes so we could all try each other's. With so many delicious looking options, it was hard to choose just one thing. Everything from the queso to the main course was absolutely AMAZING. Finally, I asked our server if the margaritas truly were the best in the world as the menu stated. I must say, they are indeed. Great experience all around. Well done!

Not the best service at all. I am doing this review still in their parking lot. I never been so eager to do a review right in the parking lot before I even get home. So first I must say I was seated as soon as I walked in. However when my waitress Makayla came to my table to greet me, she didn’t say her name nor did she seem interested in helping me. She didn’t check on me much at all. She probably came to my table twice my whole visit. She never told me her name. I had to ask her. She was very withdrawn and not helpful at All. The traditional Queso is not good at all and is very runny. So I told my waitress Makayla and she seemed very unhappy to take it back. I then asked for the cream cheese based Queso so she brought me that and it was not the greatest either so I didn’t want it. So the manager Carlie comes up and asks how I like the cream cheese one and I told her I don’t like that one either, it’s thick and definitely shouldn’t be called Queso At All. She took it back and brought me my Quesadilla I ordered and it was just about smaller than the palm of my hand and with shredded chicken. She comes over asking how I like it and I told her I thought Quesadilla was made with grilled chicken not shredded. The menu didn’t state if it was shredded or grilled. I have to say the manager stepped in and handled the situation great. The waitress however was horrible. The food is Not the greatest at all. It’s definitely not good like what I read about it. I Won’t be going back.

We love eating breakfast here after church. The food and service is always good. The covered patio is a nice setting.

Love the food and the staff. However, the owner has some interesting beliefs about seating. My group of 4 arrived there at 4:45 for an early dinner. We wanted to sit on the covered patio but he would not seat us at any of the 3-4 6top tables outside. He deserves those for 6 tops only. We were there so early with an 84 year old woman. We weren't going to be taking up a table for hours and states that we would be in and out. He still would not seat us on the patio. I find this to be extremely poor customer service. We left.

We absolutely loved it! The queso dips offered are both fantastic. The blue corn stacked enchiladas were wonderful. The margaritas were tasty and super strong. The service was friendly and warm. Would strongly recommend!!!

The menu has been revamped and is DELICIOUS! The patio is so relaxing, ambiance is perfect, even when it is cold. They have blankets in case you get cold and of course a fireplace. We have eaten outside all winter. LOVE it. The staff is also very friendly, I feel like they are family now bc we eat there so much!

Ordered the stacked blue corn enchiladas with beef, friend had the same with chicken, plus pork tamales and queso. Amazing. Possibly the best tamale I've ever had and the blue corn tortillas are so soft and fresh, almost like a cross between a tamale and corn bread. Delicious.

The food is so yummy! Definitely try the queso and blue corn enchiladas! The wait staff is awesome, too!

We had an awesome late lunch at cafe ole. The rice and black beans were amazing! We also had the shrimp street tacos and fish tacos. Absolutely delish! We had the covered patio almost to ourselves. So happy we chose cafe ole for our Sunday day date.

I live in Houston and come to Cafe Ole every time to get the queso, primarily. I was there on Saturday, June 24th and was really disappointed in my food. The guacamole was brown around the edges when it was brought to the table. I ordered my standard Ole Grill Sandwich and the bread was literally soaked in oil. I couldn't even eat it. There was hardly any cheese on the "grilled cheese" sandwich. I ended up eating the green chiles and the tomatoes and that was it. We did get queso to take back to Houston and it was good, but I'll never eat lunch there again. Just get my queso to go. Sad to see the food quality go so far down.

Food was awesome! Love that there are a lot of gluten-free options and clearly marked as I have to eat gluten-free. Cool atmosphere.
