First time trying pupusas and I am speechless, absolutely phenomenal. Definitely going to become a take out staple. The empanadas have a wonderful flavor as well. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the preparation. Totally in love

Great food made by people who care! It's nice to see a restaurant that's doing its own thing — no carbon-copy menus here. The food is delicious and has the feel that it was cooked by a team who takes pride in what they're serving. The tamales, arroz con pollo, tostones, and sweet plantains were all great, and I could eat pupusas every day of the week. All the items were well-packaged and had extra touches included, with sauces, slaw, and veggies. Quick delivery too. Looking forward to ordering from Selena's again soon!

I've been coming here since they opened, the food is always soo delicious. I frequently do take out and I never know what to order so I tend to get food for 2 days. They have so many delicious options, you can't go wrong with what you order. When I want really good food, I come here because it never disappoints!

Ordered a bundle of 3 pupusas for $10. Ruvuelta (pork & beans), chicharrones (pork), and chicken. All 3 were flavorful, though I liked the pork ones a bit more than the chicken one. Also had chips with salsa, which looked like tostitos.

Great taste from El Salvador.
This food is excellent! If you are hungry (Or a large group) and want to try a variety of Salvadoran food all at once, try the “mi jente.” This will get you chicken, pork, beef and shrimp on your menu.

For dessert we had the flan and it’s scrumptious. Not too sweet and very flavorful.
If you’re looking for popusas this is your place. They are huge and full of flavor.
This place is small so plan your visit accordingly or you’ll be begging a long line. They do take out. Axel was our server and he’s great!!!

Got takeout with my little sister, all the pupusas flavors were delicious! The curtido with them was the perfect accompaniment and the platanos we also got were well fried and so, so tasty.

Absolutely incredible. Not only is the food perfect but the service is phenomenal. Everyone is incredible friendly. It's a cute little restaurant near U of A. I ordered the 'regular size' pupusas, WOW! far from regular size. They're huge and very well filled. Will order the large next time just to see how gigantic those are. You must try the tamales, the best I've ever had.
The window says "Best Pupusas in Tucson" but I honestly feel they're easily the best in all of AZ. This place is an absolute must try!

I ordered through DoorDash. Food was well packed to keep it hot. I got 2 popusas, empanadas and platanos. Everything was absolutely delicious.
This all tasted like home cooking the best food I’ve had in AZ in 2 years.
They are my go to DoorDash order from now on.

Fantastic food and wonderful service. I ordered the Jerk Tofu in BBQ sauce with rice and peas and plantains for the sides. This was the best tofu dish I have ever eaten because of the homemade BBQ sauce. The sauce has a bit of heat and went well with the rice. Their ginger and pineapple juice mixed with the limeade was also very good.

This is by far the best restaurant in Tucson. Everything is fresh and made to order. Had the curry shrimp with rice and beans and a side of coleslaw. Full of flavors. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Caribbean or vegan food in Tucson. Plenty of options and also great island deserts! And before I go, great customer service there!!!✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

I had the jerk chicken sandwich, with rice and peas on the side. The bun had good texture, holding together the cuts of chicken well. The chicken was well seasoned, and had just the right amount of sauce. It included tomato, and coleslaw on top. The combination of flavor was excellent.
The rice and peas side was a generous portion. I was very happy I had it rather than the traditional fries.

I was happy with the kind service and clean atmosphere at this restaurant. It was unfortunate that they'd run out of rice at lunchtime, but that also speaks to their apparent popularity. I'm always glad to patronize a place with vegan options, and hope to see even more on their menu as they grow. The curried chickpeas were tasty, but I couldn't taste the coconut milk if there was any, and therefore seemed more reminiscent of Chennai than Kingston to me (yes, I realize there's overlap, with many from India's diaspora settling in the Caribbean) in flavor to me. The guava limeade was positively divine. This place is a welcome addition to the local food scene. Add some jerk seitan to the menu, and I'll become a regular.

Hubby and I wanted to try someplace new and Edible Baja Magazine steered us to Desert Island. What a delightful place. He ordered the jerk chicken and yellow rice with potato salad side. That chicken is to die for! I even took the bones home to add to my soup stock (tacky... maybe, but wait until you've tried it). The rice was delicious and the potato salad was like mom's with an extra something that je ne sais quoi. I had the curried chickpeas and potatoes. The first bite was good but as I continued to eat it got better and better and warmed my throat on the way down. Delicious and sneaky! We also each ordered homemade limeade, mine with ginger. So fresh, and mine, the perfect amount of hot. I've already lined up family and friends to go with me so I can justify eating there more often :)

Desert Island Eatery is my FAVORITE place to eat in Tucson. The food is delicious. The owners are creative geniuses coming up with a tasty, varied menu. You won't taste anything like it in all of Tucson, and probably Arizona. They also have quite a big selection for vegans. One of my favorite things is that this is a one-stop-shop for getting any kind of food I want (e.g., burritos, curries, hand-pressed juices, deserts, etc.) -- something I am not accustomed to as a vegan. My boyfriend and I just love it here. A must try!! <3

I cannot recommend any restaurant in Tucson more, especially for well-priced vegan options. The curry chickpea is delicious, the coleslaw is made fresh to order, and the curry chickpea nachos is a delicious and very filling dish that is so easy to eat you don't even realize you're full until you stand up to leave. Wonderfully attentive service and delicious drinks, too. Ginger pineapple juice is a must. I'll be back over and over to try everything else that they have to offer, and I know all of it will be delicious.

My stepson and I went here today. We'll be back. Jerk chicken was fantastic- spicy heat without being overbearing, juicy with crisp skin, we got extra jerk sauce for our rice without a problem, killer limeade, friendly service, gorgeous rice, and really tasty potato salad. We'll be back.
