First time at this location. I had only visited the flowing wells location as far back as 2011. Saw this location and had to stop. Food is delicious. The salsa bar is on point, and the sonoran hotdogs are a homerun. I just can't believe how expensive they have become. We will be back soon!
Tucson has been hit or miss lately with tacos. This place might be my new favorite. The tripas cook perfectly. I don't like them soft or crunchy and burnt, but right in between !! Food and tortillas hot amd fresh. Tacos de asada real good. adobada taco super ricos.
We were travelling from Australia for business and were told we had to eat here.
Wow! The food was amazing. Perfect last meal on the way to the airport.
The service was friendly and very fast. You order at the counter and they bring your order to where you're seated. It's not a fancy place but it was very clean and the fixings bar was good.
The food can be quite good. The beef tacos were good, the El Nene dog was excellent. I especially liked the grilled onion that came with the taco (on the side) and the grilled hot pepper that came with the El Nene dog.
I was disappointed in the chicken super nachos. Quite bland and the topping was a mix of real cheese and nacho cheese sauce.
This is my daughter’s go to for birria tacos and tripa tacos the menu has vast the service is good. So fyi you will wait in a line to order this place is very popular you wait outside but the food comes out FAST!! We waited maybe 10 mins for our number to be called they have a salsa bar with all the fixings the Sonoran hotdogs are so delicious they give you mushrooms and grated cheese I never knew mushrooms were a topping for the Sonoran hotdogs!
This was my first venture into the world of Tucson’s south side Mexican food options. I now need to make many more trips since this restaurant was delicious! The staff were friendly and the prices were fair. When we were there, the bathrooms were out of order and we caught a whiff of strong cleaning chemicals coming in the door. However, I’ll assume that was a one off. I didn’t get any sense the restaurant was otherwise unclean.
I ordered a Yaqui taco and a caramelo. The Yaqui taco is served over tortillas and a green Chile. Both were excellent. They have a salsa/toppings bar with tons of variety and many bottled salsas to try.
A fun day trip to Tucson distracted us past usual lunch time. We asked a local where to go for lunch. They suggested this place. Great suggestion!
The parking lot could use some resurfacing and the exterior looks dated. But, inside, the place was spotlessly clean with great seating at stainless steel table tops.
The 3 taco combo was delicious. Each taco featured finely chopped meat, beef, chicken and pork. The flavor of each was distinct and original. I can’t stop raving about them!
I don’t go to Tucson much but i will visit El Nene again!
Some of the best carne asada I've ever had in my life. Perfectly fine if you want to inside, but also great to take away. Highly recommend visiting the food was top notch
Best Mexican in all of Tucson by far! Want to have some birria or a caramelo that tastes just like you were in Mexico? Go here and you will find that authentic flavor. I drive all the way from Northern AZ to visit Tucson and this is somewhere I stop at everytime! 🔥
Real delicious Mexican food, as a foreigners we’ve stoped here looking for Mexican flavours and nailed it. Also very fast and affordable, the servers were very nice. I’ve ordered the nachos and a taco while my partner ordered the birria soup
