Review Sushi Zona - Tucson

Eric
Excellent sushi! Fresh and quite a lot of food for the price. Great service! They also do to go orders.

We ordered Deluxe Bento and Triple Crown Bento. The nigiri sushi’s bottom rice part was too dense for me; I prefer fluffy, light rice that isn't so packed together. But overall we like it and will come back again.

Great food here, I honestly loved it all. We ordered a lot cause it was my birthday, but you can definitely get a filling meal that's not too expressive. The sashimi was my favorite, very fresh and delicious.

Best sushi in Tucson! Gotta enjoy the Are you killing Me roll if you enjoy spicy hot food. I dare you to order it Jack's style, best have some water or saki nearby though.

My wife and I were given the privilege to go sport fishing in San Diego and came home with a beautiful Mahi Mahi (Dorado). We drove straight to Sushi Zona for our favorite Chef Taichi to prepare our 20 hour old catch. We were not disappointed, he did an amazing job cleaning and preparing the fish. He served us Sashimi, Nigiri and grilled fish, including the grilled collar from our catch. It was the best sushi I've ever had in my life. All of the staff was polite, timely and friendly. The ambiance at night was amazing. I would recommend Sushi Zona to anyone in Tucson without a second thought. Thank you so much Chef Taichi and staff, you have all given our family a very special memorable moment.

Sushi Zona is my go to spot in Tucson for sushi. Great selection of rolls and the quality is consistent. Chef is very kind and staff is friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend! Also - don’t sleep on the Tonkotsu Ramen, or the hiyashi chuka (on their summer menu).

One of my all time favorite places, the atmosphere is amazing, they play smooth jazz and it's always so quiet and relaxing. The food is also really amazing love the curry

The food was great and the staffs were very friendly. Sashimi was very fresh and you can see the chef is preparing your Sashimi from your table. Definitely coming back to the place soon or later.

Really nice and clean place. Fresh sashimi and hearty ramen. Great attentive service too!

taste - 5 -tonkatsu ramen/salmon teriyaki bento plate -various sushi rolls/nigiri/sashimi service - 5 -very friendly and attentive ambiance - 5 -low key Japanese restaurant. Not too busy due to weekday lunch time. value - 4 -cuts of sashimi is a bit small. nigiri/rolls are on the smallish side location - 5 -lots of parking. Nice neighborhood. ***rolls/nigiris have small amounts of rice. not as filling*** ***honorable mentions to the "fatty-nigiris" and extra spicy sushi-roll topped with habanero*** ***very fresh and extra strong wasabi*** ***will return again***

One if the best sushi I've had. Very pretty, presentable, and delicious 😋. I mean look at that Sakura roll. I also had a dinner item that was just bomb. Amazing beef teriyaki.

Every time I come here i am never disappointed. The food is always great. The service is awesome. I try to get something new when I come here on top of my always go-to order (spicy tonkotsu ramen) and haven't had anything bad yet.

Been here several times and I believe this is one of the finest sushi restaurant in Tucson. The environment is very clean and the staff are courteous. Their sashimi is fresh and served with traditional Japanses sushi rice. We ordered chirashi and Japanese beef curry. The chirashi bowl looks fantastic, the sashimi on the top is really fresh and the rice is also delicious. Recommen for fish lover. There are only very few places offer Japanese style curry in Tucson, and they do a great job. In general their food have a good portion. It is true that they are a bit pricy but it worth. Also, they have delicious green tea cheese cake!

I love their Tonkotsu ramen, you can even request it spicy! Sooo good. The sushi is excellent too. Unlike other sushi places, they don't overload with rice for nigiri, and the cuts of fish are much larger. This place is worthwhile to visit if you're reading this. Best in Tucson, there’s no comparison. I used to hate sushi, but this was the one place that changed my mind. Don’t go anywhere else!

Some of the best sushi I've had in Tucson. Interesting rolls had good variety.

Absolutely love this place! We moved about 45 minutes away from here and still drive the distance. Staff is super friendly. Food is great and is well priced

I am blown away by my experience at Sushi Zona. I tried them for the first time tonight and guess what got me? The miso soup. I never knew miso soup could be that good. Seriously folks, for me to be blown away by something so 'pedestrian' as a bowl of what most Japanese restaurants treat as a 'throw away' item, is really something. The rest of the food was great - good gyozas, good oshinki and fantastically fresh sashimi. I'm stuffed but looking forward to my next meal with them.

Should be 3 $. This place is more expensive then others around town and isn't quite as good. They do have good sushi don't get me wrong but it is just to expensive for average food.

NEW OWNER ! it's good again !. I have changed my opinion, again, and the embargo is over. New ownership has redeemed this local authentic Japanese favorite. Their service is now friendly and courteous, the quality of the dishes has improved, as the sushi chef is the new owner. Thank goodness! The chef should always be the owner in my opinion. They know what's important, and the food is matter of personal pride, not just a commodity to be maximized as profit. This was only our first visit back to it, so I will expand this later after a few more meals there. But it is promising!

It's gone downhill used to be amazing now not so much any more...

New wait staff is not very good. Yukari is never here!

Worst!!!!! My family and me WERE frequent diners but after last nights to go order. Never again! Order was wrong and the sushi was horrible!!! I would never recommend YUKARI to anyone again! They are very rude!!!

Poor attitude, terrible service and awful atmosphere. This place is one of the worst sushi places I've ever eaten at and I eat sushi regularly. First, the selection is so limited it is amazing that it is called a sushi restaurant. I question the freshness of the fish since I've had a few a stomach issues after dining here. Second, the service at this place is sorely lacking. The waitress acts like she's doing you a favor by bringing you food, and the sushi chef just glares at you when you walk in. You could get better service at a fast food restaurant. Finally, the atmosphere looks like a dated tiki bar/ponderosa with its junky furniture and sad decor. Save your money and just get noodles and sushi at the whole foods nearby. At least there you won't get the snobby attitude. The employees should realize they're a sushi restaurant in a mini-all...in the middle of the desert. I'm from NY and have eaten at some of the best sushi restaurants in the country. This place is nothing better than a cheap corner shop sushi place in NY or San Francisco and yet they act as if they're serving up some of the best sushi in the world. A reality check is definitely in order.

The Best!. Sushi Yukari has the best Sushi and tempura in Tucson. The owner makes everyone feel welcome. Presentation of the food is beautiful and the service is top notch.

Best sushi in town. I'm surprised this place isn't #1 on Tucson's best sushi list. The atmosphere is very casual yet authentic with Japanese music playing and a sushi bar with a chef that is very friendly. The rest of the staff are very friendly and prompt as well. Yukari has a huge menu, both the regular and sushi menu. It's usually very difficult to decide between the Two Thumbs Up Roll or one of the Bento boxes for lunch. You definitely get what you pay for, and it's one of the reasons why we come here often to get our sushi fix.

While the restaurant itself is not fancy, the sushi is very good--fresh, flavorful, and they offer a wide selection of rolls. The udon is also very good, as is the house salad. This is definitely one of my go-to places for a quick, healthy, and tasty meal.

Pricey But Worth It. The pricing is slightly higher than other sushi places in Tucson but what you're paying for is an increase in quality. The sushi is expertly prepared; the entree items are delicious and could support the restaurant on their own. They have ramen on the menu but I have yet to try it.

I've noticed that the U of A Japanese department likes to frequent this place, so I'd trust their choice of Japanese restaurants. :P

YUM!. This is most definitely the best sushi I've had in Tucson. Everything always tastes fresh! Great flavors. We live on the far west side of Tucson but never hesitate for a second when thinking of making the 25 minute drive to Yukari just for sushi.

A treat for your taste buds. I heard the sushi is great, but since I do not eat Sushi, I can not write with any authority about their sushi, I urge you to try it though and you can vouch for them. I always look out for service, I can not tell you how good the service was: fast for starters and the our attendant was knowledgeable as well as courteous. A big five for the service.

I've heard that the sushi is good, but I've honestly not tried it. The delicious variety on the a la carte menu has always snared me away. They have a lot of good everyday cuisine that you can't find in most other Japanese restaurants in Tucson, like onigiri, takoyaki, dango, and much more. The menu is quite extensive, so you should be able to find something you like for sure. This is a great restaurant.
